Chapter 66 Distress Call
It was late in the evening, and the beach was bustling with visitors enjoying the open–air swimming area. The seaside was comfortable at this time.
Peyton maneuvered through the crowded people, when suddenly a couple holding a map stood in her way, wearing apologetic smiles.
“Excuse me, miss. Could you please tell us how to get to Delorwe Park? We seem to be lost!” the girl said, pointing at the map in her hand.
Peyton had been stopped by tourists asking for directions before. After all, Saeville was the economic center of the country, and the beach scenery was nice.
She was in a good mood now and lowered her head to look at the map. Just as she was about to say something, she noticed something wrong with it. It wasn’t a paper map but a handkerchief designed to look like one, and it even had a strong, unpleasant odor.
Peyton’s heart started racing, and she instinctively tried to escape, but it was too late. The map was forcefully pressed against her mouth and nose.
At first. Peyton struggled, but soon she passed out.
The tall guy caught Peyton as she fell, and the girl, disguised as a couple, took off her wide–brimmed hat and placed it on Peyton’s head.
They supported her and waded through the sea of people, mocking her as they walked. “Can’t handle a drink, huh? Now Denzel and I have to help you back. How embarrassing!”
Soon, the two of them helped Peyton into a black car parked by the roadside and disappeared at the end of Vanara Road.
Meanwhile, Freya went to the market, buying vegetables and pork trotters. She remembered Peyton’s slightly worn–out face from the days of hard work, so she headed to the seafood market and bought a
live fish.
Carrying the groceries, Freya returned home. Just before entering, she stopped by a cake shop at the doorstep and bought Peyton’s favorite chocolate “dirty” bun.
She used to have a sweet tooth herself, but after spending three years in prison, she felt that she couldn’t handle sweet things anymore. No matter how sweet they were, everything tasted bitter.
“Peyton, I’m back! Later, you’ll be responsible for packing those T–shirts. We’ll arrange for a courier to pick them up tomorrow. Let’s try to send out today’s orders first,” Freya said, chattering away as she changed her shoes at the door.
She placed the groceries on the kitchen stove and called Peyton’s name, but there was no response.
“Gone out? This girl Freya washed her hands and entered the room, searching everywhere but replaceing no sign of Peyton.
