The Mafia's Good Girl
The Mafia’s Good Girl – Chapter 17

~ Violet ~

When Violet opened her eyes next, she saw that Dr. Lee, Elena, and Talia were all gathered around her bed. Her body felt weak and her throat was dry. She barely had the strength to keep her eyes open, but she knew that she had to.

“What… happened?” Violet croaked.

“You fainted last night, do you remember?” Talia replied.

Violet could see flashes from last night. Damon kissed her on this very bed. He made her another bet and she didn’t win. As her punishment, she was brought into a secret s*x dungeon where he did things that made her cheeks blush bright pink.

“Oh, right…” Violet breathed. She remembered fainting in that room and Damon must’ve brought her back here.

“You’re okay, but your body is dehydrated and under stress. You need to make sure you’re eating and drinking plenty of water, get yourself a lot of rest, and avoid any extraneous activities for the time being,” Dr. Lee said after checking her vitals.

“Okay,” she nodded.

“In the meantime, she should get some vitamins and supplements to her body,” Dr. Lee turned to Elena.

“Sure, I will get everything prepared,” Elena nodded and turned to Talia.

“I’ll stay here with her,” Talia said.

Dr. Lee and Elena then got up and exited the room. Violet couldn’t do anything but lay on the bed helplessly as Talia scooted closer to her.

“Hey,” Talia said with a soft smile.

“Hey,” Violet replied. “How long was I out for?”

“Almost a whole day,”

Woah.

Violet turned to the window and she saw how the sun was setting over the horizon. She was out for almost an entire day and she didn’t even feel it. After passing out, Violet fell into a deep sleep and now she actually felt better.

“Did he do anything bad to you?” Talia asked cautiously.

“Bad is one way of saying it,” Violet scoffed.

Bad. Crazy. Confusing. Unpredictable. Everything all at once.

“I’m sorry,” Talia sighed.

Violet shook her head because she knew this wasn’t Talia’s fault. She agreed on another stupid deal with Damon and it was her fault that she lost.

“When is this gonna end?” Violet sighed dramatically and gazed up at the ceiling. She had been stuck in this castle for almost a week and with no end in sight.

How much longer will this take? Another week? A month?

“At least three more days I suppose,” Talia said.

“What?” Violet’s eyes jolted open.

“Well, Damon left this morning for Italy for that meeting. He’ll be back with the others in three days,”

“Three days?” Violet gaped and sat up instinctively. “And what am I supposed to do until then? Just wait here?”

“Dr. Lee did say you need to rest,” Talia smiled apologetically.

“Ugh, why does this have to happen to me?” Violet g*****d in frustration and threw her head back. “What did I ever do to him? Why did he have to torture me like this?”

Being stuck for at least three more days in this place was a nightmare for Violet. All she ever wanted to do was help her family, but now she couldn’t even see them.

“I don’t know why he’s doing this to you either. He normally wouldn’t keep a girl around for so long,” Talia said. “And he always changes his Number One girl every few weeks or so,”

“His Number One girl?”

“Sabrina’s the flavor of the month. But she’ll be gone pretty soon,”

“Sabrina?” Violet paused for a moment to think. “Is she the blonde girl–”

“With the tattoos, yup,” Talia confirmed.

Violet fell silent and she started thinking. Damon could get any girl he wants and he could change girlfriends every so often. And from what she saw, these girls were always eager to please him. He already had all that, so what would he need her for? Why was she still here?

“Why does he do that?” Violet asked.

“Do what?”

“Change girls like they’re disposable,” Violet shrugged. “Treat them like they’re just… means to an end,”

“Oh, Damon thinks everyone is disposable,” Talia answered. “Even himself,”

Violet turned to Talia and narrowed her eyes, waiting for her to continue.

“You know, he wasn’t always like this,” Talia said again. “There is Damon before Isabella and Damon after Isabella. The two are not the same person,”

“What do you mean?”

“Growing up, Damon was the gentlest boy I know,”

“Gentle?” Violet almost threw up in her mouth.

“Yeah, it’s unbelievable now, but you should see Damon at sixteen,”

Talia smiled and threw her gaze out the window. It was as if she could see it all over again. She was only thirteen and Isabella was eleven. They were playing in the garden and Adrian, ever the prankster, sneaked up behind the bushes and threw a frog in their direction. Talia and Isabella shrieked in fear when she saw the slimy little thing on the grass. Adrian was laughing mischievously and Isabella ended up crying because the frog jumped onto her lap. Talia wanted to help, but she was just as scared. Luckily, a knight in shining armor came to save the day. Damon slapped the back of Adrian’s head before going over to Isabella and removing the threat away from her.

“Hey, it’s okay, he’s gone. Don’t cry,” Damon tried to calm a crying Isabella.

Isabella opened her eyes and found Damon smiling down at her. Then she looked down at her lap and saw that the frog was gone. Isabella lunged herself at Damon and locked her arms around his neck.

“Thank you,” she said.

“You’re welcome,” he said.

“Whenever Isabella was in trouble, Damon would always be there to help. He was fourteen years old when they first brought him in to see Joe. Normally, Joe wouldn’t take anyone under sixteen to start working from him, but Damon was an exception. He was fast, smart, and resourceful. He soon became Joe’s favorite soldier and Isabella’s favorite friend. Yes, she liked him more than me. And I don’t blame her. Every morning, Damon would go out to get flowers and put them in front of her bedroom door. Every evening, he’d help her with homework or any chores around the house. He’d fight any guy that tries to get close to her. And he’d always listen to all her stories and cries,” Talia’s eyes turned glassy as she recalled those moments. “He proposed to her when he was sixteen. She was only fourteen then, but they both loved each other. Damon told Joe, Isabella’s father, that he would do anything to marry Isabella. And he did. For the next five years, Joe sent him out on crazy suicide missions but he always came back and fought harder. Damon proved that there was no one better to marry Isabella, so Joe agreed on the marriage and Damon was groomed to take over his position as king,”

Violet could see the story unfolding before her eyes as Talia explained all of this. It sounded a lot like a fairytale love story, but the Damon character she heard about in this story didn’t resemble the Damon she knew now.

