The Medallion
Chapter 1357 Isis Learned The Truth

After Lance's death, the West United Army lost their leader and their morale was greatly affected. Although Rocky had decided to let Sabina and Lucilla be the Commander in Chiefs of the West United Army, they were not as experienced as Lance. He himself could only stay for a few days in the army to deal with the aftermath, wait for the successful take-over of the two women, and recover the morale of the army. After that, he needed to leave and deal with his own business.

Besides, Rocky was still worried about Isis, the saddest and most affected person because of Lance's death. Although it was impossible for him to comfort her, he still cared about her. After all, she was his wife and Nigel's mother.

As the situation was growing tenser now, there was no way to hold a grand funeral for Lance. So, the only thing he could do was to cremate Lance's body and carefully put away the ashes. He would bury it on another day.

The next day, the drill ground in the West United Army's military camp was overcrowded. Except for the soldiers guarding at the front lines, the rest of the soldiers gathered there to see Lance's body off. At least half of the soldiers came from the Crimson Dragon Group, including many officials and commanders. Their admiration for Lance was as high as the great mountains. The atmosphere in the whole training ground was profoundly serious and all the soldiers looked sad.

Isis, who was standing beside Marcia, had obviously been crying all night with her red eyes and depressed look. At first, Marcia didn't want Isis to come here at all. After all, it was an indescribable feeling to see one's father being cremated. Marcia knew this feeling deeply, but Isis insisted on seeing her father the last time.

On the stacked wooden frame in front of the training ground, Lance was wearing a white robe and was lying still inside. It looked like he was in deep sleep. His name was known in the entire Wild Spirit Land and he had achieved many accomplishments in war. But now he had departed from the world forever, which made people realize that life was fragile and temporary!

Standing alone in front of the wooden frame, Rocky looked at Lance's body in silence. Although his face was expressionless, there was still a flash of inadvertent sadness in his eyes. Except for the fact that Lance was his father-in-law, he also very much respected Lance as a general. Back in the Crimson Dragon Group, Lance had taken good care of him. He was one of the pillars of Rocky's foundation. He would not be like this today if it weren't for Lance.

Rocky knew that he was responsible for the death of Lance. If he hadn't killed Woods and made Alyssa betray them, Lance might not have been ambushed and died in the battlefield.

But things had already happened, and there was no point in wallowing in regret!

Then, a commander with a torch in his hand walked to the side of Rocky and handed the torch to him.

After Rocky took it, his eyes narrowed slightly, but his face didn't change. He slowly walked forward to light the wooden frame under Lance's body. In an instant, the fire rose to the sky. The flames instantly surrounded and devoured Lance's body.

"Father..." Isis couldn't help but to cry again when she saw the sparks on Lance's body. She was overwhelmed with pain and tears immediately fell on her face. She couldn't stand still and leaned against Marcia for support. She really suffered a terrible blow.

Some of the soldiers around them also cried out loud, while some shouted the slogans of the Crimson Dragon Group. The sky seemed to be affected by such a solemn atmosphere since it was gloomy with dark clouds.

Three days later, Sabina and Lucilla safely arrived at the military camp of the West United Army. The death of Lance naturally made the two women incredibly sad, but they knew that the saddest person was Isis. So, after arriving, they immediately went to see her first and then proceeded to report to Rocky and Marcia.

Although they hadn't seen Rocky for a long time, Sabina and Lucilla still looked at him with affections. However, they already accepted that Rocky was no longer the Prince Crimson that they knew. Even so, their feelings for Rocky were still the same because they believed that there was a reason why Rocky changed. They also believed that what Rocky had done must be right.

"I'll leave the West United Army to you two. Because of my father's death, the original plan for the West United Army was greatly affected. Its progress was much slower compared to the two other armies. So, it may be exceedingly difficult for the both of you to make things right," Rocky said as he seriously looked at Sabina and Lucilla.

"Don't worry. You can leave it to us. I promise I won't let you and my master down," Sabina solemnly swore. As the Deputy Commander in Chief of the Rime Army Group, she had already gone through so much in the battlefield. Although she was not that experienced compared to Lance, with a powerful master like Marcia, she was particularly good and reliable.

Meanwhile, Lucilla had never fought in a battle before. But as the chief of the Cao Clan, she was naturally not an ordinary person. During this time, she had worked for the South United Army led by Marcia and accumulated a lot of experience, so her help would be absolutely useful.

Rocky had carefully considered this, so he transferred the two women here.

Isis would honestly be more suitable to command the West United Army, but Rocky thought it was better to let Isis calm down for a while considering her current situation. Besides, he was also worried that she would not let Alyssa go if she knew that it was Alyssa who killed her father. He knew Isis too well to foresee this. Although Isis hadn't gone to the battlefield ever since she gave birth to Nigel, she was a tough woman. She wouldn't be defeated by any setback. But this time, Isis had suffered too much, so she was not suitable to lead the West United Army.

But just as Rocky was about to discuss more strategy with Sabina and Lucilla, Isis, who was supposed to be resting, suddenly came in. Although her ruddy face had returned, she still looked very haggard and pitiful.

"Isis, didn't I tell you to rest? Why are you suddenly here?" Marcia worriedly said.

But Isis seemed not hear Marcia, her eyes were suddenly staring directly at Rocky. She bit her pink lip and asked, "Are you hiding something from me?"

Hearing that, Rocky looked into Isis's eyes and guessed that she must have known that it was Alyssa who ambushed Lance and caused his death.

A few days ago, when Alyssa led the army to attack the front lines of the West United Army, not just Rocky and Marcia recognized her, so did several commanders of the original Crimson Dragon Group. Thus, it was natural for Isis to know it.

Normally, Rocky wouldn't tell her about that, but he didn't want to lie to Isis. So, he nodded in the end.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
