Contentment fills my body.

Everyone is safe.

My pack is okay, for the time being.

My body seems light as a feather and my mind seems at ease with the darkness that seems to envelop me at the moment.

The silence in my mind does not scare me. I can sense my wolf is resting at the moment.

There is a faint sound registering in my mind and I try to listen hard. The sound of guitar strings being pulled rings in my ears makes my body grow heavier and as a soft humming follows I can feel myself growing more alert.

The guitar notes start speeding up making a peaceful melody.

“Honey you are a rock

Upon which I stand

And I came here to talk

I hope you understand

The grey eyes, yeah the spotlight, shines upon you.”

His voice awakens my wolf. She gives me energy. My spirit lifts above the darkness. I am between consciousness and unconsciousness, part of me wants to stay put but a bigger part of me wants to be with him.

“And how could, anybody, deny you

I came here with a load

And it feels so much lighter now I met you

And honey you should know

That I could never go on without you

Grey eyes.”

My wolf allows me to push through the darkness and into consciousness. His voice is velvet to my ears.

"Honey you are the sea

Upon which I float

And I came here to talk

I think you should know.”

With heavy lids, I blink away my sleep and see that I am in my bedroom and Hunter is next to me stretched out in my bed. A wooden guitar is on his lap as his fingers strum away at the strings. His head is press against the headboard his eyes closed as he takes in his melody.

“The grey eyes, you’re the one that I wanted to replace

And anyone who tried to deny you must be out of their mind.”

I cannot help the smile that spreads across my lips. I stare at him in awe as I take him in. He is sporting some facial hair and his hair looks as if he ran his fingers through it instead of combing it. He is wearing black sweats and a long sleeve cotton beige shirt.

“Because I came here with a load

And it feels so much lighter since I met you

Honey, you should know

That I could never go on without you

Grey eyes, grey eyes

Oh oh oh-oh.”

I push myself up, his eyes slowly open as he strums the strings one last time. His tired eyes lock on mine and his smile sends butterflies through my stomach. His soft golden eyes seem as they can see straight into my soul.

“Honey you are a rock

Upon which I stand.”

He sings the last part acapella. If I was not on my bed I would probably drop to the ground since my knees feel like jelly. He makes me feel like the most loved girl in the world.

“Wow!” Is all I can say he grins at me putting his guitar to the side.

“Did you like it?” The slight embarrassment in his voice makes me almost melt into my mattress.

Like it? More like loved it.

“There are no words to describe how much I loved it. What song was it?” The heat rises from my neck up to my cheeks.

“Green Eyes by Coldplay but I changed the lyrics up a bit.”

He pushes himself away from the wall and his lips gently press against mine. I pull away quickly. His confused expression makes me frown.

“What is it?”

“I haven’t brushed my teeth and I probably have morning breath.” I can feel the heat rise to my cheeks.

“Morning breath is when you sleep through the night I say you have more like three days breath.” I gasp and cover my mouth.

What? No way, three days.

“You’ve been in this...coma for three days.”

“I have.” He nods.

“But even if you were asleep for a week...a month straight I would want to be denied a kiss from you.” He chuckles as my hands remain covering my mouth.

In a swift motion, he turns around and is on top of me his body pinning me to the bed. His legs between mine, as our chest beat against each other’s and my body, soak up his heat.

An amused scream escapes me as my hands grab his shoulders.

His hand wraps around my wrist and he lifts them above my head as his lips crash down on mine. His lips feel heated as they sync with mine. His teeth skim my bottom lip and I gasp he then take it between his teeth and sucks on it. Hunter pushes his body up mine as my shirt moves with him my stomach is exposed.

His free hand runs along my arm and down my body. My breath hitches as he slowly moves until his fingers reach my ribs and his fingertips skim my skin sending a swarm of butterflies through my stomach and goosebumps fill my skin. His fingers wrap around my side and his strong capable hand pushes me up arching my back molding me into him his lips never leaving mine as he deepens the kiss with his movement.

“Hunter,” Andrew opens up the door wide. “Do you want me to-”

Hunter pulls away suddenly but adjusts himself so that I am mostly covered. I turn to look at Andrew, his wide eyes are full of shock.

“Ahhh,” he covers his eyes, “what did I just walk into?” He shakes his head still covering his eyes. “Melany, you’re awake! Hunter, lock the damn door.” He yells at us and it seems as if he does not know how to adjust his volume.

Andrew looks so confused not sure of what to do. His feet shuffle back and forth.

“Andrew, stop!” Hunter growls.

“My eyes burn,” he grins but still does not uncover his eyes. “Welcome back Mel. I've missed you but I’m out of here.” Andrew walks out and shuts the door behind him.

“How embarrassing,” I groan as I drop back into my bed.

I cannot even look at Hunter but his body heats up mine again and even with Andrew’s interruption he stays in his place.

“We should go...” A giggle escapes me as his face lowers down again and he starts kissing my face. His lips go to my lips, cheeks, eyelids, and nose. I laugh again and he lowers down kissing my neck.

“I love the feeling of you laughter against my lips,” he kisses my neck again. “I’m so happy you’re back!” His face is an inch away. I nod and push myself up so our lips connect.

“Andrew, why the hell, are you yelling,” the door opens once again and Ken walks in.

His eyes quickly scan the room wide-eyed searching for Andrew. When he sees that it is just us, he smirks.

“Get it alpha,” he walks away grinning and slams the door.

“Good God!” Hunter drops his body on me his face press against my neck. He inhales deeply, “It would be our betas walking in.”

“You got that right, but your beta knows to walk right out when he knows he is not wanted.” Hunter smiles at me.

“He knows if he stays I would kick his ass,” I roll my eyes at him and he rolls them back at me.

My rumbling stomach makes Hunter get off of me and he drags me out of bed. We head into the kitchen where the buzzing sound in the kitchen is silenced once we walk in.

There before me is my entire pack and not just that but new faces as well. Andrew stands from his usual seat and walks to me.

“Our alpha is back!” He chimes as the sound of applause filled my ears. I swallow down my embarrassment and look over at Hunter. He is also applauding with them. He looks down at me with admiration and I look away.

Hunter presses his hand on the small of my back and guides me to my seat. He sits as usual in my omega’s seat.

“Everyone is happy to have you back even some of your new additions.”

I look at a she-wolf her pinkish eyes go to me. She gives me a warm smile. Hunter must be looking at me.

“It takes time before their eyes go back to their normal color.”

I nod as I turn I see our cook give me a genuine smile and Trent steps out and wraps his arms around her.

“Alpha Blake,” a young girl stands before me. “When I grow up I want to be just like you.” She beams at me and I gasp. Hunter roughs up her hair and she runs off giggling.

“Your pack finally sees that you’re a worthy alpha.” My eyes scan the crowd and I see more people than ever before even more than when my father was alive.

That night the males set out tables outside so that we could all eat together. We had dinner under the star-filled sky and I sat next to the two most important men in my life.

Don’t get too comfortable. You won a battle but you have yet to see the war. A bigger pack means more enemies.

I push my wolf to the back of my mind and enjoy my happiness with my family. I finally feel worthy of sitting in the alpha chair.
