"Real life doesn't work that way," George said, arriving with Elliot. They were concerned to see the crowd. congregating in one spot instead of admiring and ordering jewelry. "Only a fool believes that life is all about living in ease without effort. That's why lazy and weak people lose everything they have because they don't know how to value it," he declared, staring his son down. "Dad... ..." Roger was fuming as he faced another scolding.

"That's why I'm furious with myself for not being tougher on you and stopping your mother from overprotecting you," George said, frowning.

Seeing this, Deborah moved closer to pat George's arm to help him calm down.
