The Mafia Bride (Katrina and Silas) -
Bride 60
Chapter 60
Katrina's POV_
I sat alone in the dimly lit room, my geart beating wildly in my chest.
It was the same room they had put me in after they kidnapped me, and now I am back here.
I could still remember the stare Silas had given me and his cold accusations echoed in my mind.
It was a strong reminder of how quickly trust could turn to suspicion.
Having no idea how Silas would think I tried to kill him earlier. Ilet out a shaky breath, running my hand through my hair.
I have never done anything to make him suspect that I would be after his life, even when Phillip accused me of wanting to kill him.
He had taken my side then, so what changed?
I had
ad become a suspect, and Silas wouldn't even let me out of his sight.
He had men watching me after we went back home and I wasn't sure which was worse.
The treatment I received when he had kidnapped me first, or the treatment I was getting right now.
Either way, I didn't like it
him.
I wanted him to believe me. To understand that there was no fucking way I would try to kill hi
But every plea turned into dust in his ears.
His men had left me at this empty pace, and the silence felt suffocating
There was no way for me to escape because he had men situated outside and I was also certain there was a camera hidden here somewhere. Moments later, the door creaked open, and Silas stepped inside, his expression unreadable.
I watched with slightly wide eyes as he closed the distance between us,
Why was he here?
Did he finally realize that there was no
as no way for me to do that which he accuses me of?
What do I do?
If he
e wasn't yet convinced how can I convince him?
All these thoughts ran through my head, but they were instantly killed the moment Silas stood in front of me.
He didn't speak, instead, he handed me an envelope, his eyes scanning the room as if expecting someone to jump out from the shadows
He knew that there was no way for someone to be here, but yet he scanned the room as if someone had come to see me while he had been away. "What's this?" I asked, taking the envelope with shaky hands.

Why was he giving me this? What was in here?
I looked between the envelope and Silas, the corners of his lips were pulled into a tiny smile
But why was he smiling?
"Why so cautious Katrina? Open it. I didn't put in a bomb there, his sarcasm made my heart flip, and I knew there was no way for me to convince him. He thought I did it.
I hesitated before opening it, my heart pounding in my chest at a million miles per hour.
My eyes widened as I looked into the envelope, my mouth gaping
Inside were documents-photographs, reports, and handwritten notes.
What was all this?
I instantly pulled them out, my eyes raking over them as I scanned the contents.
My stomach twisted as I recognized the names and places.
They were all connected to Marcos.
The documents hinted at his involvement in the explosion.
But why would Marcos try to kill Silas? What would he have gained from it all?
I didn't know what to do or what to think.
My mouth opened and closed up continuously, but words failed to come out.
Silas stared down at me silently, the smile which I had seen on his face earlier had been wiped clean, and I knew he was pissed off.
"So Katrina, what do you have to say?" He asked, staring down at me with a brow raised.
He was waiting for me to defend myself, to say something.
He wanted this to be me, didn't he?
He thinks I helped Marcos try to kill him.
"Why are you showing me this?" I asked instead, my voice trembling slightly.
"Because you need to understand what's at stake," he replied.
"I need to know where your loyalties lie."
Who I was loyal to.
If I was with him or with Marcos
This felt like a way to manipulate me into a corner,
Leaving me without much choices to pick from
But I didn't know what to say.

Chapter 60
I was nothing more than a pawn, caught between my father's dark dealings and Silas as well.
"You want me to be convinced that you had nothing to do with this, right? Silas asked and I nodded my head slightly.
There was nothing more I wanted more than that at this moment.
Then you have to show me. Bring back proof of Marco's involvement in the
I should bring back proof of...
The realization of what he meant sank in and I turned to him in shock
"Are you suggesting I spy on him?" I asked, incredulously.
What he was asking me to do was crazy: I was certain I wouldn't be able to pull it off.
Marco's security was tight, doing something like this was just like asking for death.
And it didn't help that Marcos had asked me to do the same thing to Silas.
Silas stared at me for a few minutes, watching for my reaction.
His silence spoke volumes, and I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks.

