The Medallion
Chapter 1572 The New Experiment

"Thank god you were here. Otherwise, the patrolling team would have suffered even more than last time. The border battlefield hasn't been fun. The soldiers' lives are at risk constantly. Plus, we're not even going to the battlefield. We're only carrying out a patrol. I'm afraid things can get a lot more dangerous," Eunice said, sighing deeply.

"Do you regret coming with me?" Rocky asked, looking straight at her.

"No. Now that we're here, let's stay and enjoy it. Besides, there's nothing I can do about it. I can't finish my task if I can't bring you back to the Di Clan," Eunice replied, curling her lips.

"I'll go back with you once I replace my companions. Oh yeah! I was lucky enough to come across one during the patrol!" Rocky exclaimed suddenly.

"You saw one? Seriously?" Eunice asked. Her eyes were wide. She had been waiting to hear news like this for a long time.

"Yes." Rocky nodded.

"That's great. Now that you've found one, things will be much easier for you!" Eunice wore a large smile on her face. She was happy that Rocky was finally making progress in his mission.

"I don't think so. She was alone, and she laid some bad news on me. One of my most respected old friends passed away," Rocky added. His eyes turned dark as he looked at the floor. "Oh. I'm sorry for your loss." Eunice didn't know what else she could say to comfort him.

"And I have no way of knowing if he was the only one. I just can't imagine that I might never see the rest of them again. I have to replace them as soon as possible using any method that I can..." Rocky said firmly. "Then I will do my best to assist you! I can't be released from you unless you replace all your companions!" Eunice had never seen any of this coming. In the past, she was a disciple of the Di Clan and she could do anything she wanted in the Ethereal Region. However, since she had met Rocky, she had been doomed to an unwanted life and she had had to stick by his side.

"That's more than enough. If you can't leave me, I suppose replaceing them will be a good thing for both of us," Rocky replied with a meaningful smile.

"Get out of here!" For some reason, Eunice could not understand what Rocky had meant. She cast a glare at him and then pushed him out of the door. She slammed it behind him, leaving him alone on the stoop.

Rocky laughed before he traipsed away.

Meanwhile, Elliot learned that Rocky had returned and was naturally a little restless. Despite spending a long time thinking about it, he couldn't figure out why Rocky was still alive. He had given a lot of money to his friends and asked them to hire a killer from the most famous organization in the Ethereal Region. But instead of killing Rocky the easy way, his painstaking efforts ended in vain. Rocky was still alive and Elliot was filled to the brim with guilt.

In his mind, the killer must have failed and been killed by Rocky. What if before that, the killer had revealed that he was their employer? If that were the case, Rocky would never let him go.

The more Elliot thought about it, the more cold sweat broke out on his forehead.

'I think I'd better ask Uncle Tucker for some sick leave and go back to my hometown to hide for a while,' Elliot thought.

However, just as he was about to do so, the curtain of the camp blew open and a gust of cold wind poured in. Elliot shivered and walked over to fasten it shut.

After fixing it, he turned around. A figure wearing purple was standing silently behind him.

"Oh, my! Who are you? What do you want from me?" Elliot shouted, clutching at his chest.

"I am the killer," the figure replied without any emotion.

"The killer? Hold on... You're the killer that I paid to kill Basil! I spent a handsome amount of money on that! Well, you're here just in time. Why is Basil still alive? I thought that the killers from your organization were very powerful. They must just have a pretty name and nothing else. Why didn't you finish your job?" Elliot immediately puffed up his chest in a show of power. After all, he was the boss who had spent the large sum of money.

"Sorry, we can't accept your orders. Here is your previous commission and the compensation." The figure threw a heavy bag onto the table.

"What? Why? I was told that your organization never turned down any orders. Is something wrong?" Elliot shouted, staring at the bag with an open mouth and furrowed eyebrows.

"Yes. The person you want killed is not an ordinary person," the figure replied.

"What are you talking about? He's only a Spiritual King. Can't you kill a Spiritual King? You're useless!" Elliot spat, throwing his arms around in the air to prove his point.

"He's not like other ordinary people. It's not because of his strength. It's because of his identity." Suddenly, the figure's stunning eyes turned cold and sharp.

"Identity? What the hell does he have that I don't?" Elliot continued to curse.

"Watch your mouth!" The delicate figure leapt forward and pressed the sword in her hand directly against Elliot's neck.

Elliot trembled with fear and stayed completely still. This person's aura was obviously stronger than his. Even if he were to fight back, it would be like beating a stone with an egg.

"I want you gone from the Tiger Whisker Pass after today, and take that money as far as possible. Otherwise, your family will have to come to your tomb to visit you the next year," the figure both ordered and threatened.

"I... I will. I'll leave straight away. I don't want to stay here anyway!" Elliot shouted. In a way, it felt as if he had been granted a pardon.

However, when Elliot raised his head again, the delicate figure was gone and hadn't left a single strand of hair behind.

"What the hell! Now I can't stay in the Tiger Whisker Pass any longer. Even if I don't get killed by this bitch, Basil will be after me. I'd better replace a faster way out. The compensation from the killer should be enough to get me where I need to go. Damn it! Once I get a chance, I'll come back and finish things with Basil!" Then, Elliot scrambled to pick up the parcel containing the compensation, wrote a letter to Tucker, and ordered someone to bring it to him. He left the Tiger Whisker Pass during the night.

The moment that Tucker received Elliot's letter, fury filled him. But because he was family, he could only accept the fact and told others that Elliot was seriously ill and had returned to his hometown. When Rocky learned what Elliot had done, he guessed that he must have been afraid that his criminal side had been unmasked so he fled from Tiger Whisker Pass. The thing was, Rocky didn't intend to punish Elliot straight away. After all, if it weren't for Elliot, he wouldn't have been able to replace Shirley. In addition, he had to consider Tucker. He wouldn't risk ruining his plan over a man like Elliot.

A few days later, Rocky managed to successfully develop a new type of gene. It could be used to transform ordinary people and improve their physique.

Of course, whether the new gene was really useful or not depended on a specific test subject.

Meanwhile, Maxwell had volunteered and was being injected with a new type of gene from Rocky's Magic Spiritual Space.

"Okay. Stay lying on the bed. If you feel any discomfort, just let me know," Rocky instructed once he was finished. Maxwell looked up at him from where he was still lying on the operating table.
