The Returning EX (John and Sophia) -
Chapter 2056
Chapter 2056 Leah Is Terrified
Bryce was never petty with her, but now that he was gone, no one would spoil her in the way that he did anymore.
lan suddenly recalled the time when Sean told him about Simon fleeing and leaving Leah behind. Without Simon or the people closest to her by her side now, Leah probably wasn't in her best condition. Just the thought of no one being there to take care of her was enough to make lan sigh.
The two of them continued to lay in bed for a little longer before they sat up to play a game.
Meanwhile, Logan had just shoved Leah inside his car before sending her to the hospital. He then dropped her at the entrance and left her for dead.
She was gasping for air as she lay sprawled on the floor and couldn't utter even one word.
If it was her in the past, she would have made a fuss by crying and shouting about it. However, her current state no longer had the capacity to do something like that anymore.
There naturally were a lot of people walking in and out of the hospital, and when they saw her, she was immediately brought into the hospital.
The ER doctor who examined her was surprised to see the condition that she was in.
Just her face alone had sustained multiple gashes so deep that her flesh was hanging from the wounds.
Seeing the terrible wounds, the doctor immediately treated her before giving her a checkup. The rest of her injuries weren't as severe as the ones on her face, but the same couldn't be said for her leg injury from before the femur that she had broken seemed to be healing at a wrong angle.
The ER doctor had also recognized Leah after examining her and proceeded to inform the inpatient department about their missing patient who had now returned.
Leah's condition didn't actually require her to stay at the hospital. However, despite the fact that she could recuperate at home, she had insisted on staying at the establishment.
It was a waste of medical resources for someone who didn't need medication or injections to take up a bed in the ward.
On top of that, her consistently terrible mood caused her to lose her temper with the medical personnel. Her reputation in the hospital hadn't been the best because of that.
A doctor from the inpatient department hurried over to take Leah from the emergency ward, and even though he seemed slightly surprised when he first recognized her, there wasn't a hint of sympathy on his face.
Leah, who was lying in bed, struggled to take deep breaths.
Her ears seemed to be buzzing, but she still clearly remembered what those men in the car had warned her before tossing her out.
Logan truly was a cruel man. Not only did he not hold back when he attacked her, he even warned her that he would destroy more than just her face if she were to make the incident public.
The tightening of her chest felt more real than the pain on her face.
She knew that he was a cold-hearted and ruthless person, but she never would have thought that he could be so unmerciful.
He seemed as though he could even kill a person if he had to.
After the doctor from the inpatient department brought her to her ward, he asked Leah about her injuries and whether or not she would want to make a police report.
She almost jumped out of the bed when she heard the word 'police'. "No! Don't," she muttered in a shaky voice. "Don't get the police involved. I did this to myself. No one else was involved."
A frown immediately appeared on the doctor's face after hearing her words. He even advised Leah to not be afraid, and that she should bravely stand against evil as the police would help her.
However, Leah only insisted that no one had inflicted those injuries on her. According to her words, she became injured after sneaking out and falling on her face.
Of course, the doctor knew better than to believe that the injuries were not inflicted by a person.
After making sure that she was settled down in her ward, the doctors quickly gathered together to discuss who her assailant was.
The first person whom they suspected was Sean as they knew how bad his relationship with Leah was.
However, they couldn't imagine that someone as gentle and elegant as him could do something so brutal.
One of the gossipers suddenly suggested, "I'm sure Leah has offended many people because of her personality. It could also be her other enemies who did this to her. Just look at how she stood up against Sean when they argued before. Isn't it weird that someone as fearless as her is now acting like she has seen a ghost?"
Furthermore, Sean didn't do anything to retaliate even after Leah had gone out of her way to ruin his reputation. It didn't make sense for him to suddenly bail her out of the hospital and injure her face after all the time that passed when things between them seemed to have calmed.
Sean was automatically cleared of suspicion after the doctors pondered about it.
