The Medallion
Chapter 1832 Two Days Later

About two days later, Rocky finally arrived at the front line battlefield, where the supreme headquarters of the human race's army behind the defense line was situated.

The commander in chief, who was leading the human army in the front line, was actually the deputy commander in chief who worked under Colton before-Devin. To be able to take this responsibility, he was also one of the most important figures who existed in the Ethereal Region.

Before Rocky came, Devin already got a message from Colton informing him about the young man's visit. Thus, upon his arrival, Rocky immediately went to see Devin.

"You must be Basil." Devin had never seen Rocky before, so he was extremely surprised to see that he was indeed very young. For someone who had already attained so many great achievements, this was completely out of Devin's expectations.

"Yes, that's right. It is a pleasure to meet you."

"Oh, please. It is my pleasure to meet you! I actually could not believe it when Chief Colton sent me a message saying that you are coming here. This is my first time seeing the legendary figure in person." Devin already heard Colton mentioning Rocky a long time ago. He had heard all of Rocky's contributions to lead the human race in victory over the spiritual race.

"Ha-ha. It is already a thing in the past. It's not really worth bragging over and over. Anyway, I believe Chief Colton already told you the reason for my sudden visit," Rocky said and went straight to the point. "Yes. About that... Isn't it going to be too hard for us to suddenly give up our current defense line?" After receiving the message from Colton, Devin found himself in a dilemma. Normally, giving up a defense line was taboo in the art of war. It was like giving the enemy the chance to take advantage of the situation.

"I know. But right now, it is our only option. Because of the flaw in our defense line, the troops here at the front line will be put in grave danger if we don't retreat. In fact, even the supreme headquarters may not survive their attack," Rocky answered with a serious expression.

"A flaw? What are you talking about?" While Devin was still at a loss from Rocky's remarks, a commander suddenly came in as if something very urgent happened. "Sir! A large number of enemies were found on the southwest side of the line and are coming straight towards the headquarters. We did not spot them until they are already this near to us!"

"What? How did that happen?" Devin's face turned ghastly pale, not expecting that something like this would suddenly happen.

"It seems that I was a little too late. They already made their move to attack the headquarters directly." On the other hand, Rocky was not surprised at all. In fact, according to his prediction, the army of the Shura Race would really appear at any time. It turned out that they also found the loophole in the human army's defense line that Rocky saw before. Now, they took advantage of it and secretly sent their troops to attack the headquarters.

"Gather all of our soldiers and prepare to fight back!" Devin ordered decisively, not wanting to let the army of the Shura Race get any closer.

"Wait a minute! That is exactly what they want us to do," Rocky said, stopping Devin from his plan.

"Then, how do we deal with them?" Devin asked. Based on what Rocky said, Devin assumed that he had a plan to counter the incoming forces of the enemy.

"Give the order to retreat from this place. Do it as soon as possible," Rocky answered with a straight face.

"Order them to retreat?" Devin was taken aback to hear this from Rocky. Instead of coming up with a solution to defeat the enemy, he actually wanted them to flee.

"I already told you. If we don't give up the defense line and retreat as soon as possible, the losses we will incur will be unimaginable," Rocky sternly reiterated.

Hearing this, Devin could not help but frown. If it was someone else who told him this, he might refuse to obey. But since Rocky was someone that even Colton trusted with all his heart, he naturally believed in the young man.

"Issue the order to retreat! Make sure that all soldiers leave the base camp!" Devin eventually gave the order.

Not long after, under Devin's leadership, thirty thousand soldiers fled from the headquarters before the army of the Shura Race caught up to them.

Soon enough, an elite army of the Shura Race with thirty thousand soldiers suddenly appeared in the base camp and launched a surprise attack.

It did not take long before the entire camp was set ablaze and torched to the ground.

At this moment, Devin, who had already escaped to safety, saw how the army of the Shura Race easily turned the camp into ashes. He could not help but feel so relieved that he listened to Rocky's instructions.

