The Medallion
Chapter 1569 Put Down Your Weapons

But it was too late. A leopard-shaped spiritual beast rushed out of the grass directly towards a team member.

He was so frightened that his legs weakened and began to tremble for he didn't know how to escape. Just as the spiritual beast was about to bite him, a figure suddenly appeared wielding a military knife which he used to block the beast's razor-sharp teeth.

It was none other than Kye.

"Idiot! What are you waiting for? Run now!" Kye cursed loudly.

The team member quickly fled from the beast upon hearing his command.

As Kye wielded his knife fiercely, the spiritual beast swiftly retreated into the grass and disappeared.

Not long after, more spiritual beasts rushed out and attacked Rocky's team of spiritual warriors.

"It appears we still need to replace a way out of here," Rocky noted with a serious look. Realizing it wasn't safe to stay, he immediately summoned the Purple-flaming Phoenix.

Kye and his team were shocked when Rocky called upon his spiritual beast with the strength of a Spiritual Infant.

Once the Purple-flaming Phoenix appeared, it shot out a flame that burned all the grass within a hundred meters to ashes. The spiritual beasts that hid among the grass were then exposed. "Charge!" Rocky screamed intensely. He then led his team to engage in a fierce battle with the spiritual beasts.

Before long, some of the beasts were killed while others fled.

"Lead the way, Purple-flaming Phoenix!" Rocky commanded.

The Purple-flaming Phoenix flew in a straight line and burned all the grass in its path to ashes.

Soon, the phoenix created a wide road for Rocky and his team to walk on.

He continued to lead them on a quest for a safe route.

Half a day later, Rocky discovered one and led them towards it.

Deputy Commander Lin led the patrol team into the forest according to the route Rocky provided and began the search.

The forest was so vast that a day's search wasn't enough. Therefore, they set up camp on the spot and set up a tripwire to warn them of any incoming sneak attacks by the spiritual beasts.

"Let's continue the search for another day. If we're certain that there's no trace of the spiritual race's troops, we can then return to the Tiger Whisker Pass," Deputy Commander Lin informed Rocky. Truthfully, he didn't want to stay in such a dangerous area for too long.

"I agree." Of course, Rocky had no objections.

And the night passed without any danger.

The patrol team continued to go into and search deeper within the primeval forest. When they found no trace of the spiritual race's troops on the third day of their search, Deputy Commander Lin was ready to lead the team back. But not long after, they accidentally stumbled upon an entrance to a valley where they discovered a statue that was half-human and half-beast.

"Deputy Commander Lin, have you been to this valley before?" Rocky asked the deputy commander out of curiosity.

"No, I've never been to this forest before." The deputy commander shook his head.

"Shall we get into the valley and search it?" Rocky suggested. Mysterious places always piqued his curiosity.

"Well..." Deputy Commander Lin hesitated. In fact, he didn't want to enter.

"Then let me lead the spirit warriors on a search!" Rocky proposed once he saw through the commander's mind.

"Okay," Deputy Commander Lin agreed reluctantly.

After that, Rocky led the spirit warriors to the valley's entrance while the deputy commander and the others waited for them at the entrance.

Rocky and his team were immediately shocked by the scene in front of them. It was a relic of ancient buildings that were once in the valley. It seemed that either the human race or the spiritual race had lived here before. Most of the relic looked intact, with many of the palace buildings still recognizable.

"What the hell is this place?" Kye asked Rocky who stood beside him.

"A civilization must've lived here before," Rocky replied in amazement.

"Captain! Look at this stone tablet!" one of the spirit warriors exclaimed once he discovered something.

Rocky rushed over. The spirit warrior pointed towards a huge tablet split in two. Its upper hand was placed flat on the ground while the lower half remained erect.

He walked towards it quickly and carefully studied the words on the stone tablet. He was stunned to replace that the words were extremely similar to the language of the Star Divine Race.

'Did the Star Divine Race used to live here? But how could the Star Divine Race civilization have reached the Supreme Ether Land?' Rocky thought to himself, stunned.

'Did some powerful Star Divine Race warriors move to the Supreme Ether Land a long time ago? But how did they even enter the land in the first place?' Rocky couldn't help but continue to ask questions in his head.

"Can you understand the inscriptions, Captain Basil?" Kye rushed up and questioned him.

"Of course not." Rocky shook his head. He didn't want the others to know what he discovered.

"Nothing special here. Let's go back," Kye suggested with indifference. Seeing that it was just either human remains or the spiritual race civilization's remains, he gave it no further thought.

"Let's go." Although Rocky was still quite curious about the contents of the stone tablet, he couldn't reveal that he understood its inscriptions. Thus, he ordered all of them to leave.

Just as they were about to depart from the valley, they suddenly felt a rumble. It sounded like galloping horses. It felt as though an army was approaching the valley.

Rocky and the others had a horrible feeling in their gut. They were shocked by what they saw once they rushed out of the valley.

An army of spiritual beasts was led by a single spiritual beast which had reached the Emperor Realm. They surrounded Deputy Commander Lin and the patrol team.

"I have a bad feeling about this," Rocky commented, his voice devoid of emotion.

"Spiritual King Basil! You've arrived just in time. What should we do now? Are we going to break out the encirclement?" Deputy Commander Lin was slightly flustered as well. Although he bravely fought hundreds of times on the battlefield, he had never gone up against such an orderly army of spiritual beasts before.

"Calm down!" Rocky immediately stopped Deputy Commander Lin from breaking out of the encirclement. This army they faced was clearly not formed at the spur of the moment and had possibly occupied this area for a long time. The spiritual beasts only appeared once Rocky and his team broke into the valley. They must've seen them as intruders.

However, Rocky still didn't understand why the army guarded the ancient civilization ruins. It was inconceivable!

"Deputy Commander Lin, order the troops to lay down their weapons and stand down," Rocky told the deputy commander immediately.

"What? Put down our weapons? But why?" Deputy Commander Lin looked at Rocky in confusion. He couldn't understand why Rocky would make such a request.

"Just listen to me," Rocky pleaded in a serious tone.

Realizing he was serious, Deputy Commander Lin momentarily hesitated before he ordered his troops. "Put down your weapons!"

The soldiers and spirit warriors were just as dismayed and flustered. But they knew better than to disobey the deputy commander's order. They all laid their weapons aside.☐☐☐☐☐
