Chapter 1547 Why Is He Not Back Yet?

After Cindy finished cooking, she called lan again.

Fortunately, he picked up this time around, but his voice was quite calm. "What's up?"

Upon hearing that, Cindy heaved a sigh of relief. "Why are you still not home yet? I called and messaged you just now, but you didn't reply. I was worried that something might have happened to you."

Snorting, he countered, "I'm already an adult. What could happen to me?"

Cindy pursed her lips in response. "Are you coming home for dinner? Naomi will also be here and we can ask Mrs. Morgan to come over too."

However, he immediately replied, "I'm not going back tonight. I have something on later."

Cindy then opened her mouth and wanted to ask him about what he would be up to, but through the phone, she could feel that he did not treat her as well as before.

In order not to feel uneasy, she did not ask that question and just nodded.

"Then can you call Mrs. Morgan and ask her to come over for dinner?"

lan agreed and neither of them spoke after that. There was complete silence on the line.

Initially, Cindy wanted to have a quick chat with him to ask how he was doing but before she could say anything, he hung up on her.

Standing in the kitchen, she held her phone tightly as she zoned out.

Seems like lan is not in a good mood. I think he is mad about something.

Cindy quickly placed the food that she had just cooked on the dining table and waited next to it.

Aurora was the first to arrive. After all, she stayed quite near to them.

When she entered the house, she was quite surprised. "lan said that he has something on tonight. What could happen at the company? I asked him, but he didn't tell me."

Cindy was too shy to say that she did not dare to ask him.

Hence, she could only replace an excuse for him. "Perhaps they wanted to talk to him about his schedule for next month. It's not a big issue."

Upon hearing that, Aurora nodded. "Alright, as long as there are no major problems."

Just as they finished speaking, Naomi arrived.

She was also surprised to replace that lan was not home, but she did not think too much into it.

She just joked, "How is it going? I must say, lan is too hardworking! It's already so late, yet he's still out working."

Cindy agreed and played along with her. "Yeah, he's still young after all, so it's good to work hard."

The three women then sat down for dinner. This time around, they had a proper dinner. Without lan around, the topic of their conversation became wider.

First, Naomi complained about being busy at work all day, and she placed her focus on the couple who were displaying their affection to each other publicly.

Then, Aurora also chirped in on the same topic and complained on how she sometimes saw young couples hugging each other in public, acting as if no one else was around.

"Young people nowadays are getting so brave. Back when we were young, someone else would definitely rush over to us and scold us."

Then, Naomi turned around to look at Cindy. "Did you do something out of line with lan in public? Do tell! We won't say anything."

Upon hearing that, Cindy smiled. "Do you think it's possible? I don't even dare to hold hands with him outside."

Aurora quickly nodded. "That's right. Your interactions might be followed by people outside."

Looking at Cindy, Naomi suddenly felt sorry for her. "In this case, you guys are really quite pitiful. If you want to do anything, you have to do it secretly at home."

Why did our topic head sideways again?

Cindy felt a little exasperated as she muttered, "You better replace a boyfriend soon so that you guys could do something together secretly. Otherwise, you are way too curious about others. Be careful not to fall ill thinking too much about this."

Naomi glared at her in response. "Of course you can make such jokes now! Not bad at all. I can see some improvement."

Even if the three women did not drink, they had their meal slowly.

However, even though they ate slowly, lan still was not home after they finished.

Aurora put her cutlery down and looked at the door. "Why isn't he back yet? It's already so late. What could he be discussing until this hour?"
