The Rebel -
Chapter 3
The Redblood pack
Alpha’s office
“I’m afraid, Alpha, I’ve brought bad news,” announced the pack’s gamma, causing the quill in Alpha Logan’s hand to drop onto the sheet of paper.
Then leaning back in his seat, he stared at gamma’s lips.
“Go ahead, I’m listening,” he said in a cold, domineering voice, making gamma tremble slightly.
“The attack on the Silvermoon pack was a failure.”
The Alpha was unpleasantly surprised by this news.
He hadn’t expected it.
“What’s happened? Call me the Beta.”
The Gamma put his feet up anxiously, wondering how he was going to tell him this.
“Alpha Logan… I’m afraid… At first, everything was under control. The women and children were captured and even the late Alpha’s daughter surrendered. But then we lost mental link contact with our warriors and when we arrived with reinforcements… They were all dead. Including Beta Ron.”
Alpha Logan stared at Gamma in silence. Nothing as an expression, except the cold stare he always had.
Gamma tried to continue.
“Beta’s throat was slit with a knife and all the others died from the same knife. We suspected the…”
Logan raised his hand, forcing the Gamma to shut his trap.
Hands behind his back and eyes downcast, Gamma swallowed.
“Weren’t my instructions clear?”
Gamma Ben knew what he was talking about. Beta Ron was a crafty bastard. He never followed instructions properly, and that was forcing the Gamma to put an end to his mess.
In a way, he was relieved he was dead now.
He remained silent. Then Alpha Logan roared at him.
Finally letting out his anger.
“A task. I gave you a simple task: negotiate with this woman to acquire her territory. And you couldn’t accomplish it!”
“And what is this enslavement? Did I ask you to enslave women and children? Wasn’t I clear when I said I didn’t want vulnerable women and children brought back here!”
“We had to ask them to leave the territory. Kill them or turn them into thieves, I don’t care. But what’s this bullshit about capturing them!”
Ben swallowed again. Alpha Logan harbored a deep-seated hatred for the weak. In fact, no women except pack mates were allowed into the pack.
So this rule hadn’t changed for years, making their pack the strongest in the world.
“I’m sorry, Alpha Logan. With all my heart. But it was Beta Ron’s order.”
Logan pounded his fist on the table, rising from his seat.
“That bastard… ! He always had to get me in trouble. If it wasn’t for his father’s sacrifices to our pack, I’d have killed him myself by now.
Anyway, how many men did we lose?”
“72 in all, Alpha. All dead, no survivors.”
Logan nodded, taking his tux from behind his seat.
“Since the women were involved, I suspect it was him again. The way they were killed, it’s his style of murder, for sure.”
“The Rebel?”
“I think so, Alpha. The Rebel was their savior.”
Logan was indeed deep in thought. This was the first time the Rebel had meddled in his affairs.
Being an important member of the council, he’d heard a lot about him.
But as they say, nobody had ever seen him.
In fact, he was desperate for the territory of the Silvermoon pack in order to conquer the council’s golden seat.
His goal of claiming the title of Alpha King was very close now.
However, he would have to negotiate with the women if it came to that.
And he was ready to do so.
“Make arrangements, Ben, we leave for Silvermoon tonight. Inform them of our arrival.”
Gamma looked at him in surprise. He never met people personally, especially women.
“But Alpha… Are you sure? They might not want to negotiate after what happened. Besides, we don’t have a beta now, so who’ll take second command?”
Logan paused in the doorway to stare back at him.
“Don’t ever doubt my decision again, Ben. Besides, as far as the Beta position is concerned, you’re the new Beta of the Redblood pack.”
Ben looked at him stunned. He couldn’t believe it was real. In fact, he thought the Alpha hated him, but then again Alpha hated almost everyone with a passion, or so everyone thought of him.
“Yes, Alpha. Yes, Alpha. Thank you,” he said, bowing. Then, giving him one last look, Logan left.
Ben breathed a sigh of relief, wiping the beads of sweat that had accumulated on his forehead.
The women had better accept his terms tomorrow, or God knows what would happen if he unleashed his beast tomorrow.
If Alpha Logan was scary, his wolf-like appearance was deadly.
After all, he was no ordinary wolf.
He was a full-blooded Lycan who lived for two things:
Power and respect.

“You can’t abandon us now!”
Rosie said, looking at Vera with despair and disbelief.
She’d helped them so far, she couldn’t abandon them along the way.
“I was clear at the start. I’m saving you and I’m leaving.”
“But Vera! Their Alpha is coming! He’s a member of the council, he won’t let us win, we killed his Beta and his warriors for God’s sake! How are we going to justify ourselves? You’ve got to save us from this! Please!”
Vera sighed and rolled her eyes, doubting her decision to help them by getting mixed up in this mess.
“What can I do?”
Rosie pulled up a seat to sit her down. Taking her hands in his, she almost begged.
“I want you to be the Alpha of this pack. We owe you our lives and you deserve that position.”
Vera pulled back from his grasp, looking at her in disbelief.
The very idea was repugnant to her.
After all, a pack meant duties and responsibilities. And she preferred to be alone and free.
She couldn’t accept that.
“Please, Vera. You’ve got it in you! You can be the first female Alpha. What’s more, we’ll all be respected and protected under your command! Please!”
Vera rose from her seat and walked away, shaking her head no.
Rosie called to her, but she refused to stop.
She stepped out.
And to her surprise, women and children by the hundreds surrounded the place.
They bowed before her.
Grateful to have saved their lives.
“Alpha Vera! Alpha Vera!” …
they began to shout in unison. Vera looked at Rosie incredulously.
She made a mental connection with them.
And if that wasn’t enough, little Amelia was hugging her from behind. Preventing her from taking another step.
“Please don’t let us die. Don’t let us die.”
And that was the last straw.
Vera could pretend to be insensitive, but her heart beat for the protection of the weak and powerless.
Taking Amelia in her arms, she smiled at her before turning to everyone.
“I agree.”
Cheers and shouts of joy surrounded her. As people rejoiced in their safety, Rosie came over to hug her, too happy to help herself.
Amelia was asked to leave, while Rosie looked admiringly at her savior.
“Vera! No, Alpha Vera! I’m so happy, I can’t tell…”
Vera abruptly stopped her.
There was silence.
“But I have one condition.”
Rosie grew anxious, but nodded anyway. Ready to do anything to get Vera to agree to this.
“No one must know I’m the Rebel, Rosie. Only you know.”
Rosie nodded, she understood her reasons, no one would have thought in her wild imagination that the Rebel was a girl.
Women were considered weak and dependent.
Until someone like Vera came along to shatter these stereotypes and challenge the inflated egos of these headstrong men.
What’s more, Alpha Logan is a council member and the Rebel is a much-wanted criminal.
Under no circumstances would she let them unmask this girl in front of her.
The Rabelle was the only representative of equality in this skewed world.
The only hope for women in this male-dominated world.
Their savior
