The Mysterious Luna -
Chapter 23
Alpha Colton POV
We left Jessica and Sam alone in the room and made our way to the kitchen, to get them some food. I was irritated with Josh, I can already tell, Samantha is like a spitting image of him and they are both, going to be a pain in my a*s.
“You know you’re an a*****e, right?” I spat out, once we were far enough away from Samantha’s room.
“What did I do?” Josh’s replied, with an innocent look on his face, but he knew exactly what I was talking about.
“When you started laughing, at everything that came out of Samantha’s mouth.” I barked out angrily.
“I can’t help that she recognized you, don’t blame me for your actions. I didn’t suck on Jessica’s neck that night.” Josh replied, while shaking his head and chuckling.
“I swear, I don’t know why I ever made you my Beta.” I said, in frustration.
“Because, I’m amazing and you know it. I wish, you would just admit that you like Jessica. I mean, shes drop dead gorgeous and a nice girl, any man would be happy to have her as a mate.” Josh replied and I couldn’t help the possessive growl that left my lips, when he talked about Jessica.
“See, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. You just growled at me, because I said she’s hot.” Josh said, while looking glancing over at me, with an amused smirk on his face.
“Can you just drop it? Seriously, you’re driving me crazy.” I said angrily.
“Ok ok fine, but you know I’m right.” Josh said, while throwing his hands up in surrender. I glared at him, silently warning him not to say another word.
We reached the kitchen and my irritation level went up another notch. The last person I wanted to see right now, was Heather and sure enough, guess who was in the kitchen? That’s right, Heather.
“Alpha Colton, Beta Josh, good evening.” Heather greeted us, but her eyes were glued on me.
“Good evening, Heather.” Josh said and nodded. I simple nodded to her.
“I haven’t seen you in days, Alpha Colton. I really need to run a few things past you, are you available tonight?” Heather asked, in a seductive voice. I internally cringed, this night couldn’t get any worst.
“Not tonight Heather, I’m busy.” I replied, with a short tone. She pushed her bottom l*p out, in a pout. Goddess, I hate when she does that.
“How about tomorrow then?” She asked.
“Sure, tomorrow.” I replied, just wanted to get away from her. I walked past her and went straight for the fridge.
“Can I prepare you something, Alpha?” Heather asked, while approaching me.
“No.” I replied, while pulling out two plates of leftovers.
“Here, let me warm that up for you.” Heather said, while reaching for the plates. I gave up, the woman is relentless.
“Thank you.” Is all I replied.
Josh kept giving me weird looks. I know he’s not a fan of Heather’s, he thinks she fake. He’s right, but I still wish, he would just butt out of my personal life. Heather is going to be the Luna, I’m not going to be sharing a bed with her or anything, but he still needs to accept it.
Once the food was warmed up, I took the plates from Heather and thanked her, before walking towards the door.
“Why don’t you guys eat here, with me?”
Heather suggested.
“This isn’t for us.” I replied and continued to walk away. I didn’t miss, the annoyed expression on her face and it internally made me smile. For some reason, ever since I met Jessica, my patiences for Heather has gone down drastically and if she doesn’t back off, I’ll be calling off the whole Luna ceremony. She needs to learn her place.
Josh and I, made our way back to Samatha’s room. When we reached the door, I knocked.
“Come in.” I heard Samantha say, excitedly.
I opened the door and found both Samantha and Jessica sitting on the bed. They both had smiles on their faces and my heart skipped a beat. It was the first time, that I saw Jessica smiling and I couldn’t help the smile, that spread across my own face.
“Holy s**t! Quick, take a picture.” Josh shouted, drawing everyone’s attention to him.
“What?” Samantha asked, with a confused look on her face.
“I can’t tell you, the last time this big bad Alp… I mean guy, smiled.” Josh teased, with a big smirk on his face, as he walked over to the bed and sat down next to Samantha.
He’s so lucky the girls are here right now, I want nothing more than to knock him out.
I handed Jessica and Samantha, each a plate of food, before I took a seat in the armchair.
“So, when are you guys going to take us home?” Samantha asked casually, while glancing between Josh and I. How the hell, am I going to answer that? Before I could reply, Josh spoke up.
“How about, you guys stay with us for a few days?” Josh suggested casually and I was grateful, I didn’t want to kick his a*s, nearly as much anymore.
