The Runaway Groom
Chapter 543

Chapter 543

Dirk Hertz, Sammy's maternal grandfather, led the people rushing intothe room.

Their rivaling parties had always been at odds as they competed forprofit, and this was no different.

Even so, Dirk had the advantage in authority, even as the two factionsnow stood off against each other in a silent confrontation.

"We have everything we need to build a case against Zidonia. Why areyou releasing her?’

"What, with false charges against a heavily pregnant woman?Zidonians are already accusing US of illegal detainment, and it'salready causing quite a stir. Are you really going to push this to a pointof no return?”

"They are all talking. Once we get proof from her, no one would believea word they say-"

"She'd be dead before you do.”

In fact, even as Irene started to lose consciousness, she was bleedingprofusely from beneath her waist, dyeing her skirt red.

Knowing that they would be breaking a promise if they lose her now-and possibly the chance to solidify Sammy Raideen’s claim toleadership over the Raideens-Dirk understood that Irene must stayalive.

With that, he did not say another word and directed his men to takeIrene away.

While conflict was commonplace between his party's and theirs, theywould not actually resort to physical brawls-though their rivalries wouldonly get more heated now.

Sammy was waiting outside, standing by his car and checking hiswatch from time to time.

He hurried to Dirk when he saw him step out.

"Gramps..."

That was when he saw Irene in the arms of the man standing behindDirk, and she was bleeding all over the floor.

His face fell. "Put her in the car. I'll take her to the hospital.”

With Dirk's approval, the man quickly did as Sammy told.

"The rest is up to you, Sam," Dirk told him.

"Don't worry, Gramps," Sammy said as he jumped in his car and spedoff, calling Isaac along the way.

'I have her. We're heading to the hospital right now."

Isaac dashed out of his room as soon as he received the call. "Whichone?"

“Let me see... Flanley Hospital. It's the closest.”

"How is she? Let me talk to her."

Isaac was working hard to stay calm, but he could already tell thatsomething must have happened to Irene.

Otherwise, Sammy would have taken her to him and not straight to ahospital.

Sammy glanced at Irene from the rearview mirror to replace that she hadpassed out.

“I think... She's going into labor.”

Isaac felt as if something clenched over his heart, leaving his chest witha dull pain.

Irene was going into labor without him at her side again, just as it wasthe case when she delivered Tommy.

Even 50, he could not let slip how he felt in the presence of others, and thus kept his voicerestrained as he said, "Got it."

With that, he hung up and drove over to Flanley Hospital, but Irene was already in theoperating room when he arrived.

It seemed that things were so dire she might need a C-section, but even that was noguarantee of a safe delivery—it was premature, and Irene's body was in a terrible state.

Her bleeding was not just her water breaking.

When Isaac found Sammy, he was left staring at his bloodstained clothes, his handsclenching at his sides.

"Give it to me straight.”

“Well...* Sammy quietly said. "I don't think she's doing so well.” Seized by great unease,Isaac's breathing became rushed.
