The Reckoning of Love ( Sophia Yancey )
The Reckoning of Love Chapter 43

Chapter 43 He Would Not Let Sophia Go

Thomas was well recognized for his charisma and excellent looks while studying abroad, which got him into a fair amount of trouble due to his romantic escapades, and he even received death threats as a result.

He could still clearly recall the mafia organization from Yestrington that threatened to take his life the first time, and he was incredibly shaken and nervous for days after that. In the end, his family stepped in to take care of the issue on his behalf.

“Have you ever gotten any death threats in the past?” he asked.

Hearing that, Sophia looked at him as if he were insane. “What?”

“You’re way too calm. Aren’t you scared?” Thomas pressed.

“Will being afraid solve the problem?” Sophia placed her laptop back into her bag. “Thank you for arranging transport for me, Mr. Ulmer. See you in the hotel lobby at 7.00AM tomorrow.”

After Sophia’s departure, Thomas was still thinking about their conversation until he received a call from Joseph.

“Where are you, Mr. Lynch? The bill’s waiting for you!” he greeted in a grating voice.

“I’ve sent a few people over, Joseph replied coldly. “They’ll take care of the leaders there.”

“Tch. Thomas leaned on the plush seats. “Surely you’re not putting in so much effort for the sake of your buddy?”

“Just say what you want to say.” Joseph’s tone was laced with impatience.

“What’s the deal, Joseph? Aren’t you planning to let Miss Yancey off the hook?” Thomas asked.

“No, I’m not.”

Before this question, Thomas had been sitting with his legs propped up, but he immediately straightened his posture upon hearing Joseph’s answer. “What?”

“I said, I’m not planning to.”

“Then, what does Miss Yancey think about this?” Thomas probed.

From Sophia’s behavior, it didn’t seem that she wanted to be involved with Joseph any longer.

“What she thinks isn’t important. In the worst case, I can just lock her up.”

Hearing that, Thomas felt a chill run down his spine. “Have you lost your mind from thinking about Hannah?

Joseph had already given up on trying to figure out whether it was because of Hannah or Sophia, but one thing he knew for certain was that he would not let Sophia go.

“Joseph, that’s not quite fair of you. She’s human too…

“Worry about yourself.” Joseph interrupted before hanging up.

He didn’t think he was being unfair in any way. Firstly, if Sophia were to leave him, her quality of life

would decrease significantly, and secondly, how much would she have to suffer without his protection in this dog-eat-dog world? Other than giving her a rightful name, he could give her anything else to ensure that she could live her life without any worries,

After giving it some thought, he gave a call to the men he sent to Edgeminster.

“Don’t let things go too smoothly. Get into Miss Yancey’s way appropriately, but keep an eye on her and don’t let her get hurt.” Joseph ordered in a deep voice.

The person on the other end accepted his orders, flabbergasted.

Weren’t they here to help Sophia and Thomas? Why did they have to get in Sophia’s way? As expected, Joseph’s way of thinking was truly hard to comprehend.

After hanging up, Joseph felt slightly better. Once Sophia found out how difficult the outside world was, she would naturally recall how great it was to have everything go her way when she was by his side.

Right… I have to take a look at some good rehabilitation centers in Cleyrora, he thought. Soph was calling for her grandma in her sleep, so she must miss her.