"If you want to prove your loyalty, that's exactly what I'm suggesting. Go back to your father. Gather information. Ineed to know if he's a threat, or if you are
"Silas, you can't be serious; I can't go back to Marcos," I protested, my heart racing with fear,
There was no way I would be returning to Marcos after I had successfully escaped from him. No fucking way that would be happening.
"And why is that?" He asked, his brow coming up.
"That's because my father he's dangerous,"
I didn't want to go back there, how could he not understand that
Going back home without gathering the information Father had asked me for... No no.
"If Marcos is dangerous, so am I." Silas said. His voice was dark, filled with something sinister
"You need to decide where you stand, Katrina. Refusing my request will only confirm my suspicions about you."
Could I truly go back into that world? Would I be able to face Marcos after not doing what he asked of me?
Marcos was all about usefulness, and when he replaces out he'd have no use for you then he replaces no reason to keep you around.
Once Silas had left, I was left alone with my thoughts, filled with memories of my childhood
The warmth of those memories twisted into something darker leaving me uncertain of what he was truly capable of,
Actually I knew what he was capable of; I just didn't know how far he could go.
And I didn't want to know. I never wanted to be put in that situation, but Silas left me no choice now.
In search of clarity, I sought out Alisa, the only person I trusted in this messy house

She would know what to do and the right words to say, I trusted her in situations such as this.
I opened the door, and I was met with the heavy stare of one of Silas' men.
"Where are you going?" He asked, his deep voice pressing down on me.
"I need to replace Alisa," My reply was immediate and I shut the door, walking past.
Silas never gave a direct order not to let me out of my room, so as I walked, I prayed to God and anyone who cared to listen to him not to call me back.
I let out a breath when I turned a corner successfully, increasing my pace.
Everyone stared at me with so much hate that it sent shivers down my spine.
They believed that I had attempted Silas' life.
But I didn't mind.
I found Alisa in the kitchen preparing food, and when she saw the look on my face, her expression turned serious.
"What happened?" she asked, her voice f
filled with concern.
Ever since the day she had helped me escape, and I got caught, our relationship has been close.
She's the only one in this house that treats me nice and I trust her
Sitting on a stool right across from where she stood, I plopped my head on the table.
"Katrina? Is everything okay?" She asked once more and I realized that she was starting to worry.
And so I told her.
"Silas wants me to spy on my father," I confessed, my voice shaking.
"He thinks Marcos is involved in the assassination attempt.
Alisa's brow furrowed. "That's dangerous. But you need to consider your options, Katrina. This could be your chance to prove to Silas that you're on his side."
What she said made sense, but
"But going back to him? I don't know if I can face Marcos again. The thought sent a shiver down my spine.
Returning without doing what Marcos had asked you to do, would make you regret that
I had watched him torture men just because they didn't get a job done, and remembering all those things filled my heart
with fear.
I was afraid of Marcos, and I couldn't hide it.
Alisa held my hands in hers, her eyes softening. "You have to think of your survival. If you want any chance to clear your name and earn Silas's trust, this is it. You need to know what he's planning, and I can help,"
My eyes shot up when I heard what she said, she really can help me?
"How?" I asked, desperation creeping into my voice.

"I'll set up a way for us to communicate while you're with your father," she said. "We'll replace a way to keep you safe."
I nodded slowly, knowing deep down that I had to face my father to reclaim my life.
The internal struggle intensified as I contemplated Alisa's words,
Communication with Alisa daily means if anything goes wi
wrong, she can easily come to help me.
That means Marcos won't be able to torture me for long.
After a long silence, I finally made my decision. I would go back to Marcos.
It was a risk, but it might be my only chance to prove my loyalty to Silas.
I sought out Silas again, replaceing him in the same room. his demeanor still imposing.
"I'll do it," I said, my voice steady, surprising even myself. T'll go back to my father."
His gaze narrowed, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of approval in his eyes. "You need to follow the rules while you're under his roof. No slipping up. You need to keep your wils about you."
"I understand," I replied, my resolve hardening. "I'll be careful."
As I prepared to leave, I could feel Silas's intense gaze on me. I took a deep breath, trying to calm the way I was feeling inside. I could do this. I had to.
My heart raced in my chest in fear and I tried to control it
I was going to be returning to the very house I thought I had escaped from, and I wasn't certain if I was going to come back alive.
