Chapter 4

I drove back to my parents‘ house.

Standing in front of the familiar gate, I took a deep breath as I looked at the building I had lived in for 20 years. No matter how hard I tried to control my breathing, I still couldn’t stop myself from tearing up.

I I

“Dad! Mom!” I opened the door and happily hopped into the yard while I yelled like I used to.

Oh! Our beloved Tay is back!”

Hearing my voice, my mom, Daisy Calson, immediately rushed out of the living room. My dad, Charles Morgan, was closely behind.

Seeing my late parents alive in front of me, I couldn’t help crying and jumped into my mom’s embrace.

“Tay, what’s wrong? Why are you crying so suddenly?Mom worriedly asked as she hugged me and held my face after seeing me cry.

I felt warm under my mom’s long–lost care. My tears couldn’t stop flowing as I received the love that I had

lost.

I thought about the terrible state my parents were in when they died in my previous life, and my heart started aching.

At that moment, I was over the moon that I had the chance to relive this again. I would cherish this

feeling more than anything.

“I’m fine. I just miss you guys so much. Mom, Dad, I want to stay with you for a while. I don’t want to leave

you guys.”

After I was done hugging Mom, I went into Dad’s embrace.

Previously, I spent all of my attention on Gordon. My parents would ask me to come back for dinner, would always reject them. I even got into a fierce fight with them for Gordon.

Now that I thought about it, I was really a terrible daughter.

but I

In this life, I had to make it right for my parents and not let the devastating history repeat itself.

“What’s wrong with our dear Tay? The last time you acted like this was when you were still in elementary school. Did that bastard bully you?” Dad gently asked after being stunned by my sudden passion for them.

Since Gordon always treated me badly and kept having scandals after our marriage, Dad had a bad Impression of him. He would always say Gordon was a bastard in front of me.

If I heard my dad say that in my previous life, I would start arguing with him nonstop. Now, I would never hurt the two people who loved me the most for that bastard ever again.

“He didn’t bully me. I just had an epiphany. Mom, Dad, you two are the most important people to me in the world, and I want to be by your side.”

Chante:

I calmed myself down and grinned at my dad.

I probably looked silly after crying and smiling, because Dad found me amusing and started laughing.

He lovingly pinched my nose. “Wow! It looks like our little girl has finally become sensible. I’m not used to

this.”

“That proves that our daughter has grown up. You came back just in time, my dear daughter.”

Mom smiled and dragged me to the kitchen.

“Look. I made your favorite seafood chowder, and we even have your favorite truffles today! Go be with your dad in the living room. I’ll let you know when it’s ready.”

“Alright, Mom. Then, I’ll practice playing the plano for a while.”

I nodded with a smile and couldn’t help hugging my mom again.

“The piano?” Mom’s eyes flashed with happiness when she heard me saying that. “Why do you suddenly want to practice playing the plano?

“It’s great that you’re willing to play again. I clean the piano for you every day in case you might fall in love with it again.”

Mom would force me to play the piano when I was young. She didn’t hope I would enter the business battlefield like Dad. However, she always told me a woman had to have a specialty to survive.

Unfortunately, I was too stubborn back then and didn’t want to listen to her advice. I even ignored

everything she had told me.

In the end, I was useless. Not only did Gordon torment me for that, but I was mocked and despised by

everyone in our circle.

I turned around and went to the piano room. Like Mom said, the white piano was sparkling clean despite not being used in years. Mom even covered it with a piece of thin cloth.

I sat at the piano and gently played a few notes. Then, I started playing Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.

At first, the sound of the piano felt unfamiliar to me. However, I started to rediscover the feeling of playing the piano for the first time as I played.

Without realizing it, I began playing with my heart and soul.

Previously, I would only play the piano to perform. After dying once, I had a new understanding of this

piece.

When I thought about my experiences in my previous life and how desperate I was in the sea that night, my heart started aching terribly.

My parents had suffered because of my uncle and cousin. Gordon had hurt me repeatedly.

Even the sound of the piano sounded sad and miserable.

When I finished playing, my face was covered in tears. I sat in front of the piano and couldn’t calm down

for a long time.

Suddenly, a large hand gently landed on my shoulder.

My dad’s deep yet gentle voice sounded. “Toy, you were so focused on your music just now. What’s wrong? Did anything sad happen recently?”

I quickly wiped away the tears and turned to him with a smile so he wouldn’t be worried.

“Dad, I feel like I’ve suddenly grown up. I never listened to what you and Mom told me last time. However, I replace that everything you say makes sense now.”

My dad looked at me with a happy gaze. It was like he had finally seen the daughter he was waiting for..

He said, satisfied, “Tay, if that’s what you think, then it means you’ve really grown up. Dad has been

waiting for this day for a long time. I’m happy to hear you say that.”

Things at Radglo Corp. had been busy for the past two years, and half of my dad’s hair had turned white. I used to think about Gordon all the time and never realized my parents were slowly getting older.

Two years ago, my family was affected by the economic crisis as well. Under pressure from the board of directors, Dad borrowed two billion dollars for me to help the Holmes Group through the tough time.

Back then, I didn’t know that money was crucial for our family as well. Because of what my father did, Radglo Corp, faced a lot of financial issues, and it led to a chain reaction

In the past two years, Dad’s power in the company was affected. Many shareholders were secretly unhappy about him.

Meanwhile, my cousin and uncle had already contacted a few shareholders and were prepared to rise in

the ranks.

Tonly found out about what had happened when it was too late. After my dad was kicked out of the company entirely and my parents died, I slowly learned about everything.

I figured his hair was turning white because of that. I felt immense guilt.

At that moment, Mom was done preparing our meal and was calling us from downstairs.

I went downstairs with Dad, and we happily had dinner together.

Not only did my mom’s seafood chowder look great, but it also tasted the best. It was one of her best dishes ever. She had forced me to learn it from her before I got married.

Since it was rare for me to come home, my mom almost used up all the best ingredients in the fridge.

There were white truffles, caviars, and more. Everything was on the dining table, and it looked like she wanted me to have everything.

I had a great time finishing everything on the table with my parents. Since I had lost this warmth before, I was cherishing the moment ‘even more now.

“The last time you downed food like this, you were still in high school. After meeting Gordon, you kept saying you want to fast.

Chapte

*Why should a girl like you fast? You should eat whatever you can so you can have a child soon.”

Mom lovingly looked at me as she spoke with a blissful smile.

She knew I wanted a child for the past two years and hoped I could be pregnant. She thought Gordon might change how he treated me if I had his baby.

“Mom, I’m still young, so I’m not in a rush to get pregnant. I want to start working at Radglo Corp. and

learn how to work from Dad.

“I hope I can help share his burden so that he won’t be too tired,” I said to my parents with a smile after I finished my food and wiped my mouth.

“Really? Are you really thinking about doing this, Tay?”

When my dad heard what I said, he was so excited that he almost spilled his wine.

He had always hoped that I could inherit the family business.

However, I was a girl. Mom had always pampered me since I was young, thinking I just needed to replace a good husband and not tire myself out. That was why Dad never forced me to do anything and would follow what I wanted.

“Yeah, I’ve thought about it, Dad. I’m the only daughter you have. Since you’re getting older now, I should help share your burden,” I said solemnly while nodding.

Hearing what I said, my dad’s face instantly became red from excitement.

He put down his wine and said with a grin, “Alright! Since that’s what you want, I’m more than willing to teach you. Why don’t you come to the company next week and start working as my assistant?”

Just as I was about to nod and agree, my cousin, Mona, yelled from the entrance, “No, uncle! I won’t agree to it!”
