The Medallion
Chapter 1679 Getting Hurt

"Grey, what happened?" Seeing the restless expression on Grey's face, Rocky instantly knew that something bad must have happened.

"There're people over there who want to monopolize the houses that the Godly Genius built for us!" Grey said as he panted.

"What? Who would be so bold to do that?" Rocky replied as his eyes grew rather cold.

"I actually don't know who they are because they are not from our slum. However, they wear the same ragged clothes as us, so we suspect that they are bandits from other places..." Grey said hesitantly as he shook his head.

"Bandits, huh?" Rocky's eyes narrowed the moment he heard this.

"Yes. They take advantage of poor people just like us. Most of them are also from poor families that can't make a living. Then, they form groups to bully weaker people and collect so-called protection fees," Grey answered in a gloomy tone.

"Well, doesn't anyone try to subdue and punish them for their crimes?" Rocky asked as he crossed his arms on his chest, letting out a frown.

"No. Those bandits usually don't stay long in one place. They just charge protection fees and then eventually leave. Most of them are rather vicious, so even the city guards that are in charge of the security in the Ghost Capital don't try to interfere with their business. Well, what can you expect? We are just poor people, so no one really cares about our lives. In fact, a few groups of bandits have already come to our slum before..." Grey recounted in a depressed voice.

"So, this time, they must have heard that the Godly Genius has built these houses for you. That's why they intend to occupy them." Knowing the attitude of these kinds of people, Rocky could already guess what they were up to.

"Yes, I think so too. Right now, the people from our slum are confronting those bandits at the intersection. However, there are only very few strong people among us. Unlike them, they even have some spirit warriors that could easily trample over us," Grey uttered through gritted teeth.

"I see. Come on, and lead me to them!" Knowing the situation, Rocky would not stand by and just do nothing about it. So, he immediately rushed to the area together with Grey.

As they arrived at the intersection, he saw some people from the slum confronting a group of fierce bandits who held sticks, knives, and even forks. On the other hand, most of the people from the slum were just old men and women, and no one was really strong enough to resist the bandits. If they continued fighting these savage men, they might end up being seriously injured or killed.

At the same time, the bandits seemed to be growing impatient. A bald man standing in front of them suddenly shouted, "If you don't want to die, get out of our way! Otherwise, I will have no choice but to kill each of you!"

Although the people from the slum were generally weak, they were so determined not to let the bandits occupy the houses that were built for them.

Therefore, even if they were threatened, they had no intention of giving in.

"You guys are really asking for it! Don't blame me for what will happen next!" The bald man fumed in anger and ordered his men to break in. Immediately after, the bandits behind the bald man swarmed and rushed towards the people from the slum.

At the same time, Rocky was a bit surprised to see that even if the people from the slum were being suppressed, they were still aggressive and their morale remained high. Hence, he immediately rushed over and said, "Everyone, go ahead and fight with all your might. I will do my best to protect you!" Right after saying this, he took advantage of the people's morale and activated the Army-blessing Scroll to protect and empower them using the spiritual power.

The moment the people realized that Rocky was with them, their confidence grew higher.

In an instant, a fierce fight broke out between the two sides.

Soon enough, the bandits recognized that the seemingly weak and disabled people from before had somehow become skilled in fighting and it was as if they had become invulnerable. No matter how hard they pushed through, they were unable to hurt and disperse these people.

In less than half an hour, the bandits, who were supposed to be more powerful, were forced to retreat in an embarrassing fashion.

At the same time, the people from the slum were also confused. They did not understand how they became powerful enough to defeat the bandits.

Seeing this, the bald man, who was the leader of the bandits, finally snapped. He did not expect the people from the slum to be so formidable. Hence, he decided to take things into his own hands. All of a sudden, he emitted an aura that was comparable to that of a Spiritual King. He seemed to be even more powerful than Brett.

"Topple the mountains and overturn the seas!" The bald man took a deep breath and suddenly released a wave of spiritual power. It surged out like a raging wave that instantly surged towards the people from the slum.

Realizing that the bald man wasn't just a weak person, Rocky was worried that the people might be seriously injured. Thus, he quickly urged them to retreat in order to avoid the attack of the bald man. Unfortunately, some of them were not fast enough, so they were wounded in the process.

When they saw that the people from the slum were already repelled, the bandits swarmed up again and rushed to the newly built houses.

Of course, Rocky would not let them succeed in their evil plans. Thus, he immediately opened the Magic Spiritual Space and summoned Uriah.

Currently, Uriah had the combat power of an ordinary spirit warrior at the Spirit Realm. Therefore, under Rocky's guidance, it quickly rushed towards the bandits to suppress and kill them.

Seeing the ferocious spiritual beast, the bandits were shaken to their core. After all, most of them were just ordinary people. Although a few of them had some spiritual power, they were not powerful enough to become real spirit warriors. Therefore, before Uriah, they were effortlessly slaughtered.

Realizing that they would not be able to defeat the spiritual beast, the bandits fled in all directions.

It was not until then that the bald man actually noticed that Rocky had summoned Uriah. As his expression became more savage, he glared at Rocky and wondered who he was, and why he could summon a spiritual beast. Logically speaking, a person of his caliber should not be wandering in the slum.

However, the bald man also noticed that Uriah was not as strong as a Spiritual King. Hence, it should not be a threat to him at all. Therefore, he planned to kill the spiritual beast first before taking on Rocky. Unfortunately for him, his thoughts were already within Rocky's expectation. Hence, before he could even make a move, Rocky suddenly appeared in front of him. In fact, the only reason why Rocky summoned Uriah was that he wanted it to deal with the bandits and protect the people from the slum. At the same time, he would be able to focus on dealing with the bald man himself.

Judging from the spiritual power that the bald man unleashed earlier, Rocky could not simply underestimate him. Although he knew that the bald man was not as strong as him, he found it strange that this man was just a mere bandit. Therefore, he speculated that these bandits were not ordinary ones, and there might be a force that was backing them up. Otherwise, it would be impossible for them to do whatever they wanted in a city like the Ghost Capital.

Although Rocky did not know the entire truth, he would not let the people of the slum get hurt.
