The President’s Mistake A Tale of Love and Regret -
Chapter 276 Meeting with Technologent Group
Jacob didn't speak for a long time. This wasn't the assurance he wanted, but it was enough for him. "Okay," he said slowly, stepping back and waving to Frey before disappearing into the darkness. As Jacob walked away, Frey felt a chill all over, her back drenched with a fine layer of sweat.
She took a deep breath, turned, and walked into the apartment building. Her steps were a bit unsteady. She didn't notice the ordinary off-road vehicle parked across the street where Nathaniel sat quietly, his cigarette butt flickering in the dark.
Early the next morning, before Frey went to the company, she received a call from Mandy.
"Frey, Technologent Group asked our design department staff to come over today. The design draft has been handed over to the engineering team. They're hosting a multi-party meeting, and there's a social event afterward."
Frey nodded and promised to head over soon. This kind of thing was normal.
Their company was the designer, Technologent Group was the investor, and there was also third-party oversight from the municipal government, along with the leader of the engineering team.
Before the start of the first phase of the project, several parties had to meet. Generally, the presidents of both parties didn't need to be present. It was enough for a few specific persons in charge to meet and communicate.
After all, once the project started, these persons in charge would often meet to discuss any problems that arose during the process.
Mandy didn't show up, so Frey directly led several people from the design department and drove to Technologent Group.
As soon as she walked in the door, everyone looked at her with complicated expressions.
Ignoring these speculations, Frey went directly to the small conference room on the tenth floor that had been agreed upon earlier. She didn't like to be late, so she arrived early.
Carrying her laptop and materials, she walked into the conference room. As soon as she entered, she froze.
Frey didn't expect anyone to be there already, and the man who was already seated in the conference room was Nathaniel
He had a serious look, leaning back in his chair, and looking down at his phone. His expression was solemn, as if attending a funeral, and his eyes were a bit blue, suggesting he hadn't slept well. Next to him were several people from Technologent Group's design department, all sitting upright.
Seeing Frey, one of the persons in charge stood up and smiled at her, "Ms. Frey, sit over here." The arranged seat was directly opposite Nathaniel. Frey greeted everyone bravely and sat down.
After a while, people from the engineering team and the city government arrived. What was supposed to be a relaxed meeting, given the extensive preparations everyone had made, became tense with Nathaniel's presence.
Nathaniel just sat there, not talking, barely acknowledging anyone, staring at his phone.
Occasionally, when Frey spoke, he would pause with his long fingers holding the phone, listening without looking up. Once she finished, he'd continue browsing his phone.
This made the meeting a bit awkward. It ended quickly, and the design manager of Technologent Group looked at Nathaniel and smiled respectfully, "Mr. Nathaniel, everyone has explained the meeting's content. Do you have any other arrangements?"
Nathaniel slowly raised his eyes and glanced at Frey, who was sitting across from him. "Didn't we arrange for everyone to get together before? Let's go to Red Shift. I'll cover all the expenses tonight." The engineering team members didn't expect such generosity from Technologent Group. Red Shift was not affordable for ordinary people, and the atmosphere in the conference room instantly became lively. Frey frowned. As the representative of Andala Corp, she had to go.
It was the first time for everyone to work together. Since they weren't familiar with each other yet and probably wouldn't get too wild, she planned to stay for a while.
