The Reckoning of Love ( Sophia Yancey )
The Reckoning of Love Chapter 53

Chapter 53 A Rare Gem

In the end, Sophia did not even give Gavin a chance to turn himself in. He was taken away by the approaching cops as soon as he left the office. “Sophia! You’ll face the consequences sooner or later for your cruelty!” he cursed as he was reluctantly pushed into the vehicle.

Thomas frowned and instinctively looked at her. Although cursed, she remained indifferent. He raised an eyebrow slightly. “When did you plan all of this? You never informed me about any of it.”

“These matters fell under my watch, so it was my duty to address them before transferring them to you, Mr. Ulmer, Sophia stated calmly.

“You didn’t even give him a chance to turn himself in. We’ve known each other for five years, haven’t we? How did I never realize that you have such a ruthless side?” He crossed his arms. Although he still appeared nonchalant, admiration could not be hidden in his eyes.

“If I don’t get rid of them completely. I’ll end up in trouble myself.” She paused briefly before adding. “Furthermore, they also vandalized my friend’s expensive car.”

“An eye for an eye. Impressive.” He smiled as he gave a thumbs-up.

“Mr. Ulmer, I’ll continue to handle the next steps. Do you have any objections?” She raised the list in her

hand.

Having initially lacked confidence in Sophia before his arrival, Thomas was finally convinced by her work efficiency. “Of course.” He nodded.

She waved toward a trembling man not far away. The person was Joel Harrison, the Director of Human Resources. He and the rest of the management team were on high alert as they witnessed Gavin being taken away. While Gavin was still around, varying degrees of greed prevailed within their ranks.

Now, it felt like an invisible sword hung over their necks, poised to sever their lives at any moment.

Joel hurriedly ran over. “Miss Yancey, Mr. Ulmer….

“Gather everyone for a meeting.”

“Uhm….” Joel quickly took out his phone and notified the entire work group.

Beside him. Thomas pulled out his phone and opened the chat with Joseph. He was eager to share how adorable and intriguing Sophia was with him. Yet, for some reason, he hesitated. In the end, he exited the chat window.

As Joseph was about to get married soon, Thomas deemed it unnecessary to inform him about how cute or interesting other women were. He tucked his phone into his suit pocket and asked Sophia with a smile, “Miss Yancey, it’s almost noon. What would you like to eat?”

“After the meeting. I’ll eat at the cafeteria.”

Thomas was somewhat surprised. He had dated quite a few women, including those in serious relationships. Some loved Michelin restaurants, while others only dined at high-end bistros. In any case. they indulged in luxury,

However, this was the first time a woman had told him she wanted to eat at the cafeteria. Joseph was more than willing to spend money on Sophia, especially when writing a check. so Thomas had once thought she was just an ordinary gold digger.

It seems like I was wrong.

“What are you looking at?” She noticed Thomas’ inquisitive gaze and turned back to stare at him displeasingly.

His eyes curved into an innocent and pure smile. I’m just smiling… After knowing Joseph for so long, I finally see that he’s made a mistake. You’re truly a rare gem in this world.”
