The Point of Fate
Chapter Twenty-one

This is the day. This is the day that everything changes. Jared and I awoke early this morning to prepare. We trained and exercised for a few hours then dressed for battle. It didn’t really matter what I wore since I was sure that I would have to shift into my wolf. I tried talking to Naula, but she was still blocked. I wore a plain black t-shirt, old jeans, running shoes and a gray jacket on top. When Jared wasn’t looking I slipped the steak inside the jacket and met him downstairs.

“Jared...am I to shift and stand with them?” I asked.

“Yes...so they think you are on their side.” He said as we left the house.

“I can’t shift unless I talk to Naula...but for some reason, I can’t get to her.”

He stiffened and looked away. “Well, then I’ll help you with that.” He said and looked me in the eyes.

He murmured some ancient language that I didn’t recognize and I felt the block lift. Naula immediately tried to get me to shift.

Stop! He’ll know something is up! Naula just calm down...I have a plan.

Does it involve ripping him to shreds? She growled.

Technically...it more involves shoving a stake through his heart.

I look forward to it.

“Can you talk to her?” He asked.

“Yes.” I said smiling. “She’s all in.”

“Good.” He smiled and helped me into the car.

The drive was silent until we reached Nates territory.

“You know the plan.” He said.

“Yes...pretend to be on their side but once the battle begins, you bring Blake out and he will go after me and I will kill Nate in self-defense...then we will destroy the rest.”

“Yes. Now time to depart. I’ll see you at the battlefield.” He said kissing me lightly on the lips.

I kissed him back and smiled. Then I slipped out of the car and watched him drive away. I walked all the way to Nate’s house without shifting so that I wouldn’t loose the stake. Nate was there waiting.

“Are you ready?” He asked.

I nodded.

“I’m not sure if I can do it though. What if he says is true and killing him will kill you?” He asked pulling me into a hug.

“Don’t worry Nate, I’ll be fine.” I said. “Now...let’s prepare for battle.”

After an hour, we all headed to the clearing on Hollow Mountain. We stood on the west side and the vampires entered from the east. My father stood in the front along with Nate and I. The king of the Vampires stood in the front along with his right hand man. Jared was hiding a few rows behind him. Dark clouds had already rolled into the sky above us, but if wasn’t getting worse...not yet anyways.

“I told you there was no need for this.” The vampire king said meeting us in the middle with Jared and the other on his sides.

He was tall, with dark gray hair that went to his shoulders. He was wearing older robes as they normally did in formalities. His dark orange eyes held age and wisdom yet anger and malice. Jared glanced at me and then at Nate.

“Your kind killed some of mine. You have brought this upon yourself.” My father said.

My father didn’t know the real reason for this battle.

“May I add something?” Jared asked stepping forward.

The king looked astonished and I figured Jared was speaking out of turn.

“No you may not.” He said sternly.

“Well I’m going to anyway.” Jared said. “You see, the real reason we’re here is well between us really,” He said pointing to Nate and I. “And you are just in the way.”

In a quick motion, Jared staked both the king and his right hand man and then jumped back. Only we saw what he did, everyone else was too far away.

“Treason!” He yelled. “They killed the King out of turn!”

The vampires yelled and became furious. Our wolves started to respond with disbelief and started to ready themselves. Jared then looked Nate dead in the eye and said a word in a different language. Nate fell to the ground. I grabbed my father and pushed him away.

"This isn’t your fight Father, back up and tell your men to wait.”

He seemed hesitant at first but ran back to the wolves. Nate shook and then shifted. He growled ferociously and turned to me. He prepared himself to pounce and Jared prepared himself with a silver dagger. I fell and backed away slowly. That’s when the winds picked up and lightning flashed. Jared ignored it and watched closely. Just as Nate lunged, so did Jared. Lightning struck, right in between the three of us causing them both to fly backwards. Nate regained control and helped me up. Jared looked completely shocked. Lightning flashed again and a woman appeared. Annaliese. Right on time. She started chanting and the wind started to pick up and swirl around the confused Jared.

“No! You can’t do this to me!” He yelled. “I can’t be stopped!”

Annaliese’s eyes glowed and Jared steadied himself with in the whirlwind. He screamed and a blast of energy shot out from all around him. Everyone was knocked back including Anna. She regained her balance and shot power at him. He stopped it with his hand and laughed wickedly.

“You think you can stop me?” He laughed again diminishing the power ball. “You witches, should mind your own damn business.” He said and blasted her with a blue energy wave.

She fell and we ran over to her to help her up. Blood ran from her nose and her eyes were dark.

“And you!” He said pointing at me.“You had me going for awhile. I really thought you were under my power but I guessed I underestimated you. But not anymore.”

He raised his hand slightly and I started to float in the air. Nate jumped and growled but I was to high up. I tried to teleport, but couldn’t. I must have been thirty feet in the air before he pulled me down forcefully. I hit the ground hard and heard Nate growl. I jumped up and teleported over to him. As soon as I reached him I force kicked him into the mountain side. He just laughed and picked himself up. He ran at me and tackled me to the ground. I pushed him off and rolled onto my knees. Naula was growing restless. I ran at him and jumped. I shifted in mid-air and tackled him to the ground, biting into his upper right arm. He yelled and kicked me off. I growled and he sneered at me.

“You can’t defeat me Louie! You don’t have what it takes!” He yelled standing up straight.

Lightning struck behind him and I stared.

“But I do.” A voice said behind him.

Jared spun around and the person shoved the petrified stake into his chest. Jared stared in shock.

“Im...impossible.” He stuttered and stumbled back.

He fell onto his knees and clutched the steak. His skin started to pale and turn gray. Black blood oozed out of where the steak was. His chest blackened and began to fall away as ash. He fell over onto his back and shook.

“NOOOOOOOOO!” He yelled.

Soon his whole body disintegrated into ash. The wind picked it up and it disappeared into nothing, leaving the steak behind. He was gone...he was finally gone. Pain erupted in my chest and I automatically shifted back. I collapsed onto the ground and curled up into a ball. Nate ran over to me as did a few others. Someone through a blanket over me and someone else picked me up.

“Nate we need to get her back to the house.” The person who was carrying me said.

“I know what to do, but we need to hurry.” I think Anna said.

My sight blurred all together and I faded into darkness.