"Commander Basil, how did you know that the army of the Shura Race would suddenly launch a surprise attack at the headquarters?" Devin finally got to ask. He still did not understand how the army of the Shura Race got past their detection.

"While I was studying the deployment of the defense line, I saw some loopholes in it. The Shura Race must have seen through it so they immediately acted. I already fought them before, so somehow, I know how they think. They always tend to do things straightforwardly. If they have the strength to accomplish something, they will not hesitate to attack with all their might. That is how they win their battles. If we were not able to get away quickly, the human army would have suffered terrible losses," Rocky explained.

"Where are we going to retreat now?" They might have gotten away from the army of the Shura Race just now, but Devin was still at a loss as to what to do next.

"We'll head for Bing City right away. We can set up our base there since the terrain of the city is more suitable for it. Also, I want you to ask the soldiers from other defense lines to retreat to the surrounding areas of Bing City. We have to rearrange our formation and make the city the center," Rocky ordered implicitly.

"How is the terrain of Bing City more suitable to set up a defense line? I think this is too risky," Devin said with furrowed brows. He was hesitant since he could not grasp what exactly Rocky was thinking.

"If even the human army could not easily set up our defense line in a terrain that we are familiar with, then it will be even more difficult for the Shura Race to break through to our defenses," Rocky elaborated, dumbing it down for Devin.

"I see! That is indeed worth a try." Finally, Devin understood what Rocky was implying.

"When our defense line is rearranged, please try your best to contain the spearhead army of the Shura Race. I will give them a big surprise at the perfect opportunity," Rocky instructed further.

As soon as Rocky left, Devin could not help but feel ashamed. After all, he was nothing compared to the brilliance of the young man even though he had already gone through countless battles. Meanwhile, Rocky hurriedly went to Moon City to meet up with the independent army.

Upon arriving, he first met with Commander Wang, who used to be his superior back then.

"Basil! Finally, I was able to see you again!" It had been such a long time since they last met, so Commander Wang was actually very elated.

"Yes. It has been a while. Glad to see that you are doing fine, Commander Wang," Rocky greeted and cupped his hands.

"No one here has ever forgotten what you did before. I am sure that they will also be happy to see you again." Back then, Rocky was just his subordinate. But now, the young man was already a prominent figure in the Ethereal Region. In fact, he was also highly valued both by Colton and the rest of the Di Clan.

"My independent army should have joined you already, right?" Rocky asked, diverting the topic.

"Oh yes, I have already met them earlier." Right now, Commander Wang was in charge of the recruited army.

"I see. Then, please lead your army and retreat from Moon City," Rocky said out of nowhere.

"Why? I thought we are going to engage the army of the Shura Race here together?" Commander Wang asked, looking at Rocky with a confused expression.

"Yes. But the one who will confront the spearhead army of the Shura Race is my army. I will lure the enemy to give the independent army a nice warm-up." Rocky voiced out his thoughts without any hesitation. Hearing this, Commander Wang was actually rendered speechless. There were really times that he could not figure out how Rocky's mind worked.

However, since he fully knew Rocky's ability, he could just trust his judgment. Hence, he immediately ordered his army to retreat from Moon City, and they camped in a small town not far away from the city. When Commander Wang's army had safely left the city, Rocky immediately deployed three thousand soldiers of his independent army to defend the city. At the same time, he handpicked five thousand soldiers from them to carry out the special training regarding the mysterious military arrays.

About three days later, everything was finally ready.

Meanwhile, Devin, who had also evacuated to Bing City because of the raid at the front line, also instructed the other troops to withdraw into the surrounding areas of the city under Rocky's order.

Because of the tricky terrain of Bing City, it was difficult to both defend and attack it. Hence, the spearhead army of the Shura Race couldn't just march into the city without encountering any hindrance. In order to be on the safe side, they could only advance little by little.
