Chapter 1506 The Figure By The Waterfall
"Mr. Hayden, listen carefully. I'm new here and don't want to cause any trouble. You may know Eunice but don't you dare provoke me! Otherwise, I'll be anything but polite to you. Even though you're the son of the Summer Palace's leader, you'll never get the good end of the stick if you continue looking for trouble!" Rocky warned as he brushed past him.
Hayden trembled when he returned to his senses. By then, Rocky was already gone.
"How dare he..." Hayden's eyes widened and his face changed.
Meanwhile, Rocky walked for a short while before he discovered that Kohen, who was previously perched on his shoulder, had vanished. Its sudden disappearance reminded him of Ken.
"This isn't good," Rocky uttered as he shook his head. He narrowed his eyes in search of Kohen. The tiny beast didn't have much strength to protect itself. So if it came across someone with ill intentions, it'd be in trouble.
Fortunately, he was able to connect Kohen previously with the Mysterious Beast Transformation Skill. This allowed him to locate the beast no matter how far it ran off.
Without wasting another second, Rocky activated the Mysterious Beast Transformation Skill to replace Kohen. Soon, he entered a deserted bamboo forest. The crystal clear and alluring melody of a flute could be heard in the distance. The tune was peaceful and pleasant as it rang through the air. A moment later, Rocky could hear the undeniable sound of some special summoning power within the melody. Other spirit warriors would never be able to detect it. He could because of the Mysterious Beast Transformation Skill he cultivated that allowed him to not only communicate with beasts but sense all kinds of summoning power as well.
"The humans in the Ethereal Region aren't skilled at beast taming but some are able to summon a beast with a flute. This isn't just some simple task. I'll go and take a look," Rocky said with a beaming grin. He then morphed into a shadow and disappeared.
Soon, a waterfall came into his view. The water cascaded down as if the Milky Way was falling from the sky. Countless water droplets splashed and reflected the sun's rays into crystal clear light. At the bottom of the waterfall laid a pool of blue water. The steam emanating from it hovered above its surface like a hot spring.
Rocky noticed a beautiful figure standing by a huge stone on the pool's side. She held a bone flute in her hand. Although she didn't emanate any aura, he could tell that her strength was higher than his. Suddenly, a ripple appeared in the pool.
Splash!
A colossal water blue beast quickly jumped out of the water. It began to shake the water droplets off of its body carelessly and flicked them onto the beautiful woman by the pool.
"Water, you're so annoying!" the figure complained and then giggled in a sweet voice.
The giant beast let out a low growl that, although terrifying, revealed its playful innocence. "Water? What a lovely name!" Rocky shook his head and smiled.
"Who's there?" The delicate figure immediately turned around, revealing a gorgeous face. She looked like a fairy stuck in the mortal world. She had the innocence of a young girl but, from deep within her bones, she exuded a fascinating charm.
Rocky was momentarily stunned. Before he could react, the girl suddenly appeared in front of him. She looked disturbed and unhappy as her gaze traveled up and down his frame.
"I'm sorry I interrupted you," Rocky apologized with cupped hands as he came to his senses.
"This area is forbidden. How did you get in here?" the girl questioned him haughtily.
Given her age and strength, she had enough reason to act in such a manner.
"This area is forbidden? I didn't know. My spiritual beast ran in here accidentally so I entered to look for it," Rocky replied.
"Really? I can sense auras as far as several hundred meters away but I didn't feel any spiritual beast enter the area. That leads me to another strange thing. Why didn't I sense you enter either? Your aura.....” By then, the girl was confused by Rocky's aura. There were times it was faintly visible. However, he didn't appear to do this intentionally.
"Are you a new disciple at the Sky-suppressing School?" she guessed.
"Yes. That's a sharp pair of eyes you've got!" Rocky nodded.
"Judging by your aura, you're at the first grade of the Spirit Realm, right?" she asked hesitantly.
"Huh?" Rocky grinned to himself. He thought she was not that smart. How could a warrior at the first grade of the Spirit Realm possibly enter the Sky-suppressing School?
"Why are you so surprised?" The girl looked at him, confused.
"Nothing. I'm at the first grade of the Spirit Realm. Just as you said!" Rocky never expected that the girl with such high strength couldn't confirm his real strength. However, he didn't let it bother him. "What are you waiting for? Leave! If you're discovered here, you'll be expelled from the school," the girl warned him kindly.
