The Rebel -
Chapter 1
The little girl was lying on her mother’s lap, staring at her mother’s beautiful face, there was a big bruise around her mother’s eyes.
Her little fingers were caressing her mother’s dark skin when she suddenly flinched under her touch.
“Does it hurt, Mom?”
Mom shook her head to say no, but the tears streaming from her eyes said otherwise.
However, she didn’t want her daughter to worry about her, so she rocked her peacefully, slowly moving her legs.
But how could this little one sleep when she saw such an atrocity?
“No Vera, It doesn’t hurt, don’t worry. That nasty mark will go away in a few days, darling.”
Saying this, she placed a k**s on little Vera’s forehead.
But the little girl was very perceptive and she could see the sadness in her mother’s eyes.
She knew her mommy was lying.
“Why do you let him hurt you, Mommy? He’s evil! It’s so mean of him to do that to my mommy.”
“Shhh!”
The lady placed her index finger on Vera’s lips. The little girl fell silent immediately.
“Remember Vera, right and wrong don’t exist in this world. What your father says is always right, never stand up to him! Don’t you agree? You must never oppose what he says or does.”
The little girl clenched her little fists.
Sitting on her mother’s lap, she questioned her desperately.
“But, it’s not just what he does to you, Mom! He hurts you! I hate him, I…”
The little girl was lying on her mother’s lap, staring at her mother’s beautiful face, there was a big bruise around this mom’s eyes.
“Shhh… No, Vera, please! Don’t hate him! He’s your father! He has responsibilities as king of the werewolves. You must never question his decisions.”
“But why Mom? Why?!”
The young girl asked with tears in her eyes. The woman took Vera’s small hands in hers and kissed them lovingly before replying.
“We’re women, Vera. There’s only one thing we teach women, and that’s to live a quiet, happy life… … Women must be obedient.”

Little Vera was a keen observer. Her beautiful brown eyes lost their innocence when she saw her father hurt her mother every day. However, she wouldn’t let that cloud her judgment.
Her father may have despised her mother, but the rest of the world respected her as the great Luna of the werewolf world.
But behind the bedroom doors, all the respect she was entitled to was stripped from her, leaving only the bruises and scars on her little.
Her older brother never intervened to defend her, saying it was just the way things were in their world.
But the little girl couldn’t believe that this was the will of their creator.
Was her mother the only one? Were all women treated this way?
Determined to replace out what was right, the little girl spent days in silence.
She didn’t utter a single word, preoccupied only with her thoughts and observations.
And she was surprised to see that most women suffered the same fate as her mother.
Her mother had done so much for her father!
She always did his bidding and respected his orders without flinching. After all these sacrifices, what did she get in return?
Pain and suffering!
Despite her young age, Vera knew very well that her mother’s smiles were feigned.
She was no longer her happy mother, but a shell broken from the inside, who could lose her footing at any moment.
And indeed, her mother did collapse one day!
Her mother collapsed in her arms, while her father stared at her, his face impassive.
The inhumanity of this man and all the men in the pack made Vera wonder what the purest bond of all was.
What exactly was this famous “Companion Bond”?
Her father didn’t shed a single tear, while Vera shed every tear in her body.
And the love of a 7-year-old girl for her father disappeared in tears and screams.
“Organize a funeral!”
These were the only words out of the werewolf king’s mouth as he turned his back on his wife and daughter.
And that’s when little Vera swore she’d decided not to listen to even one of her mother’s teachings.
She’s going to be a rebel!
