The Medallion -
Chapter 1774 Taking Separate Paths
"I guess we have no other choice but to use those floating chunks of ice," Rocky said after careful considerations.
As the women glanced at each other, they also nodded and agreed.
However, just as they were about to cross the sea and go towards the island to the southeast, several figures suddenly appeared. It seemed that they were also teleported to the same area where Rocky and the girls were.
Moreover, when they took a closer look at the newcomers, they saw familiar faces which included Michelle, Holden, and Hall Leader Chen. Aside from them, there were also two other medium-grade Spiritual Emperors. It seemed that they had formed an alliance in order to make the fourth round easier for them.
"Oh, it's you guys." Michelle and the other newcomers were obviously surprised to see Rocky's group there.
"I know. What a small world!" Eunice remarked sarcastically. She was still very hostile towards Michelle because of their squabble before.
Knowing how sarcastic Eunice's words were, Michelle could not help but roll her eyes at her. Then, she turned to Rocky and asked, "So, where do you plan on going from here?"
"Huh? Why do you need to know? It has nothing to do with you!" Eunice butted in even before Rocky could reply.
Trying her best to keep her composure, Michelle said and insisted, "The trials in the Spiritual Divine Land are very dangerous. Since we were all teleported to the same starting point, why don't we join hands for now? After we pass these trials, we can compete with each other later on."
"No thanks. We can handle things on our own!" Eunice retorted coldly, completely shooting down the idea of cooperating with Michelle and her team.
However, while they were still conversing, they suddenly heard a scream from afar. When they turned in the direction where the scream came from, they saw that the sea was rampaging and the waves were surging violently.
It turned out that one of the medium-grade Spiritual Emperors, who also came with Michelle, had already set out to the sea. Since he had grown impatient, he confidently attempted to cross the sea on his own. As a result, he was instantly swallowed by the vicious waves. As he sank into the sea, no one heard from him anymore. It was as if he had been devoured by some monster beneath the waters. It was pretty obvious that no one could underestimate the danger contained within the sea.
At this point, apart from Rocky, everyone present actually looked terrified. They were obviously taken aback by the sudden turn of events.
"What happened? Is he dead?" Holden broke the silence and asked with a concerned tone.
"I don't think so. If I'm not mistaken, he will just be teleported to a different starting point," Eunice explained with a soft voice.
Not long after, more and more low-grade and medium-grade Spiritual Emperors appeared one after another to this starting point.
"Hey, Holden. Why don't you try using your Mystical Pace? Isn't that a secret skill of the Sovereign Pavilion? Maybe you can use that to swiftly cross the sea," Michelle suddenly suggested. Since she saw that more and more people were appearing, Michelle became worried that they might lose the advantage and be overtaken by others. Hence, she decided to persuade Holden to try going first.
After seeing what just happened to the medium-grade Spiritual Emperor, of course, Holden hesitated for a moment. However, since he did not want to lose face in front of Michelle, he eventually made up his mind and stepped on the patch of thin ice that was floating on the surface of the sea.
Then, when the violent waves started gushing towards him, he immediately employed his swift bodily movement skill to avoid being hit by them. When he successfully evaded them, the people from the shore gasped in amazement.
Seeing how Holden was able to make it seem so easy to cross the sea, Michelle also gained some confidence. After all, she also possessed a rare bodily movement skill from the Flying Feather Pavilion that was no less powerful than the Mystical Pace.
"We also have to keep moving. Can you handle it?" Rocky asked his companions with a serious face.
Heaving a deep breath, the girls nodded in unison. They also thought that if Holden was able to do it, there was no reason for them to be afraid.
"All right, follow me!" Without any hesitation, Rocky charged ahead and landed steadily on the nearest chunk of ice. Soon enough, he leaped across the sea and was able to catch up with Holden.
At the same time, when Michelle, Hall Leader Chen, and the other Spiritual Emperors saw Rocky's magnificent movements, they were utterly surprised. Holden's speed was actually fast enough to be on par with the medium-grade Spiritual Emperors. However, they did not expect that Rocky was even much faster than Holden. He had just started making his move, but he had already caught up with Holden. From where they were standing, it seemed that the surging waves did not have any impact on Rocky's movements at all.
