Sitting in my bed I stare at my bare walls.

There is something peaceful about having bare walls. It is somewhat therapeutic. No distractions.

Nothing to make your mind drift off into something from your past.

The moonlight fills my room as I stare at nothing allowing my mind to get lost in its nothingness. Ever since I opened my mind to the entire pack I get a glimpse of the problems of the pack.

At the moment I cannot sleep and I doubt that is because of all the food Andrew practically force-fed me.

Andrew has taken over Hunter’s duty of taking care of me. I am almost positive that Hunter and Andrew talked before he went back to his pack.

A thin long sleeve and sweats pants are all that is keeping me warm on this cold night. A thin shirt is fine since I am always cold. Not sure of how long I am sitting there when music fills my ears.

What is that?

My wolf ears perk up in interest, anything than just staring at the wall would catch her attention, even a fly on the wall. Hell even watching grass grow would entertain us.

The faint music is coming from my dresser. I open up the drawer and my long-forgotten cellphone is flashing stating that there is an incoming call.

I stare at it as the number appearing before my eyes, the number is unknown. Anyone’s number would be unknown since I refuse to use the darn thing.

Who would have my number other than my pack? They are right here, so who could be calling me?

Andrew insisted that I have a phone since my mind link was weak and I needed a way to communicate with someone.

Who could that be?

I don’t want to answer what if it is an ax murderer like that one movie Hunter made me watch. What was it called? Ah, when a stranger calls. Well, this is a stranger.

You’re such a wimp.

Then you answer.

Answer the darn thing.

The phone goes black once again and the only light is the moonlight once again. I slide my draw shut and return to staring at the wall.

See they gave up. My wolf goes back to being bored.

Do you think Hunter made it home safe?

I don’t know.

Sighing I sink further into my mattress when a beeping noise fills the silence. I open up the drawer once again and look inside.

There is a small flashing dot. I grab at it and it is my phone again. I push the top button and the screen lights up. There is a phone icon stating a missed call with the unknown number and then underneath it, there is a voicemail.

I press on the voicemail section and put the phone up against my ear.

“You have one new message from...” The voice goes on to say the number. “Push one to return to the menu, four to listen to the message, and seven to delete the message.”

I remove the phone from my ear and press the four on the dialer. “This is your message.”

Some crackling noise comes through the earpiece and then some breathing.

What the hell is this?

I don’t know. I am annoyed with my wolf. She knows I am as confused as her.

“Melany?” His voice makes me gasp. “Why don’t you answer? Oh sorry, it’s Hunter.” I know that voice anywhere. “I’m going to call you again in a few minutes, so answer me.”

The message ends and the voice comes back up, “press one to repeat the message, four to delete the message, seven to save the message.”

I push the number seven and smile at the screen like an idiot.

My eyes go to the battery percentage at the top of the screen, 16%. My phone is not going to last very long with that much battery.

I jump out of my bed and run out of my room my bare feet pounding at the cold wooden floor. I get to the door that I have come to know very well. My fist pounds away at the door.

“Andrew.”

I do not bother with him opening the door I twist the knob and Andrew is sprawled across his bed.

“Wake up!” I pounce on him as he groans sleepily.

He is shirtless and his bottom half is cover with a blanket.

“Go away!” He shouts and flips over to his stomach.

“Andrew, I need the charger for my phone.” I shake his shoulders trying to wake him up.

“Why?” He says as his face pressed against his mattress.

“I need it!” I move to the edge of the bed and Andrew reluctantly sits up and rubs his eyes. He turns to his dresser and turns on the light.

“What time is it?” He looks over at his alarm, 1:13 AM. “You’re pushing it Red!” I growl at him and he gives me an apologetic smile. “What do you want?”

“My god damn charger!” I yell at him and he nods getting off of his bed and I see that he is wearing shorts, the cold does not seem to bother him.

Andrew walks out of his room and I jump off his bed and follow. He walks straight into my bedroom and walks into my dresser. He goes to the dresser under the one that I found my phone.

“Looking for this?” I nod as he holds up the cable.

Andrew is nice enough to plug it in for me and connect it without any question.

“Thanks.”

“Is that all because I swear if you come into my room one more time I will strangle you with that cable!” He smirks at me but his exhaustion is clear on his face.

“I would love to see you try!” I retort he shakes his head and walks out of my room closing the door behind him.

I watch as the battery states that it is in fact charging. I sit crossed legged on my bed watching my phone, waiting for a call seems like an eternity.

The ringing starts up again and this time I do not hesitate to answer.

“Hello?” I try to clear the raspiness from my throat.

“Melany!” The excitement in his voice makes me smile.

“Yes!”

“Why didn’t you answer me earlier?” The disappointed now fills his voice.

I laugh, “I don’t answer to thieves, you stole my favorite beanie. Plus, I am not supposed to talk to strangers.”

He chuckles, “About that...” I can see him scratching his head in my mind that is something that I picked up from him. “I have no answer for that.”

“That’s what I thought. I see that you made it home safely.” Thankfully.

“Yup, it was a long ride. My wolf is mad at you, you know.”

I gasp drastically, “Whatever for?” I say sarcastically.

“He wanted to run but to make you happy he decided to not fight you.”

“Your wolf wanted to make me happy? And for your information that would be a fight, he wouldn’t be able to win.”

“What makes you say that?”

“I’m an alpha.”

“So am I?” No one will win this fight like this...

“I’m the girl in this and girls always get what they want!”

“Brat!” My eyes widen.

Oh no he didn’t!

“Hey what was that for?”

“You were sounding like a brat,” I stick out my tongue at him but then pull it back when I notice he cannot see me.

“Don’t stick your tongue out at me.” He knows me well.

“I do what I want!”

You’re such a kid.

I can hear Hunter yawn. “Do you want to talk some other time so you can sleep?”

“No. That’s the problem I am exhausted and I can’t sleep.”

“It seems as if both of us seem to be experiencing the same problem.”

“So it seems, I’m missing my favorite lullaby,” I can feel my cheeks flush.

“As am I!” I shoot back.

“I’ll take your car back soon,” I nod and forget that he cannot see me.

“Okay.”

“I should get some sleep since my pack has been on me since I’ve been back. I have a couple of meetings in the morning and then lunch with my beta and omega.” He groans.

“Okay, I need to rest as well. I need to set my meeting as well I’ve been out of commission for too long.”

“Night Mel!”

“Night.” I try to hide my disappointment.

I can hear his breathing. “I thought you were hanging up?”

“You’re the one saying good night!”

“Okay, I’m hanging up.” I wait and he stays on the line. “I’m going to do it!”

“Do it!”

“Three...I’m going to do it, two...Oh, I’m wearing your beanie.”

I gasp, “You’re going to stretch it out!”

“One...” the line goes dead as his chuckle is the last thing I hear.

He is such a kid just like you!

I stare at my phone with this stupid smile that only Hunter can put on my face.

I curl up to my comforter and the pillow next to me smells of him so I hug it close to my chest and I fall into the darkness with his scent, and the phone still charging on my dresser.