“He must really love her,” Violet said.

“He did,”

“What happened to her? You said she was in an accident?”

“It wasn’t much of an accident,” Talia sighed. “She was assassinated by the rival gang, along with Joe and many other members of the family, including my mom and dad and Adrian’s as well,”

“What?” Violet gaped.

“I called it the Red Wedding because that was all we could see in the end. Everything was covered in b***d,” Talia said as she threw her gaze away. This was a painful memory for her to recall. It took her a moment before she continued talking again.

“Joe Luciano had been in war with Victor Maranzano for as long as we could remember. Joe had control over the New Jersey territory while the Maranzano family controlled New York. For the past twenty years, there were always skirmishes along the border as both sides wanted to expand their territories. Then about five years ago, Victor Maranzano heard of Joe’s daughter getting married. He figured the wedding would be the perfect place to strike and eliminate all of the key people in the Luciano family,”

“Oh my God,” Violet gasped. She remembered hearing about this as people all over town were talking about it. She was only in middle school at the time, but she remembered everyone was obsessed.

“Yeah,” Talia let out a long sigh. “Victor and his men ended up killing Isabella and Joe at the father-daughter dance. They were dancing and smiling when these two guys opened fire out of nowhere. The next thing I knew, I was hunched under the table as gunshots flooded the room. In the end, they couldn’t get Damon or Adrian, but they managed to wipe out all other Luciano family members. Damon and Adrian had to start over from scratch and it had been their mission to destroy the Maranzano family ever since,”

Violet could see the event unfolding in her eyes. There was a beautiful wedding on the estate and everyone was overjoyed. Isabella was absolutely beautiful as she glided in her white dress and danced with her father in smiles. Isabella stole glances at Damon as she danced. Their eyes met and they smiled at each other.

“I love you,” she mouthed to him.

“I love you too,” he mouthed back.

Damon was about to walk over to her when he heard the first gunshot. Then he saw the color in Isabella’s face draining as her white dress became stained with b***d. Damon froze in shock as more gunshots were heard. Joe and Isabella received more than three bullets each all over their bodies. The gunmen almost got Damon too, except Liam jumped in and pulled him down.

Damon was seeing red. He screamed and shot at all the Maranzano boys. The two families began a war inside the estate and they managed to kill off almost all of the Maranzano people that sneaked in. There were about twelve of them and another three managed to escape.

As his men were chasing after the escapees, Damon bent down on the floor and found Isabella’s lifeless body next to Joe’s. His hands were shaking as he reached for her pale face. There were four bullet wounds on her, two in her stomach, one in her back, and another one in her chest. The bullet to her chest proved fatal because it went straight to her heart.

“Isabella was only nineteen years old when she died,” Talia wiped a single tear that trickled down her cheek. “She was so excited about the wedding. She was in love with Damon all her life and she couldn’t wait for them to start their lives together,”

“I’m so sorry,” Violet said lowly. “That’s really horrible what happened to you all,”

“It really was horrible,” Talia nodded. “But I still don’t think that gives Damon a pass for acting like such a d**k,”

Talia snorted a laugh and Violet followed suit. Violet still didn’t like Damon and what he was doing to her, but Talia’s story gave her some perspective. Watching the love of his life getting murdered before his eyes must have done something to his brain.

No wonder he’s always so… violent.

“Hey Vi,” Talia said suddenly.

“Yeah?”

“I might have a plan to get you out, but this might be dangerous—“

“I’ll do it,” Violet cut her off reassuringly.

“But you don’t even know the plan,” Talia said.

“There’s nothing worse than being kept here by Damon Van Zandt. Trust me,” Violet said firmly. “So, what do you have?”

“Well, I was thinking that our plan last time almost worked. We just need to tweak it a little bit,”

“What do you mean it almost worked?” Violet scoffed. “That plan backfired horribly,”

Following Talia’s plan, Violet staged a fake escape a few days ago and she got Damon to come back to the house. She was then supposed to get him to take her virginity, but she failed miserably at that. Damon ended up punishing her in the end and let’s just say it wasn’t pretty.

“But Damon actually came back for you, so that means he really wants you,” Talia argued. “He’s going through all this trouble just to keep you here. You need to realize that you have more power over him than you think,”

I have more power over him than I think…?

“Okay… I’m listening,” she said.

“So, here’s my plan. Violet sweetie, you’re gonna have to seduce him. Make him an offer he can’t refuse,”

“Seduce him?” Violet gaped. “You’re joking, right?”

“Why am I joking?” Talia asked back.

“There is no way a girl like me can seduce a guy like Damon,” Violet stated. “I wouldn’t even know the first thing to do…”

“Well, a girl like you might not, but a girl like Isabella can,” Talia said cryptically.

“A girl like Isabella?” Violet narrowed her eyes.

Talia nodded her head furiously.

“You need to rest for now and make sure you’re healthy and strong by the time Damon gets back in three days,” she said. “And don’t worry, I’ll teach you everything you need to know. Damon’s not gonna know what hits him,”

Talia let out a reassuring smile and Violet could feel the confidence in her eyes. Talia seemed to know what she was doing. If Violet played her cards right, she might just end this deal in three days’ time.
