The Medallion -
Chapter 1730 Gilbert's Refuse
As for Adrian and Gloria, although they had been mentally prepared for this to happen, they still could not help but be disappointed with the result. However, they still both went forward and extended their congratulations to Rocky.
The moment Elder Leticia saw Adrian, her expression instantly became sour. Although she knew that he was a domineering leader, she did not fear him at all.
Knowing that Elder Leticia was staring at him coldly, Adrian behaved more overbearing as if he was superior to others.
On the surface, there wasn't really a dispute between the Flower Fief and the Genie Fief. However, after the recent events, especially involving the engagement of the three Godly Geniuses, the tension between them was secretly growing stronger.
At the sight of the unfriendly expressions of Adrian and Elder Leticia, Gilbert let out a frown. He was hoping that Rocky had already persuaded Adrian to agree with his plan. Otherwise, if the situation turned for the worst, and the Flower Fief and the Genie Fief genuinely declared war on each other, the Ghost Fief would be in big trouble.
"As for which Godly Genius successfully subdued the Nether Dragon King, I know that all of you already know who he is. Later on, I will summon him to bestow his reward," the spiritual soul remarked. "Additionally, in this mission, the Godly Geniuses of the Primitive Fief, Purgatory Fief, Elite Fief, Flower Fief, and Genie Fief had also performed very well. Therefore, I shall also give them corresponding rewards to motivate them for the upcoming missions!"
Upon hearing this, the leaders of the five other fiefs had somewhat felt relieved. However, as for the remaining fiefs that did not participate in the given task, they were filled with even more remorse. Moreover, even if they regretted this outcome, there was nothing that they could do.
Then, not long after, the shadow of the spiritual soul appeared in the square of Gilbert's mansion and instantly turned into a golden door.
Since Rocky knew that the door was actually for him, he immediately walked towards it in front of everyone.
As he entered it, he vanished with the door itself.
Then, when Rocky opened his eyes again, he found himself in the picturesque valley once more.
"It's an honor to meet you again," Rocky immediately greeted as he made a firm salute.
"You were able to make the Nether Dragon King yield, but you did not take it back with you? Why?" the goddess asked as her sweet voice echoed in the valley.
"Well, heaven cares for every living thing. Besides, it has been cultivating all year round in seclusion without harming anyone in the world. Hence, I don't think it's necessary to forcibly subdue it and take it out of its lair," Rocky explained with all honesty.
"But if you can directly command it, it will be very beneficial for you in the future."
"Of course, I know that. But I like to stick to my principles, and that is what I decided," Rocky firmly said.
"Oh well, I don't really have any complaint if that is your choice.
Anyway, I have another question for you. After you entered the lair of the Nether Dragon King, your pillar of divine power stopped functioning for a while. Have you been to other places?" the goddess asked ou of nowhere.
Hearing what the goddess said, Rocky was suddenly taken aback. He thought of the possibility that the goddess did not actually know that he entered the holy land of the Shura Race's royal family.
"It must be because I fell into an abyss and lost consciousness. Fortunately, I was still able to survive," Rocky said as he immediately thought of a lie. After all, the secret that he saw in the holy land of the Shura Race's royal family was by no means trivial. Moreover, it was related to the gods. Hence, he thought that if the goddess knew that he learned these secrets, he might suffer some dire consequences. "Oh, really? Then, why did your pillar of divine power suddenly increase after some time? Can you explain that?" the goddess inquired with an insinuating tone.
"Ha-ha! It seems that I really can't hide anything from you. The truth is that I was able to experience some adventures after I fell into the abyss. That was the reason why my strength and divine powers advanced by multiple times." Since Rocky knew that he couldn't easily fool the goddess, he tried telling the truth by making his answers ambiguous.
"Did you know that the Nether Fire Land used to be the holy land of the Shura Race's royal family? It seems that you accidentally entered a place that should have been off-limits to outsiders. That is why you were able to experience those adventures," the goddess recounted as she continued to sound Rocky out.
"Hmm. I am actually not that sure. If you don't believe me, you can search my memory so that you can see it for yourself," Rocky replied as he took a gamble. If the goddess really did it, she would definitely replace clues from his memory.
"Forget it. It doesn't matter anyway." Fortunately, the goddess changed her mind. Then she added, "Here. This is your reward for your performance on the last mission. See it for yourself."
In an instant, a human-sized pot appeared in front of Rocky.
"This is called the Treasure Refining Tripod. With this, you can refine and remodel all kinds of spiritual treasures or divine treasures. Then, you can also improve them," the goddess said as she gave a brief introduction.
"That sounds good." Rocky nodded repeatedly as he deemed that the reward was interesting.
"Also, remember that the Treasure Refining Tripod's strength will also increase along with your strength. Thus, later on, the treasures that you can refine will also be enhanced," the goddess added. "I see. Thank you very much!"
"Don't get too excited yet. This is just the beginning. You and the other Godly Geniuses will surely face a more difficult trial soon enough," the goddess reminded sternly.
"Well, I am excited about it. I wonder what kind of task will be the next one," Rocky uttered with a faint smile.
"You don't have to be impatient. I will announce it later."
"All right then. If that is all, I'll head out first," Rocky said as he bowed to the goddess.
"By the way, you should properly deal with the Godly Geniuses of the Flower Fief and the Genie Fief. Otherwise, it will be unfair to the other Godly Geniuses," the goddess suddenly said before Rocky could go
out.
"Deal with them properly? What exactly do you mean?" Rocky let out a forced smile as he tried to feign ignorance.
"Well, I guess you must have come up with a solution already."
"It seems that you really know everything, huh?"
"You have to know that I'm watching your every move. So, don't do any petty tricks or anything stupid. After all, it might backfire on you," the goddess warned.
At the same time, Rocky could just smile in response. Then, after putting away the Treasure Refining Tripod into his Magic Spiritual Space, he left as the golden light brought him back into the square.
As he returned, the crowd in the square had almost disappeared, Only Gilbert, several elders, Elder Leticia, Valeria, Adrian, and Gloria were the ones left waiting for him.
"Hey! What did the gods give you as a reward?" Gloria was the first to ask him as soon as Rocky came out.
"Oh, the reward? It's a secret!" Rocky replied with a smile to tease her.
"Humph! You're being stingy again!" Gloria snorted with disdain.
"Leader Gilbert, we are taking our leave now. However, I expect you to give us clarity regarding the engagement covenant soon enough." Elder Leticia deliberately said it in front of Adrian and Gloria so that they could hear it. Then, she and Valeria left afterward.
When Elder Leticia and Valeria had finally disappeared, Gilbert approached Adrian and said in a serious tone, "You should have seen how the Flower Fief thinks about you and the Genie Fief. I'm afraid that I can't agree to the marriage between Odin and Gloria at this point."
"So, in the end, you are really going to refuse us, huh?" Adrian answered as anger showed on his face.
"I'm afraid that it's the only option I have right now. After all, the Flower Fief had proposed an alliance with us first. And as for the engagement covenant, everyone knows that Gloria just signed her name on it without getting any permission. The Ghost Fief cannot be blamed for this because we did nothing wrong," Gilbert said as he firmly emphasized his stand.
"I see. Then, you really want to be my enemy..." Adrian uttered threateningly as his face eventually darkened.
"Come on. Being your enemy is the last thing that I want to happen. In fact, I hope that our two fiefs could still achieve peace," Gilbert responded as he tried to calm Adrian down.
"Well, I'm afraid that's impossible now. Now that you refused my proposal, we can only view you and your fief as our enemies," Adrian retorted. He was a tough and stubborn man to deal with, and it really showed here.000000
