Chapter 1516 Public Display of Affection

Cindy furrowed her brows slightly and she shifted to the side uncomfortably to avoid him, but she continued to say, "There's no need for all that between us. She doesn't care for all these pretenses."

Suddenly, lan laughed and sat up as he leaned against the back of the chair. Then, he replied in a faint voice, "Well, I care about it, alright?"

At that moment, Naomi lifted her head to look at the two of them. She had noticed them inching closer to whisper to each other earlier, so she started to tease, "I guess you haven't had enough of the public display of affection while we were in that game, which is why you're doing it in front of me again. Could you please spare a thought for this single lady here and show some concern for my delicate mind?"

Meanwhile, Cindy raised her voice to hide her fluster. "Hurry up and order our meal. Stop dilly-dallying. If you keep this up, I won't let you choose the dishes!"

Just then, Naomi grunted lightly and lowered her head to browse through the menu. Truth was, she was in a tight spot and didn't know what to order because everything on the menu was just too pricey. They had just graduated not long ago and weren't earning a fortune, so they tended to spend within their means. Her first reaction upon seeing such a posh menu was to jump in fright. Although Cindy was in a relationship with someone loaded like lan, Naomi had no intention to take advantage of the situation. I must not take advantage of Cindy's boyfriend even if he's loaded. If I do that, surely he would be unhappy with Cindy. In the end, Naomi flicked through the menu and chose two comparatively affordable dishes.

At the same time, Aurora held a menu in her hands too, but she was much more relaxed about it than Naomi so she went ahead and ordered two dishes before handing over the menu to Cindy. "Cindy, take a look and choose what you'd like to have."

Cindy accepted the menu from Aurora and flipped through it. The first thing that she noticed was the price range and her heart turned cold at the sight of it. However, she steeled herself and ordered two more dishes.

Just then, lan inched closer to her and shared her menu. Subsequently, he ordered two more dishes, a soup, and two desserts, signaling the end of the order for their table.

Soon after that, the waiter left the room with their order and Cindy took several deep breaths as she realized that she was starving. She also realized that they should be able to clear off all of the dishes today so instantly, she felt much better about the situation. After all, it was quite important for one to be able to provide comfort for themselves at the right time by coming up with excuses to bring peace to themselves.

As they waited for the dishes to be served, lan asked Cindy about the incident with the two fans who had tried to replace fault with her. In reality, she didn't think that they had succeeded in causing trouble. After all they were quite young and spoke immaturely. She concluded that her retort had managed to render them fuming mad so she was quite pleased about that.

Just then, lan lifted the teapot next to him and poured some water into a cup for Cindy. At the same time, he said, "I've spoken to Hannah about this and the company will release a statement. Although it's not a big deal, I need to show my stance and steer public opinion. Don't worry. I won't let you suffer.”

Meanwhile, Naomi sat by the side and shot a look at Cindy with a smirk. The former clearly had a teasing look on her face. She waited for lan to finish his sentence before saying, "See, I told you that he would definitely stand up for you! Once the statement is released, the two girls will realize that they've stepped on their own toes." I don't even know where they got the courage from to come forward and stand up on behalf of lan to attack his girlfriend! Funnily enough, they've really overestimated themselves!

Cindy and lan exchanged looks and nodded in response. "Sure. I won't take it to heart."

They continued to chat with each other for a short while before finally getting their meal served by the waiter.

Cindy's cell phone chose that moment to vibrate so she quickly took it out to have a look, only to see that there were two unread messages. Just then, lan noticed her actions too. They were sitting quite close to each other so by shifting his gaze slightly, he could see the display on the screen of her phone.

Cindy then clicked into the messages and saw that both of them were from Gary.
