The Million-Dollar Heart (Percival and Vivienne) -
Chapter 1182
"Sweetheart, why don't you just chill at home for a few days, or how about we hit the road for a little getaway? Let's not keep all that stress bottled up, okay?" Doreen gently urged Faye.
It had taken quite a bit for Faye to bounce back from the recent turmoil, and Doreen was adamant not to let those shadows loom over her daughter again.
Distracting Faye seemed the only viable option to lighten her spirits.
"Got it, Mom." Faye understood Doreen's concerns and flashed her a reassuring smile.
"Alright then, I'll book the tickets. We haven't really done anything fun together since you were in grade school," Doreen said, her spirits lifted. She began browsing through travel deals on her phone, planning a few days away for the two of them. Faye agreed, thinking a short trip might help her sort through her thoughts.
As Faye started her break, Logan stepped up, taking over her workload during her absence.
The hospital staff marveled at Logan's capability to juggle his responsibilities along with Faye's, admiring his versatility.
The interns originally under Faye's guidance felt a mix of guilt and apprehension as they transitioned to Logan's supervision, especially considering the mishap that had occurred under their watch, which had sparked the whole situation. Sensing their hesitancy, Logan looked up and said, "What's with the long faces? Missing Faye so much that you've lost your drive? If you're not up for work, hit the books. Don't bring down the mood in my office."
His tone was measured, hiding the concern behind a stern facade. One bold intern stepped forward, apologizing loudly, "Logan, we're really sorry!"
Logan, taken aback, took a moment before addressing the group.
"What's this all about?"
"We feel responsible for the incident that occurred. It wouldn't have happened if not for our negligence, and we're truly sorry for the trouble we caused," said the intern, her voice shrinking with each word. Trying not to laugh at her dramatics, Logan asked, "And how do you propose to make amends?"
The intern was at a loss for words until another, Gemma, came forward, admitting it was her fault for distracting the others, insisting she alone should bear the blame. "Gemma?" Logan said, reading her name tag.
Gemma nodded, ready to face any consequences, believing owning up to her mistake was the right thing to do.
Logan's response surprised them all.
Instead of reprimanding, he simply assigned them tasks and urged them not to interfere with his work, showing a level of understanding and forgiveness they hadn't
anticipated.
The interns, relieved and grateful, began to show their appreciation by taking turns bringing Logan meals, either homemade or ordered, as they discovered his tendency to skip lunch. Even Barry, staying late, ensured Logan had a warm meal waiting for him, a gesture that gradually became part of their routine.
One evening, under a full moon, Logan found himself reaching out to Faye, curious about how she was faring on her trip. Faye, caught off guard by the call, quickly warmed up to the conversation, sharing snippets of her day out with her mom. As they spoke, both glanced at the moon, a silent shared moment between them.
The talk eventually shifted to a court session Logan was involved with, Faye expressing her gratitude for his support.
Logan brushed off her thanks, mentioning Doreen's promise of a meal as a token of gratitude, trying to ease any tension.
Their conversation, filled with
mutual concern and understanding, ended with Doreen calling Faye back, a gentle reminder of the time spent and friendships deepened,

Faye sprinted towards Doreen, her cheeks flushed and her smile beaming. It was clear to Doreen, from that joyous expression alone, that Faye had just been on the
phone with someone special ser
Teasingly, Doreen chuckled and nudged Faye, "Who were you chatting with, eh? You look like you've got spring fever. Now I'm all curious."
"Mom!" Faye's face turned an even deeper shade of red, "It was just a call with a coworker, he was filling me in on some recent updates, that's all."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk." Doreen shook her head, her eyes twinkling with disbelief at Faye's explanation, "Imagine how Logan would feel if he knew you're calling him 'just a coworker'. Poor guy." The moment Doreen pinpointed Logan's name, Faye's blush deepened, "It's not like that at all!"
"I didn't say anything though, did I? Why such a big reaction?" Doreen teased, playfully pestering Faye as they continued their conversation.
