The Medallion
Chapter 1650 Changed Plans

Three days later, under the guardians' protection, Rocky and his companions finally arrived at the entrance of the Demon Valley.

The guardians had found a safe place to camp, and thus it didn't take long before they were settled.

"Mr. Basil, we will stop here. Once you rendezvous with your other companions, we guards will have to withdraw from this matter," Colton said to Rocky and Marcia once they were settled in the camp. "Okay, thank you for all your hard work, Commander in Chief Colton. Please forward my thanks to your chief when you get back. Without the help of the Di Clan, I'm afraid we wouldn't have gotten here so smoothly," Rocky said gratefully.

"You're welcome, Mr. Basil. It's not a big deal. You've done so much more for our clan and the human race as a whole," Colton said with a smile. He looked at Rocky with great admiration.

After exchanging a few more words, Rocky and Marcia then left Colton's tent.

"Do you need me to head into the Demon Valley first to check the route?" Marcia asked Rocky.

"Okay, sounds like a plan." Rocky knew that the second they entered the valley, in order to reach the door on the other side, they had only their strength to rely on. It was better for them to be prepared. Thus, Marcia left the camp with Sabina and entered the Demon Valley to scout.

Meanwhile, a few miles away from the northwest side of the Demon Valley, a team of hundreds of people was rapidly approaching the entrance of the valley. The leader of this team was Alyssa, who had planned to meet Rocky at the entrance.

"Your Majesty, we will arrive at the Demon Valley in half a day," a general of Timber Deity Empire reported to Alyssa.

"Great. Basil and the others should already be waiting for us at there," Alyssa guessed, staring absentmindedly into the horizon.

Just as she thought everything was going smoothly, something unexpected happened just a mile away from the entrance of the valley. In the blink of an eye, a troop of thousands of soldiers of the Shura Race emerged from out of nowhere and surrounded Alyssa and her team.

"Alyssa, you really disappoint me!" A tall figure walked to the forefront of the Shura Race's troops, his eyes revealing a deep hatred.

If Rocky were here, he would've been very surprised. The tall figure was Canaan.

However, this figure was not the real Canaan. He was actually one of the important members of the Shura Race's royal family.

"Jonathan!" Alyssa recognized him at first sight. He was the one who had captured her and gave her a choice.

"Oh, you still remember me?" Jonathan asked mockingly. If you remember me, you must also remember the promise you made to me." His voice sent a chill down Alyssa's spine. Because Alyssa betrayed him, his plan, which he had worked hard on, had ultimately failed.

"I haven't forgotten," Alyssa said through gritted teeth. "I was only forced to make that promise at the time."

"Ha-ha, the weak are the prey to the strong. It's a survival of the fittest in this cruel world-and if you do survive, you only grow stronger. I offered you a chance to become stronger, chance to let you establish your position in the spiritual race. If you only followed my plan, after you defeat the human race, you would've become an invaluable person in the spiritual race." Jonathan threw his head back and laughed like a crazed maniac.

"I don't care!" Alyssa snorted.

"It seems that you are determined to let me down. You can't blame me for being ruthless with you." He smiled deviously. "Kill them all. Leave no one alive, except for Alyssa!"

Hearing this, Alyssa's expression darkened. Immediately, she turned to the general beside her. "Take the other people and retreat now. I'll cover for you."

"Never! We swore to follow you and are willing to follow you to the ends of the world!" The general immediately knelt on one knee and swore allegiance loyally.

The rest of the people of Timber Deity Empire also knelt down to Alyssa, unfazed by the idea of death.

"Well then, let's go out together." Seeing this, Alyssa felt moved. If anything, now more than ever, she was determined to defeat Jonathan.

Then, she let out a battle cry and led her people to confront the enemy, trying to break past the enemy lines.

However, Jonathan's troop was an elite army made up of powerful spirit warriors. Their combined strength was a force to be reckoned with.

Thus, it didn't take long before the results of the fierce battle played out. When the dust cleared and Alyssa's adrenaline died down, she looked around to see that all her troops had been annihilated. Only her general remained, and even he was badly injured.

Alyssa, whose body was covered in blood, stared at the corpses on the ground beside her. In that moment, she was overcome with anger and sadness. Determined to never submit to Jonathan, she roared and rushed to him like a bolt of lightning.

Unfortunately, before Alyssa could get close to him, she was intercepted by one of his people.

"Bring him here," Jonathan said in an almost bored tone, pointing at the general of Timber Deity Empire.

When the general was brought over, Jonathan cupped his chin and yanked his head upwards violently to look him in the eye. "Go and tell your precious Basil that I will be waiting for him by the door." After saying that, he took the captured Alyssa and led the troops away.

Having no other choice, the general helplessly gritted his teeth. Enduring the excruciating pain from his injuries, he rushed over to the entrance of the valley.

Before dark, the general finally made it to the entrance. He hobbled into the camp, but due to his serious injury, he collapsed into a heap before he was able to say anything.

As soon as Rocky and Colton heard the news, they rushed to the general's side. Seeing that he was seriously injured, they worked together to heal him.

Four hours later, the general finally woke up.

"Your... Your Highness..." The general's eyes widened as soon as he recognized Rocky.

"You must be one of Alyssa's generals. What happened? How did you get so badly hurt? Where is Alyssa?" Rocky's brows knitted anxiously. He knew that something big must have happened.

The general told them the whole story immediately. Rocky and Colton wore grave expressions. They didn't expect their whereabouts would be leaked, let alone Alyssa being captured.

"In that case, the Shura Race probably knows why we're here. They must have set up traps around the door." Rocky frowned deeply.

"We can't take the risk. I think you'd better give up the plan of returning to your world for now!" Colton immediately advised. If the Shura Race indeed knew their purpose for being here, it would be no different from throwing themselves into the net if they went about their original plan.

"No, Alyssa is still in their hands. I can't leave her!" Rocky said resolutely.000000
