The Medallion -
Chapter 1673 Astonishment
"It's true. Leader, please avenge me," Armando said angrily.
"Do you know who did this?" Gilbert asked.
"I don't. But my son had a conflict with him in the slum," Armando answered.
"Slum?" Gilbert frowned upon remembering something.
"Do you know who he is?" Armando felt something was off once he saw the expression on Gilbert's face.
"I might know him," Gilbert nodded.
"Bring him here. I need to ask him in person why he bullied my son and forced him to take poison," Armando commanded fiercely.
"Are you sure it was him who made trouble for your son?" Gilbert asked. He knew what kind of person Armando's son was. He suspected that Rocky wasn't the one at fault.
"What do you mean? Do you think I'm talking nonsense?" Of course Armando would defend his son by not admitting that his son was forced to take the poison because he wanted to forcefully take away a woman from the slum.
"Well, I'll order someone to send for him so you can confront him face-to-face. But I must warn you that he's no ordinary person. If it turns out your son is at fault, I'll deal with it according to our laws," Gilbert replied bluntly.
"Who the hell is he?" Armando couldn't help but ask.
"Prefect Ba, you'll know when he's here," Gilbert said, deliberately keeping him in suspense.
He swiftly ordered his men to head to the Ghost Palace and retrieve Rocky.
After returning to the Ghost Palace a while ago, Rocky expected that he would be summoned soon. Once he saw Gilbert's men, he spoke before they had the chance to say something. "Go back and tell your leader that if Prefect Ba wants the antidote, he should ask me in person here at the palace."
Hearing that, the people sent by Gilbert were also in a dilemma. But obviously, Rocky did not intend to go with them, so they had to go back and report this to Gilbert.
When Armando heard what Rocky had to say, he flew into a rage. Apart from Gilbert, he was practically the most powerful man in the Ghost Fief, yet Rocky asked him to humbly beg for the antidote. His reputation would surely be tainted.
"Leader, who the hell is this man? He's so arrogant that he even has the nerve to turn down your invitation. Is he Esteban? No, that's not possible. My son told me he's merely a young man," Armando said.
"I can't force him. He's the Godly Genius." Gilbert finally revealed Rocky's identity after thinking for a while.
"What? The Godly Genius?" Armando was stunned. He never thought his son would mess with such an individual.
"Huh? The Godly Genius?" Brett was just as flabbergasted.
"I'm afraid you'll have to deal with it on your own, Prefect Ba." It seemed Gilbert didn't want to stand up for Armando this time.
"Bastard! Why did you provoke the Godly Genius?" Armando turned around and scolded his son.
But Armando knew that if he couldn't retrieve the antidote, his son would probably really die. So he swallowed his pride and rushed towards the Ghost Palace. Once he arrived at the palace gate, he announced loudly, "The prefect of the Ghost Capital, Armando Ba, has arrived to meet the Godly Genius!"
"Prefect Ba, you're late. I thought you'd be more worried about your son's safety." Rocky walked out of the Ghost Palace slowly once he heard Armando's voice. "Please forgive my son and give him the antidote, sir," Armando begged Rocky.
"I've prepared the antidote and will hand it to you, but only if you agree to my three conditions." This was exactly why Rocky asked for Armando to come. "Please go ahead, sir."
"First, your son is banished from stepping foot into the slum. Otherwise, death is what will await him," Rocky expressed.
"I will discipline him further to prevent him from doing anything stupid ever again!" Armando agreed readily.
"Second, we hope you'll reduce the heavy taxes placed on the poor people inhabiting the slum," Rocky continued.
"It won't be easy. The taxes applied to them are the same as the others. It will be challenging," Armando replied awkwardly.
"That's none of my business. I just want to know if you can do it." Rocky looked straight into the prefect's eyes. "Okay. I'll do my best," Armando agreed through gritted teeth. In fact, lowering the taxes would be a piece of cake for him. "Third, you will donate one hundred thousand Shura Coins to build houses for the people residing in the slum."
"What? One hundred thousand Shura Coins?" Armando swallowed. Although the amount wasn't too much for him, it wasn't a small number. Using it to build homes for the people in the slum would be of no benefit to him.
"I don't think it's too big of a number for you. If you agree to all three conditions, I'll give you the antidote immediately," Rocky proposed with a sly smile as if he was certain Armando would agree to the terms he
set.
"Alright. I agree." Armando knew that if he rejected Rocky's offer, he would never get the antidote. He would compromise for the sake of his son. After all, those three conditions were nothing compared to his child's life.
"This is the antidote." A little black ball suddenly shot out of Rocky's hand.
Armando immediately reached out to grab it.
"I won't see you off, Prefect Ba." Rocky then turned around and entered the Ghost Palace.
Armando snorted before he left.
"Hey, little guy, Armando is famous for being stubborn and prejudiced. You may have taken the upper hand this time, but be careful of his vengeance." Once Rocky entered the palace, Esteban looked at him with joy. It was the first time that Armando had suffered losses.
"He can take his revenge as much as he wants. I'm not afraid," Rocky declared with a disapproving smile.
"But did you really poison his son?" Esteban asked suspiciously.
"Poison? Where would I get poison? You haven't taught me how to refine it, so why would I have any?" Rocky shrugged.
"You are one cunning boy!" Esteban burst into laughter.
"Like teacher, like student!"
Two days later, Rocky returned to the slum and saw a lot of new houses being constructed. It seemed Armando did keep his promise. It stated that this was by the order of the Godly Genius. It was apparent that Armando wanted to please Rocky.
But the people in the slum were unaware of Rocky's true identity. All they knew was that they had hope for a better life thanks to the Godly Genius.
The one month deadline set for Gilbert quickly passed. Tomorrow, the progress of the cultivation of the nine Godly Geniuses would be announced. Meanwhile, a magnificent palace could be seen floating above the northernmost peak of the continent.
At that moment, a beautiful figure looked at the nine pillars of divine power in front of her in the palace. One of the pillars had suddenly grown by five inches. The look of genuine shock was clear as day on her delicate face.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
