Chapter 1637 Leave It To Fate
"I see." Rocky nodded, smiling.
"So, where are we going next?" Eunice asked.
"To the border of the spiritual race." The moment Rocky was done speaking, he summoned the Purple-flaming Phoenix. They climbed on the phoenix's back and flew away.
Meanwhile, after many days of stealthily walking through forests, Sabina, Shirley, and Marcia finally reached the base camp of the spiritual race's army that was located on the border.
"Wait for me here," Marcia told the other two. Then, she crept into the base camp of the spiritual race.
Soon after, Marcia entered Alyssa's tent.
Immediately, Alyssa sensed a strange aura in her presence and subconsciously launched a stream of spiritual power to attack the visitor.
Without panicking, Marcia tapped her delicate hands together and a ball of bright light rushed out of them. The two spiritual forces collided in the air and a strong wave of pressure spread, filling the entire tent.
Marcia had sensed Alyssa's strength from her attack, so she smiled and exclaimed, "Alyssa, I didn't know you have already reached the Emperor Realm!"
The sound of the familiar voice left Alyssa stunned. When the light in front of her disappeared, she squinted her eyes and saw Marcia standing in front of her.
"Preceptor Marcia, long time no see! How have you been?" Alyssa greeted, feeling a wave of emotion wash over her.
"Well, I'm fine. But it looks like you are doing much better than me. You've managed to unify the army of the spiritual race..." Marcia said, deliberately teasing her. She knew that there must a valid reason why Alyssa had become the commander in chief of the spiritual race, but from her point of view, Alyssa was still a powerful enemy.
"When did you learn how to make fun of a person?" Alyssa retorted.
"I didn't. I'm just stating the truth," Marcia replied frankly.
"All jokes aside, you've come to the spiritual race to replace me. That must mean that Basil has found you." She was smart, allowing her to guess correctly on the first try.
"Yes." Marcia nodded.
"Where is he now?" Alyssa asked.
"He had other things to do. Once he's done, he will meet us here!"
"Oh. You didn't come alone?" Alyssa continued.
"No. Sabina and Shirley came with me," Marcia replied.
"How did you escape?"
"Sabina and I, along with some elite members from the Holy Dragon Empire, were captured and sent to the border battlefield to perform heavy labor. After a while, we saw an opportunity to escape and we took it. But because we don't know this land well enough, we were forced to sneak into the human army and pretend to be human soldiers to hide our identities..." Marcia recalled for Alyssa.
"Really? It sounds like you've been through a lot," Alyssa remarked. Marcia's eyes narrowed slightly.
"What about you? How did you suddenly become the commander in chief of the spiritual army?" Marcia asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
"It's a long story. To put it simply, I made a deal. If I can lead the spiritual race army to defeat the human race, I can bring our people back to our original world," Alyssa said, finally sharing the secret that she had kept close to her heart for a long time.
"Did you make a deal with the spiritual race or..." Marcia asked hesitantly.
"The Shura Race," Alyssa replied frankly.
"The race that will benefit most from the war between the human race and the spiritual race is the Shura Race. They made you into the commander in chief of the spiritual race because they want to see the human race defeated by the spiritual race. It is all in their best interest!" Marcia speculated.
"You're right." The whole time, Alyssa had been aware of the intentions of the Shura Race.
"Are you sure that the Shura Race will keep their promise?" Based on Marcia's knowledge about the Shura Race, they didn't seem very reliable or trustworthy.
"I'm not sure, but at least there's hope," Alyssa replied.
"But now I'm a grand commander of the human army, and Basil is also a commander. Our positions are complete opposites."
"It doesn't matter. You two won't stop the decline of the human race. You'd be better off standing by and watching it happen. And then, after I defeat the human race, you will go back home with me..." Alyssa explained.
"I can't make any decisions. You will have to talk to Basil." The truth was, a part of Marcia agreed with Alyssa. Any chance of going home was worth sacrificing others. However, she knew Rocky and she understood that he would never stand by and watch as the war happened between the human race and the spiritual race.
"Once he gets here, I will talk to him. You go and bring the two girls in and disguise yourselves as messengers of the spiritual race. I will arrange the rest," Alyssa said.
Marcia nodded and then left the camp to retrieve Sabina and Shirley. After the three women had disguised themselves, they casually strode into the camp of the spiritual race as messengers. Alyssa arranged for the three women to stay in a separate tent and wait for Rocky to come.
Three days later, Rocky and Eunice arrived at the border of the spiritual race. After some sneaking, they entered the base camp of the spiritual race army and met with Marcia and the others. They conferred and then Rocky met with Alyssa alone to discuss their next moves.
It had been a long time since their last meeting and they looked at each other with passion in their eyes.
Nevertheless, they put aside their personal feelings and got straight to the point.
Since Marcia had informed Rocky about Alyssa's mission in advance, Rocky knew that they were faced with a conflict.
"Alyssa, I have promised the Di Clan that I will help the human army defeat the spiritual race army. If one of us doesn't back down, we will have a problem on our hands," Rocky said bluntly.
"Maybe it's fate. We have to compete again on the battlefield. I don't see that as a bad thing. No matter which side wins the war, we will get the chance to return to our original world. I think we should leave the ending to fate..." Alyssa said honestly.
"So you want a battle to occur between the spiritual race army and the human army until one of the parties dies?" Rocky asked, squinting his eyes.
"Yes. We are only one step away from victory. There is no reason to quit now," Alyssa replied.
"Okay. I guess we will fight on the battlefield." Rocky knew that once Alyssa made up her mind, it was almost impossible for her to change it. Besides, Alyssa had worked hard to get to where she was. He had no reason to ask her to surrender, but he would not go back on his word because of Alyssa's decision.
"Now that we're done talking about business, shall we talk about our personal affairs?" As soon as Alyssa was done talking, her beautiful eyes shone and she approached Rocky.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