“Really? That would be so much fun. Will you show us around?” Samantha asked excitedly, with a big smile on her face. I could see why Josh liked her, she seemed easy going and energetic. Plus, I swear they have the same annoying personality.
“Of course.” Josh replied, with his own smile.
“What do you think, Jessica?” Samantha practically squealed out the question. Without even realizing what I was doing, I held my breath and waited anxiously for Jessica to answer.
“Ummm, sure.” Jessica replied and relief flooded through me.
I was all of a sudden, grateful that Samantha was here. Josh was right, just her presence seems to put Jessica at ease.
I noticed, that Jessica continued to look over at me, she had a curious look in her eyes. It was a relief that she didn’t seem frighten, even after all the information that I revealed to her.
Josh and Samantha, did most of the talking, while they ate. I couldn’t take my eyes off Jessica, she’s pretty and everything about her draws me in.
Once they were done eating, I saw Jessica yawn. It had been a long day for them and she was probably exhausted.
“Would you like me to take you back to your room, Jessica?” I offered, in a low husky voice.
“Yes, please.” She replied, in a soft voice, while giving me a small smile.
I stood up and she did the same.
We said goodnight to Samantha and Josh, before leaving the room.
“How are you feeling?” I asked, once we were far enough away.
“A little overwhelmed, but all and all, better then I would of excepted.” She replied, while glancing at me with a smile. My heart literally skipped a beat, when she looked at me. She’s so perfect.
“You’re not a prisoner her, you can go wherever you want. I’ll give you a tour tomorrow, so you know where everything is. I just asked, that you don’t leave the territory and that’s strictly for your own safety.” I said to her and she kept glancing at me, with a curious look.
“Why are you doing this? I mean, protecting me? You don’t even know me.” Jessica asked, with a frown. I let out a sigh. How do I answer that, when I don’t understand it, myself.
“To be completely honest with you, I don’t know. Something in my gut keeps telling me, that I need yo keep you safe and my wolf is drawn to you for some reason.” I replied truthfully. I really couldn’t bring myself to lie to her. I saw a flash of curiosity in her eyes, as she processed my words.
“Your wolf, is drawn to me?” She asked curiously.
“Yes, I have a human side and a werewolf side. I can communicate with my werewolf, inside my head. It’s annoying at times, he can be a real pain in the a*s.” I said and chuckled lightly.
“That’s actually pretty cool.” Jessica replied and paused for a moment before continuing. “Thank you.” She finished and I glanced over at her, with a confused look.
“For what?” I asked, with a frown.
“For saving me and keeping not just me safe, but Samantha as well. She’s all I have left, I don’t know what I would do, if something happened to her.” Jessica replied and I could hear the sincerity in her voice.
“No need to thank me. Hopefully, I can help you break the spell, so you can get your memory back and figure out who you are.” I said, as we reached her bedroom door.
“That would be nice,” she said softly, as she opened the door. She paused, before walking in and looked at me one last time.
Without even realizing what I was doing, I reached up and brushed a stand of hair from her face. She closed her eyes at the action and her breathing became heavy .
“Good night, Jessica.” I said and started to walk away, before I did something I would regret. There was no doubt, that I was attracted to her, but I just needed to control my urges. She’s not my mate and I’m not about to start messing around with her. Especially, since Heather is about to become my Luna,
“Alpha Colton.” I heard Jessica’s soft voice, from behind me. I stopped and turned my head, to look at her. My own heart was racing, as I wondered what she could possibly want from me.
“What is it, Jessica?” I asked curiously. I could see that she was having an internal battle with herself. She wanted to say something, but nothing was coming out of her cute little mouth.
“Nothing, have a good night.” She said and I could see the disappointment on her face. I wish I could read her mind right now, figure out what she was thinking.
I was having my own internal battle. I wanted to wrap my arms around her and k**s her soft red l*p. It took everything in me, to simply nod my head and walk away. I heard her door shut a few seconds later and I let out a breath, that I didn’t realize I was holding.
I got into my room and laid down on my bed. What is going on with me? I need to contact the witch tomorrow and hopefully get this spell broken, so both Jessica and I, can move on. Hopefully, she has family that can protect her. The longer she’s around me, the more I’m draw to her. This isn’t good.