"Really? But I haven't found my spiritual beast yet," Rocky replied, looking like a deer caught in headlights.
"I've told you. There's no spiritual beast here!" she grumbled.
"Oh? Then you won't mind if I take another look, right?" he replied as if he didn't hear her at all.
"Why don't you trust me?" The girl continued to glare at him. She already asked him to leave but she didn't expect him to be so stubborn.
"Don't get mad at me. Could you lend me your flute for a moment?" Noticing her anger, Rocky took a look at the flute she held and asked permission to use it.
"What are you doing?" she asked and looked at him warily.
"You'll soon replace out," he replied with a mysterious smirk.
After a moment's hesitation, she handed him her flute. If the other disciples from the Sky-suppressing School walked in on them right now, they'd be shocked with what they saw because it wasn't normal for her to easily hand over the well-known Spiritual Weapon of the Ethereal Region to Rocky.
However, the only thought that ran through her mind at the moment was to ask him to leave as soon as possible. She didn't have the mood to think more.
Once he had the flute in his hands, he immediately praised, "What an extraordinary Spiritual Weapon!"
"Hurry up!" she urged him with a frown.
Rocky grinned as he put the bone flute to his lips and began to play. He wasn't skilled at playing the instrument. The few simple notes he produced were not bad but not that good either.
When the melody reached the water blue spiritual beast's ears, it stood up and began dancing to it.
"Water? What are you doing?" The girl was stunned by what she saw. She couldn't understand why her spiritual beast was dancing to Rocky's melody.
Suddenly, the girl sensed the auras of countless beasts appearing from all directions as they made their way towards their location. She was astonished and confused by why the spiritual beasts came here. Soon, all the spiritual beasts that had their own masters within a thousand-kilometer radius from the bamboo forest began to converge to where Rocky was. It was as if the tune had summoned them to him. Their masters were at a loss for words and soon fell into a state of chaos.
Before long, the girl noticed the numerous beast shadows surrounding her.
"What... what did you do?" The girl's eyes were now wide as saucers. Not many things in the Ethereal Region could bring about such a reaction in her.
"Nothing. I just commanded my spiritual beast with the flute to return to me as soon as possible. It should be here soon." He then returned the flute to the girl who was still in a daze.
The girl took the bone flute silently but her eyes never left Rocky's. She still couldn't figure out how he managed to summon so many spiritual beasts effortlessly with just a few notes. Was it intentional or merely a coincidence? It blew her mind!
It was near impossible for a spirit warrior at the first grade of the Spirit Realm to imitate what he just did!
Just as her mind was beginning to fill with a myriad of thoughts, a tiny beast suddenly ran out of the crowd and jumped onto Rocky's shoulder with a tiny squeak.
"Why are you so happy, huh? Did you discover treasure?" Rocky asked the excited-looking Kohen.
At that moment, Kohen's stomach bulged, and then it spat out a saliva-covered root, which, upon closer inspection, turned out to be a magical treasure.
"Wait... Is this... the Earthly Dragon Root?" the girl asked once she laid her eyes on it.
"Do you know what this is, miss?" Rocky asked her with a smile.
"It's a rare spiritual treasure at the advanced Spiritual Infant stage that can improve warriors' strength. It was said there was a treasure in the Purple Bamboo Forest that caused many warriors to scramble for it but it disappeared later," the girl explained.
"Oh. Well, it appears Kohen, just like Ken, possesses exceptional treasure hunting abilities," Rocky murmured to himself happily. He was pleased knowing that he wouldn't run out of treasures for cultivation any time soon.
"What are you talking about?" the girl asked Rocky immediately out of curiosity, noticing that he was mumbling to himself.
"Nothing. I didn't prepare any gift in advance. How about I give you this spiritual treasure as compensation for my earlier disturbance?" Rocky took the root from Kohen's mouth and handed it to her.
"It's drenched in saliva. I don't want such a disgusting thing!" she exclaimed disdainfully. However, she couldn't help but take a few more glances at the root. Indeed, it was an exceptionally rare treasure. None of the ordinary spiritual treasures came close to it.
"Are you sure, miss? With your strength, I think you'll need this advanced Spiritual Infant stage treasure the most!" Rocky saw right through her.
She immediately hesitated. The root truly was in line with her Spiritual Infant's nature. If she could refine it, then she would be one step closer to cultivating an Imperial Soul.0000
