The Medallion -
Chapter 1408 The Last Resort Failed
All the big shots from both the human race and the spiritual race, including Bryant, Alyssa, and Moira, stood side by side, exuding a tremendous aura and momentum as they faced the magical door. "Everyone, are you ready?" Alyssa asked in a stern voice. Her guards were up and her eyes were only focused on what was in front of them.
At that time, all the spirit manipulators, as well as the members of the spiritual race, showed a burning determination in their eyes, knowing that this battle would dictate the future of the Wild Spirit Land. They didn't know what exactly was waiting for them. The only thing they knew was that they needed to destroy the door that connected the alien land and their world in order to save the Wild Spirit Land and everyone that lived in it.
Just as the allied forces were about to launch their attack, hundreds of figures that bore black lights suddenly appeared from beyond the door. They flew out and rushed in front of the allied army at their top speed. All of them were dressed in dark and peculiar clothes and they looked neither human nor beasts. However, their spiritual aura was overwhelming that even the weakest among them should still be equal to the strength of a spirit manipulator at the Divine Stage.
"Humph! Really? The low-grade races in this world dare to come and attack us?" As a low and ominous voice rang out, a man clad with armor and dragon horns on his head eventually walked out. He looked prim and elegant and seemed to be the leader of all these aliens. He was shrouded in a mysterious spiritual aura that constantly surged out from his body. Even senior spiritual masters would not seem to be a match for him.
Although the allied forces had studied and prepared for these aliens, it was still a completely different case once they already encountered them with their own eyes. For a brief moment, the aliens' overflowing aura drowned the allied army in fear and shock.
"You dare invade our land and capture our people for your own gain? How despicable you are! You have no right to claim what is rightfully ours!" Alyssa shouted in anger.
"Ha-ha! Despicable? This girl doesn't know what she's talking about. You should actually thank us because we are giving you the chance to be reborn. Your world has already lost its balance and future. Do you know that it should have been destroyed long ago? The Divine Spiritual Source of your world has now disappeared. This world is void of hope and salvation. You should know by now that you're just prolonging its inevitable destruction." The alien leader laughed wildly as he taunted Alyssa.
"So what if our world is approaching its ruin? It is our own business to mind. You have no right to interfere and say that you're just playing the role of the hands of fate! Today, all of you are going to be exterminated from the surface of the Wild Spirit Land! We will destroy the door that connects our worlds so that you can never step into our land ever again!" Alyssa roared in fury and boldly declared their stand against the invaders.
"Ha! These creatures are so stubborn that it pisses me off. Oh well, forget it. I would just waste my time speaking to the likes of you. I guess this is the strongest army that the Wild Spirit Land can gather, right? I'd like to thank you for saving me lots of trouble. I just need to finish all of you, and my job will be done," the alien leader said with a wicked grin.
"Your Majesty!" At this moment, Bryant nodded to Alyssa, signaling that the allied army was ready to attack at any time.
"Everyone, for the sake of the Wild Spirit Land, even if it cost us our lives, we must destroy that door in front of us! Let's show them the strength and dignity of the creatures of our land!" Alyssa exclaimed mightily. Her aura alone shook the mountains and rivers that surrounded them.
Immediately after, the allied forces responded to her call and roared with all their might. Their morale was so high and it seemed that they were pretty determined to battle it out until death.
"Attack!"
Upon Alyssa's command, the allied forces rushed forth and divided into three huge groups that simultaneously launched their vicious attacks according to their plan. Bryant and Moira led one group that confronted the aliens. The Magic Phoenix Empire, led by the Phoenix Master Clan, was the one responsible for relaying messages and the entire group's overall coordination. On the other hand, Alyssa and Evita led the army of the Timber Deity Empire and the ordinary spiritual beings of the Wood Clan to deal with the magical door.
"Your job is simple. Kill the ones who deserve death and keep the useful ones alive. It shouldn't be so hard to deal with these weaklings," the alien leader announced indifferently. Then, as their leader issued the order, hundreds of aliens charged forward.
The fierce battle between the Wild Spirit Land and the alien land was about to ensue. Most importantly, the fate of the creatures of the Wild Spirit Land was about to be determined.
