Chapter 298
Extra 10: A Day with Dad, Part 1
With his plan underway, Jayden focused on designing the buildings.
That day, he didn't feel very inspired despite wanting to create an innovative design that would mark the return of Cooper Construction. At the moment, he felt like his sketches were too basic, and he didn't want to make a classic design that was already common in the city... he wanted to create something new that would easily stand out.
"Ah... this isn't working." Jayden said sadly, crumpling the paper and tossing it into the air. Felix, thinking it was a game, caught it and brought it back, waiting for Jayden to throw it again. "Well, at least someone likes it." "Cheer up, love. I'm sure the inspiration will come to you and..." Just then, Deborah's phone rang, and she saw it was a message from her father. "Oh no..." "What's wrong, my love?"
"Um... Dad and my experts just noticed some strange movements in the stock market," she said, standing up. "I have to go check it out because this could mean trouble for our clients. It could be a sign of a scam." "That sounds serious."
"Yes, um... well..."
"Go. I'll take care of the kids and make sure the kids do their homework."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, go on. They need you."
"Thanks, love. I'll be back for dinner," she said, leaning in to kiss him on the lips.
"Good luck, my love," Jayden said, watching her leave the house with Danielle. "Ah... well, back to the design," he said to himself, picking up his pencil and rulers to continue working on the design. Just ten minutes after Deborah left, Jayden heard the hurried footsteps of his little girl.
"Mommy. can you help me?" Elizabeth asked, coming up to him with her math notebook. "Huh? Where's Mommy?"
"She went out for a bit to take care of something at work," Jayden said.
"Oh... um... okay... Daddy, can you help me?" she asked, showing him her math book.
"Of course. Let's see," Jayden said, pushing his drawing aside to help his daughter with her math problems.
Then he noticed James sitting next to him, quietly working on his homework.
"Alright, what's giving you trouble?"
This part, Daddy, look at this problem," she said, pointing to the page.

"Let's see..." he said, reading the problem. "So you have 10," he said, holding up his hands, "and you take away 3. So how much do you have left?" he asked, folding down three fingers. "Um..." Elizabeth smiled and started counting them. "One, two, three, four... um..."
"Five."
"Yes, five, six, and seven!" she said happily.
"Good," Jayden said proudly, watching her write the answer. "Sweetheart, when you replace an operation difficult, you can use your fingers to help."
"Hmm..." she said, trying to solve the next problem on her own.
"Dad."
"Hey," he said, turning to James.
"Can you help me check this to see if it's written right?" he asked, showing him his notebook
"Sure, let's see," Jayden said, taking the notebook to read his assignment. "Look, son, here you need to change this because, remember, 'vase' isn't written with an 'e' but with an 'a." "Oh..." James said, taking his eraser to fix the mistake. "It's just that sometimes it's hard."
"I know, son. You know what helped me?"
"What?"
"When I had doubts about how to spell a word, I looked it up in the dictionary."
"No..."
"Hold on, wait," he said, standing up to replace something. "Aha, look, this is the dictionary I used when I was your age," Jayden said, handing it to James.
"It looks old," Elizabeth said, seeing the yellowed pages.
"Okay, it makes sense that it's old since it's the one I used when I was a kid, just like you," he said, noticing James's grimace. "You know, son, I made the same faces when your grandma gave me this book."
"Really?" James blushed a little. "Um... sorry, Dad, but it's just that I don't want anyone to make fun of me," he said, handing the book back.
