The Medallion -
Chapter 1533 The Thief
"This Army-blessing Scroll appears to be no ordinary divine treasure!" Rocky exclaimed with certainty.
"Of course! The Di Clan's divine treasure isn't just like any other divine treasure. Although it appears to be useless to ordinary masters, it will become as strong as a winged tiger once wielded by a brave and well-experienced general who will lead his army against the enemy. It will allow him to increase his strength tenfold or even more!" Eunice answered earnestly with pride
"Really? Why is this scroll so powerful? Can you tell me?" Rocky asked her curiously.
"It's said that this scroll's power dates back to a thousand years. It was written by a peerless master whom people regarded as the literary sage. Every sentence written within it can form a spiritual skill move. As long as you focus on reading the sentences in your mind, it will be able to cause immense damage. If you read an entire page, you'll be able to destroy countless people, the whole city, and even the entire country. On the other hand, it can also be used to protect your family, defend your country, and bring prosperity to the people. On top of that, all kinds of mysterious and extraordinary military strategies are recorded within its pages. According to the Supreme Ether Land's history, all the masters who obtained this treasure became death gods on the battlefield. They never failed to make a single one of their countless enemies tremble in fear!" Truthfully, Eunice didn't know much about the scroll at all. What she just shared was based on historical records as well as dubious rumors.
She didn't know whether the scroll was as powerful as people said it was. She only knew it as a legend.
"It sounds like a bug!" Rocky blurted out laughing.
"What are you talking about? I don't understand? What bug?" Eunice glanced at him, confused.
"It's no big deal. Because it's so rare to replace, it's no wonder the Di Clan is so desperate to retrieve it. Since there's a damaged page, let Kohen smell it and get familiar with its scent. It'll be able to replace the scroll,' Rocky instructed directly.
"Okay." Eunice nodded approvingly. It appeared she brought Rocky to the right place. Helping him solve his previous problems wasn't in vain.
Rocky then asked Kohen to sniff the remaining divine aura on the damaged page. After a few whiffs, Kohen's eyes lit up in exhilaration. It seemed to recognize it as an extraordinary divine treasure. "Do your job, little guy!" Eunice instructed Kohen as she stroked its tiny head.
Kohen snorted twice and appeared to enjoy her touch. Then it landed on the ground and began sniffing around. A moment later, it waved its claws in one direction.
"It's that way. Let's go!" Rocky urged on. He picked up Kohen and placed it on his shoulder as he headed towards the direction it pointed at with Eunice.
Although they had safely made it through the dangerous Peculiar Beast Island, it still wasn't safe in the Spiritual Sea Region. It was possible that they could encounter an even more treacherous place. Generally speaking, the chance of coming across an adventure was much higher than coming across danger in this region. Otherwise, the leaders of the Sky-suppressing School wouldn't have confidently allowed newcomers like Rocky to set foot on it.
In the Spiritual Sea Region, the warriors didn't even need to put energy into cultivating. As long as they absorbed the spiritual power that hovered and filled the air, they could easily increase their strength. Because of this, both of them didn't feel exhausted at all as they ran with all their might. They were able to reach and enter the depths of the Spiritual Sea Region in less than a day. Along the way, they managed to discover various rare fruits that would greatly increase their strength as well as some other rare, priceless materials. This was quite a rare opportunity for ordinary spirit warriors.
In the blink of an eye, daylight turned into midnight. Because it was dangerous to walk at night and they had traveled for an entire day, Rocky decided to replace a safe place to rest for the night and to continue their journey tomorrow.
Although Eunice wanted to replace the Army-blessing Scroll as soon as possible, she knew that some things couldn't be rushed. Thus, she didn't object to Rocky's plan. Finally, both of them lit a fire and set up camp beside a stream.
All kinds of wild fish swam in the stream, so their dinner was quite a feast. Eating wasn't necessary for them in the Spiritual Sea Region since it was enough for them to simply absorb the rich, ubiquitous spiritual power that hung in the air. However, they would be more satisfied if they had a few bites of a meal.
It wasn't difficult to prepare a fish-filled feast since Rocky's Magic Spiritual Space was equipped with a complete set of outdoor equipment including tables, bowls, and chopsticks. One would take a look and think that he was on vacation and not embarking on a task to seek out cultivation.
After the dishes were ready, Eunice's little face was in awe. She was astounded at how a normal man such as Rocky could whip up such amazing dishes in such a country.
The feast was so beautiful and exquisite that she couldn't help but pick up chopsticks and start tasting. Her eyes immediately widened as her face appeared to be overcome by a look of pure indulgence. "These are delicious! These are all on par with, or perhaps even better than, those meals made by chefs in restaurants!" Eunice praised him with exaggeration.
"Really? I don't think so," Rocky replied modestly.
"It's no big deal. Are you mocking me on purpose? If I can whip up such a good dinner, I guess I won't have to worry about getting married in the future." Eunice knew that being able to create such quick yet delectable dishes would help her become a more valuable wife. However, she might never have the chance to do so in her life.
"How old are you? Why are you so eager to get married?" Rocky couldn't help but ask and laugh.
"Isn't it normal to get married?" Eunice replied disdainfully.
"Yes, it is. But as a spirit warrior, you ought to focus on other things that matter more. Romantic love is nothing but a distraction," Rocky imparted to her with an understanding smile.
"Is it?" After all, Eunice was still a simple girl and didn't understand how complicated such feelings could be.
"You will understand one day." He didn't explain any further as he returned to enjoying his dinner.
Just as they were enjoying their quiet meal by moonlight, a short and black figure suddenly jumped out from one of the dense bushes at lightning speed. It rushed towards them and swept past their table. Then, they noticed that one of the roasted fishes was gone.
Then, the mysterious figure rushed into the grass on the other side.
A stunned Eunice looked to Rocky and asked, "Was that a spiritual beast?"
"It didn't look like a beast. It looked more like...a person. Definitely not a tall one." Although the black figure moved quickly, Rocky was able to determine that it was a human and not a spiritual beast. "It was a thief! Damn it! We have to catch him!" Eunice exclaimed ferociously.
"Forget it. We can't finish everything anyway." Rocky shot a carefree smile in her direction. Although he had yet to uncover the identity of the mysterious black figure, he decided not to make a big deal out of it. After all, it was just a fish. The figure obviously meant no harm.