Although there were only a few hundred members from the alien race, their strength was far above the masters at the Divine Stage. Hence, even though they were severely outnumbered, there wasn't a shred of fear or panic in their eyes. It was as if they were being attacked by an army of ants that they could easily trample beneath their feet.
In less than a day, the allied forces sustained serious losses on their side. However, despite their unfavorable condition, the ones who survived continued to fight hard against their indestructible opponents. Unfortunately, they had finally reached their limit.
In less than three days of nonstop exchange of blows, Bryant and most of the leaders of the spiritual race clans were captured by the opposing force. The enormous number of the allied forces was almost wiped out. At this point, only a few remaining spirit manipulators and members of the Wood Clan still stood firmly and struggled to destroy the door with Alyssa.
"Ha-ha! How amusing. This woman refuses to give up even though all hopes have abandoned them. However, she is to my liking. After I'm finished with this world, I'm going to make her mine," the alien leader said with a smirk on his face. Until now, he had never made even a single move. But even from the start, his attention was already drawn to Alyssa, who had put up quite an admirable struggle. He immediately showed great interest in her. Thus, he quickly turned into a dim light and appeared at the door in front of Alyssa.
At the sight of the alien leader, she was instantly filled with righteous indignation. Even though she was also exhausted at this point, she still exerted all her strength and attacked him with all her might. Her movements generated a powerful momentum that created violent whirlwinds around her.
"You have amazing talents and all of them will just be put to waste if you stay in this world. Why don't you come with me? I can make you stronger beyond what you can imagine." The alien leader gave a sincere and tempting invitation.
"No way!" Alyssa answered without hesitation.
"Ha-ha! You really astonish me, woman! Unfortunately, I will do whatever I want!" The alien leader burst into hysterical laughter upon hearing Alyssa's response.
Then, in a flash, Alyssa felt an intense force suddenly coming right at her, rendering her motionless. Under the pressure and impact of the atrocious force, she couldn't resist at all and fainted in an instant. As she lost her consciousness, the alien leader hurriedly pulled Alyssa into his arms.
Now that even Alyssa was captured, the rest of the spirit manipulators and the members of the spiritual race were in a state of chaos because they didn't know what to do in the absence of their leader. As expected, it didn't take long before all of the remaining members of the allied forces were either killed or captured.
"Take all of the captives back with us! We're going to hold a celebration tonight," the alien leader declared arrogantly, signaling the end of the war against the allied army. Then, he quickly flew back into the magical door and disappeared without a trace.
Soon enough, the news of the collapse of the allied forces and the invasion of the alien race spread like wildfire, causing an endless panic to the entire Wild Spirit Land. With the fall of the allied army and the capture of all its capable leaders, no one was left to save the Wild Spirit Land from its inevitable doom.
About a few days after the miserable failure of the allied forces to destroy the door at the mysterious area, Isis spent some time in the garden of the Palace City with Nigel in her arms. She looked very dejected and frustrated at the same time. Since she was quite aware that the attempt of the allied forces was the last resort to save the Wild Spirit Land, its failure also meant that everyone would face a tragic ending. Just at that moment, a golden light suddenly flashed from the sky and landed in the garden. Isis immediately held her son tightly and prepared herself to fight as she stared at the golden light.
However, when the light dissipated, it revealed a figure that she actually had been longing day and night.
"Basil..." All of the tension in her body instantly relaxed. She quickly threw herself into Rocky's arms as she still held Nigel in hers.
"Hey, how are you doing? Are both of you and Nigel doing okay?" Rocky took a deep breath and sighed softly as he finally held Isis and his son in his arms.
"Do you think I'm okay? Nigel has only seen you for a few times since he was born! He seldom has the chance to call you 'dad'. I am so lonely without you. Do you know that?" Isis began to tear up as she complained to Rocky.
Rocky just let out a bitter smile and patted the little boy's head.
At this time, Nigel suddenly mumbled softly, "D-dad?" Rocky was taken aback upon hearing this. He didn't expect that just hearing Nigel utter that word would make his emotions surge from his heart. Then, he tried his best to calm down as he gradually closed his eyes.
"Tell me. Is the Wild Spirit Land really going to perish?" Isis asked with a trace of reluctance in her voice. She bit her lip as she tried to suppress her tears from falling.
Knowing exactly what was going to happen, Rocky just nodded lightly and didn't utter a word.00000☐☐
