The Million-Dollar Heart (Percival and Vivienne) -
Chapter 907
Arthur's eyes blazed with intensity, making her shiver. "The chair is made of oak, you're wearing flats, and yet you claim you're unsteady?"
Alyssa's face flushed with embarrassment and then went pale. She stuttered, "Arthur, this is too harsh. What about the bond between the Wrights and the Linklaters?" Arthur's words were cold and direct, cutting deep. "There's no bond between us. You're trying to pin blame on my wife out of thin air. I won't forgive that!"
Alyssa stood frozen like a shattered porcelain doll, her gaze filled with venom as she stared at Sasha.
Sasha, throughout this ordeal, hadn't said a word. Her elegance was unmarred, dressed in simple yet flawless attire.
She didn't need to speak or act; Arthur's support was her vindication.
Alyssa was seething with hatred.
Sasha's brows furrowed slightly as she checked on Winston, adjusting his IV with concern. When she finally addressed Alyssa, her voice was cold, "If not for the fact you're Winston's sister, I'd have no qualms about ending you."
Her ruthless tone sent shivers down Alyssa and her attendants' spines.
"Were you so desperate to grasp at the lifeline Winston offered? Do you realize your actions could have drowned him, putting him in greater peril than you faced?"
Sasha's piercing gaze was a challenge.
Alyssa, guilt-ridden, fumbled with her words, "In that moment, survival was all I could think of. I didn't mean to drag him down with me!"
"If you had any sense, you would have waited for me to rescue you, rather than endangering Winston. His current state is on you," Sasha retorted, her authority leaving Alyssa speechless.
Winston's attendants admired Sasha, recognizing Alyssa's schemes. They knew the truth would reach the Wright family patriarch once Winston awoke.
When Winston's eyes fluttered open to the twilight, the first thing he saw was Sasha's caring face. His small hand reached for hers, and after a thorough check ensuring he was fine, Sasha finally relaxed. Sasha tenderly brushed his forehead, then pinched his cheek softly.
Alyssa rushed forward, tears streaming, "Winston, you scared me to death. Promise never to do something so reckless again!"
The insincerity in her act was palpable, but young Winston, innocent and pure-hearted, comforted her, "Sis, I'm okay. Don't be scared."
Arthur had the Linklater family butler bring in Winston's favorite flower, a bi-colored lotus, now closed into a bud. Despite the butler's reluctance to bypass Yorick, Arthur had insisted.
Winston's delight at the sight of the lotus was genuine, a stark contrast to Alyssa's resentment.
Sasha and Arthur shared a smile, promising to bring Winston to their wedding, setting aside the drama.
The next day, Arthur, frustrated by the online uproar over their wedding plans, declared a bold move. "Let the internet buzz. We'll live stream our wedding to the world!"
Their defiance was clear, turning their wedding into a spectacle for the world to see, proving their love could withstand any storm.
Vivienne, roused by the commotion, groggily supported the decision, her morning irritation forgotten in the face of their resolve.
Arthur's face softened as he saw his
darling daughter Vivienne awaken. Looping his arm around her shoulder, he asked with a warm tone, "Sweetheart, what would you like to eat? I'll cook it myself for you and your mom."
Vivienne, with a languid glance that lacked her usual frostiness, felt her defenses against Arthur slowly melting away after spending so many days with the Linklater family. She gently removed his arm and opened Twitter to check the latest buzz.
Twitter was abuzz more than ever. The top trending topic was, "Boycott War God Sasha's Wedding!"
Following that, the second and third spots were taken by "War God Sasha is Getting Married Tomorrow!" and "Sasha Accused of Persecuting Alyssa's Brother Over Past Grudges!"
The top searches of the past few days were all about her parents, prompting Vivienne to muse about getting on the trending list herself. Why not make it a family affair?
Turning to her mother, she playfully suggested, "Mom, how about we also get married tomorrow, along with Mr. Wolf? Let's get the whole family trending together."
"No way!" Arthur interjected sternly,
his voice cutting through the room. "That Ellington boy hasn't gotten past me yet! And since when do weddings become group events? I only planned on marrying Sasha!"
