The Reckoning of Love Chapter 22

Chapter 22 The CEO’s Missus Isn’t One to Be Trifled With

Standing in the elevator, Julian furrowed his eyebrows upon hearing those words. There was some kind of emotion swimming in his eyes.

Ella, on the other hand, had turned green with anger. Celeste’s smile might appear gentle, but it was clearly laced with mockery.

Celeste’s smile faded as she tried to step away, but Ella quickly reached out and stopped her.

A little angry and confused now, Celeste demanded, “What do you have against me? We have nothing to do with each other. We don’t even work together!”

As the CEO’s secretary, Ella naturally felt irritated after being ridiculed by a young lady who knew nothing!

Still, she remained composed as she emphasized, her gaze icy. “I was just reminding you out of the kindness of my heart to focus on your work.

“When did you see me not focused on my work?” Celeste retorted, holding onto her files.

Ella was at a loss for words upon hearing that. She could only clench her jaw as she struggled to control her urge to lash out.

“Please, Miss Walker, you should spend that energy on your work!” Celeste mentioned in a calm. voice. She knew the thoughts in Ella’s head. “By the way, let me kindly remind you that your boss is married.”

Ella’s eyes frosted over. “You will have to bear legal consequences for spreading rumors,” she

warned.

“I’m just giving you a friendly reminder. It is your choice whether to believe it or not.” Celeste chuckled. ‘It wouldn’t do your reputation any good if you somehow became a mistress, would it?”

With that, Celeste shrugged off Ella’s hand and confidently walked past Ella, leaving her behind.

“Celeste Kiss!” Ella suddenly turned her gaze and repeated while holding herself back, “If you dare to spread rumors that Mr. Meister is married, you will receive a letter from the lawyer!”

Celeste didn’t even bother to acknowledge her as she left with hastened steps. What an annoying

woman!

Inside the elevator, Julian caught every word of the women’s conversation.

Other than the hint of unusual emotion in his eyes, his stern countenance remained impassive.

Ella stepped into the elevator before long.

Her heart skipped a beat as she paled when she, to her surprise, coincidentally met Julian’s gloomy eyes.

“Good day, Mr. Meister. She quickly regained her composure and stood beside him after she turned around. “May I know which floor you are heading to?”

“Back to the office, he replied in a deep, magnetic voice.

The female secretary then pressed a button to close the elevator door.

Now that the doors had closed and the elevator ascended, Julian and Ella were the only ones in the relatively confined space.

For some reason, Ella felt guilty standing by his side. She didn’t know if Julian had heard their conversation just now.

When she thought about what he might think of her, she decided she needed to try and save her image.

“Mr. Meister.” Ella softly spoke up, there’s a new employee in the Design Department named Celeste Kiss. It seems she’s interested in you. I was just kindly reminding her to get herself together.”

Julian spoke slowly after a moment of silence. “You should worry less about things outside of work. Although his voice was grave and cold, he didn’t sound like he was blaming her.

Ella’s heart sank. “Yes, Mr. Meister.”

The elevator arrived at the floor where the CEO’s office was located. When the doors opened, the distinguished man stepped out of the elevator with long strides,

Ella followed closely behind. She was extremely regretful and worried that Julian would think less.

of her.

Smart as she was, Ella carefully pondered his words carlier, only to realize that he was helping Celeste.

Furthermore, Celeste called out Julian’s name in front of everyone during the important occasion. yesterday.

A thought suddenly crossed Ella’s mind…

Do Mr. Meister and Celeste know each other?Could Celeste be that first love of his?

Ella’s heart thumped again when she considered that, and she couldn’t help but feel a sense of

desolation.

Celeste was feeling quite frustrated because Chelsea repeatedly emphasized that she wasn’t letting

Celeste participate in designing Love Forever.

And since Celeste didn’t have to work overtime today, she went back home and sat cross-legged on the couch, holding her tablet while she poured out her grievances to Mr. Moon.

As a designer himself, Mr. Moon understood the hardships a newcomer to this industry had to face. Not only that, the competition was fierce, and producing decent work was the only way one could stand out.

With that, he began to comfort and encourage her.

When Julian returned home, he saw the woman sitting on the couch, engrossed in her conversation on the tablet on the couch. Her smile was all over her face. Even though it wasn’t a voice call, Julian could tell from her expression that she was chatting with someone.

When Celeste noticed him, she glanced at him and asked, “Back from work?”

“Yeah.” He walked toward her and bent down to take the tablet from her hands.

“Hey, what are you doing?” She reacted by stretching out a hand to grab the tablet, but it was already out of her reach.

He went and placed the tablet aside before he sat down on the couch. “It’s your first day at work today. Did you have any problem adjusting to work?”

Celeste was a bit surprised. Is he… concerned about me?
