Chapter 2096 Despicable Behavior

Aurora raised a hand to cut the man off. "We talked about this a long time ago and agreed that things between us have come to an end. You already moved on to replace someone new to start a new life with, and what you're doing now-sitting in my home and asking for a second chance is ridiculous! What, have you divorced that woman already?" she rebuked.

The man started looking uneasy. "I broke up with her a few days after we officially went out. She wasn't my type, and she wasn't the one for me either."

Aurora snorted. "Just because she wasn't the one for you, you decided to come running back to me? Where are your sensibilities? How did you even come to this decision? Did you think that I'd forgive you and agree to go out with you again just because you came back and changed your mind about me?"

One of the security guards standing to the side didn't look too happy with the man either, and he was particularly grumpy as he demanded, "How did you get in here? We don't have your name on the visitors' log at the security booth, so how did you get into the compound?"

The man gave the security guard a brief look and made no reply. Needless to say, it looked like he had trespassed into the apartment.

Cindy glanced at lan and asked in hushed tones, "How did it come to this? Can't you guys just hash things out?" She didn't think it was exactly a conundrum here; if Aurora refused to see the man, one could just make him leave and warn him not to cause a scene.

However, lan looked glum as he explained, "I wish we could hash things out, but right now, I'm itching to call the police."

The man had been pestering Aurora shamelessly earlier; he lingered outside the hallway and banged on her front door while shouting numerous threats. The more she refused to open the door for him, the more menacing he became. In fact, he looked like a madman.

When lan had arrived at her apartment, the man was still shouting through the front door, telling her that if she didn't agree to see him today, he still had a million tricks up his sleeve to make her comply with him. However, it sounded like a load of nonsense.

lan had come close to punching the guy, and they would be locked in a brawl right now had Aurora not called the security guard to come up.

Presently, Cindy turned to look at the man. He didn't look like he had everything in his life sorted out despite how he obviously tried to look put-together for this less-than-welcome meeting. On the contrary, he looked exhausted and roughed up by life.

Judging by the weary expression on his face, Cindy could tell that he was having a hard time doing life with that woman, which was probably what prompted him to recall all the good moments he had with Aurora and made him come back seeking a second chance with her.

A man like him was despicable, and Cindy would have spat at him if it were in her nature to do so. He thinks too highly of himself, she thought sardonically. She hated it when men went back to their exes just because their current partners treated them poorly. The only exception was if they had broken up due to a misunderstanding; if that were the case and the misunderstanding was eventually resolved, getting back together with an ex seemed like fate.

Alas, this man and Aurora did not break up because of a misunderstanding; they had talked things out and agreed to separate. He only came crawling back to her because he was having a miserable time with his present girlfriend, and he wanted to relive the better parts of his former relationship with Aurora. This behavior was disgusting, and it did not sit right with any reasonable person.

Just because you're miserable doesn't mean your ex hasn't moved on to a better life.

At the thought of this, Cindy grew sullen and looked up to address the security guard, "As you can see, sir, this man here has nothing to do with us. Please take him away."

Upon hearing this, the man gave Aurora an anxious look. "Are you so heartless that you would ignore my feelings for you? I love you, and I can't let you go."

This isn't a matter of heartlessness, Aurora thought wryly. She simply did not return his feelings, and whatever sentiments she had for him were already gone. "Nothing is going to work out between us in this lifetime, so don't waste my time here and replace someone who can wait on you hand and foot. Don't come here thinking you can get a second chance from me!"

However, the man was determined as he reached out to grab her hand forcefully. "I really can't let you go, though. I've been regretting my decision ever since we broke up, and I've missed you so much. You have to believe me. I'm telling the truth."

Aurora made no response, but Cindy hurried up to them and slapped the man's hand away. "Let her go! I'm warning you-we're calling the police if you don't leave right now." Having said this, she turned to the security guards and said curtly, "Please take this man away right now. We have nothing to do with him."

The security guards stepped forward to drag the man away, but he shrugged them off and roared, "Let me go!" Then, he pursed his lips grimly as he stared at Aurora for a while. As though finally coming to his senses, he nodded and declared, "Fine, if you're so set on not giving me a second chance, I'll back off. However, I spent money on you while we were seeing each other, and now that you just left and ruined my life, you have to pay me back."
