The Mysterious Billionaire and His Substitute Bride (Ethan and Janet) -
Chapter 1338 Resurgence Of The Mysterious...
Despite their persistent efforts, the investigation into Jeremy hit a wall.
However, a breakthrough materialized unexpectedly from Suzanne's side.
It was discovered that Star Entertainment utilized a mysterious pill reputed for enhancing physical appearance and sculpting ideal figures. This unique advantage was what set the Internet celebrities under Sta Entertainment apart from their competitors.
Having previously unearthed information about a clandestine pharmacist, Brandon harbored deep suspicion towards such unusual substances. Without delay, he dispatched Sean to hand over a sample of the pill to Frank for immediate analysis.
He speculated that Vivi's fatal accident might be tied to this pill.
"Wait," Brandon massaged his temples, continuing his instructions. "Also notify the police about the Internet celebrities under Star Entertainment who have been using these pills for aesthetic enhancement over an extended period. They should be brought into the investigation."
Sean promptly fulfilled his task, handing over the pills to both Frank and the police.
The police report came in shortly.
The authorities informed Brandon that Vivi's tragic car crash resulted from her prolonged use of a highly dangerous drug, which had severely compromised herbrain function and physical health. When Vivi was behind the wheel, an underlying
condition triggered by the drug erupted, rendering her incapable of reacting in time to prevent the crash. The direct impact against the roadside led to the fatal incident.
Upon hearing this news, Brandon's suspicions solidified.
Yet, he still lacked incontrovertible evidence.
"Did we receive the drug analysis report from Frank?" Brandon sipped his coffee, his voice deep and stern. "This drug is most likely implicated in Vivi's death." Sean shook his head, replying, "Dr. Watson mentioned that the drug's composition is complex, so the analysis will take a while."
As Brandon scrutinized the police report, he voiced his concern, "Vivi's demise is likely tied to that elusive pharmacist. Did your investigation unearth any leads?"
Sean, feeling a sense of foreboding, responded, "We haven't stopped tracking the pharmacist, but we're yet to make any significant headway."
A throbbing headache persisted as Brandon wrestled with the question of who this enigmatic pharmacist could be and why all leads about him led to dead ends.
At that moment, Brandon's phone chimed it was Frank calling with the results of the drug test. He stated, "According to our analysis, the drugs Suzanne administered to her employees have substantial side effects."
This revelation fell within Brandon's anticipation, and he asked composedly, "Do the authorities have any record of this medication?"
Frank clarified, "The detrimental effects of this drug are extensive, potentially damaging a user's nervous system and internal organs. It would never get past the authorities' screening, nor be allowed on the market. Therefore, it hasn't been approved and I've heard nothing of it being available commercially."
"Predictable," Brandon responded, his voice laced with a sneer. "Forward the test report directly to the police for further investigation. They should replace it useful."
Frank agreed, but added hesitantly, "It occurs to me that this situation might be linked to the medication you took previously."
Brandon let out a frosty chuckle. "I'm aware," he said. "It's likely tied to the clandestine pharmacist who attempted to harm me."
Concerned, Frank asked, "You haven't found any information about that pharmacist yet? He's operating undercover, while you're out in the open. This could put you at a significant disadvantage." "Don't worry," Brandon replied, his voice cold as ice. "I won't let him wreak havoc for much longer."
Armed with the test report from Frank, the police promptly launched an investigation into Star Entertainment, though they unearthed nothing substantial.
When questioned by the police, Suzanne responded nonchalantly, "Our company, Star Entertainment, is a law-abiding business that profits from Internet celebrities. Why would we harm them?"
The police weren't convinced and pressed, "Your employees all took these drugs, and you're claiming ignorance?"
Suzanne laughed off the question, replying, "Officer, your query is rather peculiar. Although I am the boss, I oversee hundreds of Internet celebrities. Am I supposed to keep tabs on every surgical procedure and medication they take?"
Faced with a lack of solid evidence, the police were compelled to temporarily suspend the investigation.