"What kind of bodily movement skill is that? It looks so ordinary but it's ridiculously fast!" Michelle muttered as her eyes widened.
At the same time, Carla also began to rush out, trying to keep up with Rocky.
"Hey! Wait for me!" Not wanting to be left behind, Eunice also began to cross the sea at an astonishing speed. It seemed that she also possessed a kind of incredible bodily movement skill from the Di Clan. Lastly, Valeria, who had been keeping a low profile, also followed suit.
Witnessing how Rocky's teammates were able to easily bridge their gap with Holden, Michelle was dumbfounded. She realized that Rocky's group would probably be the biggest threat to her in this round. However, in order to successfully pass this trial, she had to avoid getting into trouble with them in the meantime.
Therefore, she had no choice but to chase after them silently.
At the same time, the two other medium-grade Spiritual Emperors, who had allied with Michelle, also used their respective bodily movement skills to catch up.
Soon enough, Rocky was able to completely surpass Holden. After this, he deliberately controlled his pace so that Holden would think that he could still overtake him.
On the other hand, Holden indeed felt very irritated that Rocky was able to move past him. Thus, he went all out in an attempt to gain the lead again. However, no matter how hard he tried, he was not able to catch up with Rocky.
In fact, not long after, Carla also surpassed Holden, making him even more infuriated.
"Sorry, Holden! We'll go on ahead!" It was actually Eunice's voice that came from behind him. She eventually surpassed him too while making a mocking face.
Shortly after, Valeria also appeared beside Holden and overtook him without really saying anything.
Now that everyone in Rocky's team was able to get past Holden, every Spiritual Emperor, who saw this scene, was extremely shocked and at a loss for words.
Of course, Holden felt greatly ashamed of himself and he actually trembled in anger. Then, his breathing became a bit disoriented when he was suddenly hit by a huge surge of waves, which almost swept him into the sea. Fortunately, Michelle was already just behind him. So, she was able to support him with her spiritual power, immediately saving him from imminent danger.
"Don't lose focus. You have to be careful at all times," Michelle reminded sternly.
"I know. Thank you for saving me." Holden was still gasping his breath. He kind of panicked that he would really be swept into the sea and be teleported to another starting point.
"I understand how you feel, but you can't go against them right now. The right time to act will come," Michelle gently assured him.
"You're right. I'll be sure to be ready at that time..." Holden eventually regained his composure while his eyes turned rather cold, staring at the backs of Rocky's team.
After that, Michelle and Holden moved again and silently followed Rocky's group from behind.
About an hour later, they were finally able to overcome the ferocious waves and arrive at the large island.
Upon stepping on dry land again, they saw a jungle in front of them with so many different paths to get in. It seemed to lead in different directions, and it looked like they extended so deeply. "So, which path should we take?" Eunice turned to Rocky and asked him.
"Hmm. You three should take the same one. Then, I'll go by myself. There's a huge possibility that it might be a maze of some sort. So, I don't want us wasting too much time," Rocky said decisively. After all, it was also what they had previously planned.
He believed that the three girls were strong enough to fend for themselves if ever they encountered some pressing situations. Hence, he did not need to stay with them.
"Why do you need to go alone? We can just go in pairs instead," Carla quickly suggested.
"No. That's not a good idea. You know that many people are targeting me. If any of you stayed with me, you might get involved. After all, if they wanted to make a move against me, this will be a good time to do it. Therefore, it's better if I go on my own," Rocky directly refused and explained his side.
"Yeah, don't worry about this guy. He'll be fine!" Eunice chimed in to convince Carla. She knew that Rocky would not change his mind, so she might as well persuade Carla faster so that they could move on. "Okay..." Although Carla still felt a little reluctant, she eventually agreed.
"All right. Be careful on your way ahead. I'll see you guys later." Afterward, Rocky hurriedly selected a path and went into the depths of the jungle.
At the same time, the three girls did the same and started carefully exploring the area.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
