The Medallion
Chapter 1596 Stay Alone

"Sir, all you need to do is to assemble the troops and lead them five hundred meters to the west from the Wild Hill Pass. When you arrive there, you will see a hole in the ground in front of you. Don't be afraid to enter the hole and walk along the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, you will replace the Tiger Whisker Pass," Rocky explained clearly.

"Really?" Tucker had no idea that Rocky had created a passage out of nowhere that connected straight to the Tiger Whisker Pass. It was perfect!

All the soldiers that were present also exchanged looks of shock. In their eyes, Rocky was currently as smart as a god.

"Yes. You heard me right. I have taken the time to arrange everything in advance," Rocky said and confirmed, nodding his head.

"Basil, I must admit that you have really thought this out. You're so well-prepared!" Tucker exclaimed, looking at Rocky in pure awe.

"We don't have much time left for chatting. Sir, you'd better get ready and leave as soon as you can," Rocky responded after a flash of a smile.

"Okay." Tucker nodded and then began gathering the remaining soldiers and spirit warriors. He prepared them all to leave.

At the same time, Rocky met with those one thousand soldiers, including Maxwell, and formed them into a small team. He ordered them to collect all the cooking utensils and pots they could replace and to make sure that each of the soldiers had one.

When everything was ready, Rocky explained his plan to the team. He asked them to wait until the mist emerged and then to scatter and make as much noise as possible. That would make the army of the spiritual race think that all their troops were launching a fierce attack. In that time, Tucker would have led the troops to a safe place.

After they were sure they understood the plan, Maxwell and the other soldiers followed Rocky to the old city gate of the Wild Hill Pass and prepared themselves.

The soldiers' morale was just high enough for Rocky to display his Army-blessing Scroll.

"Come forth mist..."

As soon as Rocky had finished his words, the sky got darker and the air began to whirl. Gradually, mist seeped from the earth and quickly spread, covering the whole area. "Take action now!" Rocky whispered to his men.

Then, one thousand soldiers, including Maxwell, split into several groups. They rushed into the spiritual race's camp while beating on gongs, drums, pots and whatever they had to make as much noise as possible. It played out just as Rocky had imagined it.

Meanwhile, the army of the spiritual race was resting in the camp. Suddenly, they heard the sounds outside coming closer and closer. They rushed out of the camp to see what was going on and they realized that a thick mist was crawling through the air. In the mist, they could barely make out some figures.

A commander immediately ran into Phelps's tent and reported, "Sir, bad news! The human army is taking advantage of the rising mist and trying to attack us!"

"What? How dare they? Gather the whole army and get ready to fight!" Phelps ordered as he jumped up from his bed.

It didn't take long for the army of the spiritual race to stumble outside and gather near the camp. They stood around, waiting for the human race to attack them. However, half an hour had passed and the army of the human race had not made a move. All they could see was the outline of people flashing deep in the mist.

"Sir, how about we go into the mist and attack them first?" someone suggested uneasily.

"No. They must have set a trap. They are probably waiting for us to become impatient and enter the mist. Send our spies to confirm their strength first," Phelps commanded in a calm tone.

A few of their spies ran into the mist to see what they were up against, but because the mist was so thick, they instantly became lost in it. They couldn't see, let alone determine their enemy's abilities.

In the end, the spies were forced to return empty-handed and report to their commander, "Sir, the mist is too thick. We can't do what you asked!"

"How did the mist get this thick? Damn it!" Phelps cursed, forming fists with his hands.

"Sir, what should we do now? Should we enter the mist and fight or wait here?" someone asked.

"This kind of weather will put us at a disadvantage. Never act before figuring out your enemy's strength!" Phelps said. The mist seemed strange to him and he was also worried that it might be a trap made by the human army. In his eyes, the best way of dealing with the situation was to do nothing and wait.

Therefore, the team led by Rocky had made the army of the spiritual race too scared to attack them under the cover of the mist summoned by the Army-blessing Scroll.

Meanwhile, Tucker was leading the rest of the troops to the position that Rocky had told them about.

As soon as they arrived, Tucker and the soldiers found a mound of loose dirt. Not long after, a gaping, black hole ate away at the soil. In it, there was a tunnel wide enough for three of them to walk side by side They stood there and watched as a shadow came out of it. Tucker and the soldiers were scared so no one volunteered to approach it. They didn't feel relief until the shadow dove into the soil and disappeared. "Sir, is this the passage that Basil prepared for us?" Deputy Commander Ma asked, staring into the depths of the tunnel.

"I think so." Tucker nodded.

"Wow. I didn't think he was capable of making a spiritual beast dig a tunnel for us," Deputy Commander Ma said after his mouth stopped hanging open.

All the other soldiers also looked at the hole with great admiration swimming in their eyes.

Tucker knew that they didn't have much time, so he immediately began to arrange the retreat. "Enough talking! Head down the tunnel now! We have to get back to the Tiger Whisker Pass!"

Stepping down into the hole, Tucker and Deputy Commander Ma guided their people into the tunnel one after another and made their way towards the Tiger Whisker Pass.

In the meantime, Rocky had successfully tricked the army of the spiritual race. He called his men back to him. Because the mist would soon dissipate and allow the army of the spiritual race to see them, he had to retreat quickly.

Rocky gathered and accounted for all his men before leading them along their planned path.

Before long, the mist was gone.

Straight away, Phelps sent more spies to investigate the movements of the army of the human race, but they soon discovered that the army who had just been so aggressive had left.

When Phelps learned of this, he got a bad feeling. Wasting no time, he immediately sent a commander and five thousand soldiers into the Wild Hill Pass. However, they came back with the news that the Wild Hill Pass was also empty.

"Damn it! We were fooled!" It had never occurred to Phelps that the army of the human race in the mist had been a diversion.

"Sir, they can't run far. Let's take our army and chase after them!" a commander suggested.

"Send for more people and track them separately!" Phelps shouted.

So each of the three commanders gathered three thousand troops and set off. They tried to catch up with the army of the human race by cornering them in three different directions.

When Rocky saw that they were being pursued, he immediately asked his men to keep going while he stayed behind and waited for the enemy.
