Faye stared at Logan in surprise, "Did you already grab something to eat?"

"Yeah, got off work a tad earlier than you? I was feeling a bit peckish, and this one's still warm, untouched. Thought you might appreciate skipping cooking tonight, what do you say?" Without waiting for an answer, Logan placed the takeout bag in Faye's hands, "You've been burning the candle at both ends without proper meals, Faye. You don't want to start having health issues at your age, do you?" Barry grumbled under his breath, "Playing the saint, while I'm here breaking my back bringing food, only to end up playing Cupid for these two!"

Faye found no reason to refuse, especially considering the hassle of cooking and cleaning up after a long shift at the hospital.

"Well then, I owe you one, Logan!" Faye said, accepting the bag as they entered the building together.

Though the hospital was quieter at this hour, they still bumped into a few colleagues on their way.

The chatting nurses fell silent at the sight of Faye and Logan, exchanging knowing looks.

Faye greeted them naturally, "Just off your shift too?"

"Yeah, Faye, are you and Logan...?" The unspoken question hung in the air, fueled by their curious glances.

Feeling the awkwardness, Logan quickly explained, "Ran into her on the way here. It's late, and it's not safe for a lady to walk alone. Better to stick together after dark."

As they boarded the elevator, Logan's words seemed to ease the tension, making the earlier assumption appear to be an overreach. After all, they were just old schoolmates, reminding everyone to keep their imaginations in check. Exiting the elevator, Logan followed Faye out, leaving their colleagues in a buzz of speculation.

"Wait, why is Logan getting off here? Doesn't he live in the other building?" The mystery deepened, but speculation was cut short as the elevator doors closed.

Before entering her apartment, Faye heard Logan's parting advice, "It's getting chillier, make sure to keep warm and have a good rest."

Perhaps it was the late hour, or

Logan's gentle concern, but Faye felt a moment of surreal warmth. She opened the takeout box at her dining table, replaceing the food still warm, and ate more than usual, comforted by the gesture.

Back at his place, Logan cooked himself a simple bowl of noodles. Faye's message of thanks, accompanied by a photo of the half-eaten meal, brought a smile to his face. It was a simple exchange, but to Logan, it felt like a piece of happiness.

Logan woke up refreshed the next morning, ready for the day. By chance, he and Faye ran into each other again, their surprise turning into a pleasant morning greeting. Unlike the hurried doctors around them, they walked to the hospital at a relaxed pace, enjoying the morning air.

Logan excused himself to pick up

something, urging Faye to go ahead if she was in a hurry. Yet, when he returned, he found her waiting, a playfut accusation about his habit of skipping breakfast hanging in the air.

Faye handed him a box of homemade pancakes, a thoughtful gesture that left Logan speechless with gratitude.

At the hospital, Logan savored the pancakes, a reminder of Faye's care. Caught up in the moment, he realized he hadn't thanked her yet, pondering if it was too late for a message as he finished the last bite.

"Ah, screw it!" Logan decided on a whim and snapped a photo to send to Faye.

Faye had just finished her grab-and-go breakfast when she saw the message from Logan pop up. She couldn't help but burst into laughter.

The photo Logan sent was an

attempt to mimic what she had done the day before. Most of the picture was dominated by a near empty lunchbox, but you could catch a glimpse of Logan looking

background.

At first, Faye couldn't figure out what his expression was all about, not until she read the message Logan sent along with the photo.

"Got so caught up in eating, I totally forgot to report back. I finished off what was left in the photo, and man, it was delicious. You've got some serious skills in the kitchen!"

After pondering for a bit and probably feeling his initial message was too stiff, Logan rummaged through his phone and sent another message her way.
