Chapter 156 The Wedding Invitation
Finished
Contrary to popular belief, Nathaniel's impending nuls didn't upset Freya. Instead, she felt a mild surprise, nothing more.
His romantic interests, his choice of a life partner, his love affairs, the number of children he fathered...
None of these mattered to her. She was solely interested in his life.
As Freya approached the tea room door, a well-dressed group of people appeared in the corridor, with Abigail at the center.
Freya hadn't anticipated running into Abigail here, and it was impossible to avoid them now. The group was moving too quickly, heading straight towards her.
Among those accompanying Abigail, Freya recognized a few former employees of the Gomez family who had later betrayed them to side with Nathaniel.
She surmised that these individuals had played a significant role in Nathaniel's overthrow of the Gomez family, with Mr. Handerson, the Human Resources Department manager, among them.
With the news of Abigail and Nathaniel's engagement now public, Abigail was making a show of herself at Technologent Group. It was akin to the chairman's wife touring the company, and everyone was eager to curry favor with her.
A few of them were still holding the invitation letter that Freya had seen earlier in the design department; she assumed some departments hadn't received it yet.
"Ms. Gomez!" Abigail spotted Freya immediately, and moved to block her path, preventing Freya from reaching the tea room.
Abigail was dressed exceptionally elegantly today, adorned with accessories and jewelry, exuding the grace and luxury befitting Mrs. Morgan.
The resentment she had felt after her major argument with Nathaniel over the Newport Villa seemed to have evaporated, as if the incident was a mere fleeting cloud.
Freya admired Abigail's composure in social situations, and her ability to maintain a cheerful demeanor in the presence of her fiancé's mistress.
Abigail stood before Freya, her chin slightly raised, a polite smile on her face.
"Ms. Gomez, you seem quite busy. But Nathan entrusting you with such a significant project is a testament to his faith in you. If you work diligently, Nathan will undoubtedly appreciate you more." Abigail had dropped the formalities, referring to him as Nathan, assuming the air and posture of the future Mrs. Morgan.
Her tone suggested she was bestowing a favor upon Freya, clearly delineating the hierarchy between them.
Freya felt her acting skills were inadequate, so she remained silent, dismissing Abigail's words as mere background noise.
She figured that once Abigail had finished flaunting her status, she would be allowed to leave.

Freya's nonchalant demeanor visibly irked Abigail. Her eyes turned icy, but she remained unfazed.

In recent days, her father had been hosting Nathaniel at the Hill's for lengthy, private discussions. Despite his ruthless nature, Nathaniel was known for his gratitude.
He had resolved the conflict between his foster father and the Lloyd family.
The Hill family had supported him in his early years, and she had once saved his life.
Moreover, with Alexander's rapid rise, Nathaniel's downfall was imminent without the Hill family's
support.
She and the Hill family had always been able to predict Nathaniel's next move accurately, but Freya was an unpredictable factor.
Since Freya was an unknown, they would gradually wear her down.
After all, she and Nathaniel were set to marry soon. Once she became Mrs. Morgan and took control of Nathaniel's life, they would see who could protect Freya then.
A glint appeared in Abigail's eyes. She turned to the side, took the invitation card from the Human Resources Manager, and handed it to Freya.
"Ms. Gomez, you are cordially invited to Nathan's and my wedding. This is a golden invitation card. You can enjoy a cruise and witness our wedding ceremony."
