The Reckoning of Love ( Sophia Yancey )
The Reckoning of Love Chapter 48

Chapter 48 Blackmail

At the hotel lobby, a black vehicle was parked right outside the main door. The driver sopped and quickly exited the car to open the door for Sophia

Thomas was dressed in a flashy suit. He moved in and casually greeted the woman, “Good morning Sopht

“Morning Sophia got into the car, her face colder than usual.

He noticed that she wasn’t in a good mood, so he didn’t continue to try and talk to her.

As soon as the car started, he put on a sleeping eye mask to catch up on deep. Since he came here, he couldn’t acclimatize well and had no proper sleep. Sophia continued to email someone back and forth and ignored his antics,

Upon their arrival at the construction site, Gavin greeted the couple with a bright smile on his face

“Ah, look at you two. The construction site is a mess, you two shouldn’t be here in person Gavin tried to joke helplessly

Instead, Sophia replied lightly with a smile, “Since there is an incident at the construction site, it’s natural for us to come and take a look.”

He smiled and nodded. “Well, it’s normal for the villagers to stir things up with us. Your coming all the way here is making me worry!”

She didn’t respond. Instead, Thomas spoke up with a smile. “Oh, that’s unfortunate. It’s their misfortune to come into conflicts.”

Gavin was taken aback. “What do you mean by this, sir?”

The smile on Thomas’ face grew, “If what they want is money, then that’s no big deal. However, if they try to hurt Soph or me, they can forget about getting any money. Instead, I’ll even give them two silver bracelets as parting gifts.”

Gavin smiled back helplessly. “I was just concerned.”

Thomas nodded, still smiling as bright as the sun. Then, the group headed for the meeting room on the

construction site.

The door creaked open.

There were a dozen other people already sitting inside. By the looks of their clothes they were all local workers. Noticing the group coming in, the people sitting around suddenly slammed the table and shouted.

“So, you’re the people in charge of this sh*try company? How heartless you are! You even want to disturb a family’s ancestral burial site! I’m going to fight you all today!” A man with rolled-up sleeves looked like the leader and was even about to rush over

When Gavin saw the man’s reaction, he rushed toward him and motioned for him to be quiet. Gavin, too, didn’t expect that a wealthy young man and his sophisticated female secretary wouldn’t be intimidated by their threats

“Hey, hey, calm down, Gavin said hastily “Mr. Ulmer and Miss Yancey flew here from Cleyrora just to

discuss the issue” He pushed the man back into his seat

“No more discussions! You can only build a bypass the leader shouted angrily

“A bypass?” Sophia sat down and asked calmly. “That’s not impossible

Gavin and his workers flew into an uproar. “Miss Yancey, we’re already halfway through the second phase of the project. How can we make a bypass for this?”

There was more yelling. “Yeah! That’s going to be a huge increase in the cou

Another man asked, “Mr. Ulmer, is that what you want as well?”

Of course, Thomas did not agree to it. It would cost at least 150 million more just to create a bypass Calm down. I haven’t finished talking yet. Sophia glanced at the leader of the villagers kindly. “You know as well that if we build a bypass, our company will suffer huge losses. We can create a bypass, but we will need you to cover the losses”

Thomas almost burst out laughing

These people were here to blackmail them, but Sophia was excellent.

Her reverse psychology immediately worked, forcing them to think, Gavin and his workers looked confused.

“B*tch, are you kidding me? We want you to compensate us. How dare you ask us for money instead In his panicked state, the man expressed his true intentions.

Gavin’s face darkened considerably. His initial plan was to mess with the minds of those big high rollers from Cleyrora who stubbornly refused to pay, then hike up the construction prices. Now, however, that plan was blown…..

“Three years ago, our company legally took progress photos and pictures of this piece of land, including the land where the ancestral burial site in question is,” Sophia retorted quickly. “Out of benevolence, we’ll, agree not to move the ancestral burial site. Asking you to bear our losses by buying up this piece of land sounds fair, don’t you think?” As she spoke, she smiled. “The company can’t fork out money just to help you demonstrate family values, right?”
