Chapter 1051 Derek Visited Brandon

Derek entered the ward, parading the fruits and flowers in his hands. Meanwhile, Gilda decided to waitfor him in the corridor just outside the ward.

Derek discretely reminded Janet he had to discuss something important with Brandon alone. Janet didwhat she was asked and went out first.

What could they be talking about?

Janet almost pressed her face against the door in an attempt to see what was going on inside througha gap in the door.

“Mrs. Larson, eavesdropping is impolite,” Gilda suddenly said from behind Janet.

Janet sprung to her full height, desperate to explain herself but unaware of how to as she blushed inembarrassment.

Gilda let out a chuckle. “I won’t tell anyone.”

All the while, the situation inside was way different from what Janet imagined.

“What’s up, bro? How’s your condition? Well, your ruddy complexion tells me you’re feeling much betternow. Are you?”

Derek was unfiltered. He placed the things he brought, and then settled on an empty seat.

Brandon sorted out the pile of documents, taking time to talk to Derek. “If you’re only here to pay a visit,you can go now that you’ve seen me.”

A frown crumpled Derek’s face. Somehow, he felt belittled and that did not sit right with him. “I’m hereto tell you that I will not bother Janet anymore. You can rest assured in the future.”

Brandon put down the documents and said, “You finally decided to retreat. That’s a good thing. Nexttime, if you’re going to chase after a girl, make sure she isn’t a married woman.”

Derek did not sense any anger in Brandon’s words. There wasn’t even a hint of emotion directed athim. His plan totally failed.

Frustrated, he leaned back on his spot, complaining. “Hey, did you already I would stop chasing afterJanet? You didn’t look surprised at all!”

Brandon did know, in a way. Janet seemed to be in a good mood these past few days. She was alwayseither at W Marks or the hospital, taking care of him. She never once mentioned Derek whenever shetold him about her day.

Brandon assumed Derek had been keeping his distance from Janet since the car accident. Perhaps hehad given up on her from that day on.

Brandon didn’t answer and Derek was left

speechless. He smacked his lips. He had never known what to say to someone as arrogant andpretentious as Brandon. Derek’s elder brother was the same as Brandon. They were both so coldwhenever they were talking to others.

Derek lazily stretched before turning to the fruit basket he brought and picking out one of the apples.He began eating it.

The corner of Brandon’s mouth twitched. He regarded Derek with a cold glare as he desperatelywanted to kick the impolite man out of the room. “If you’re going to eat, go out. This is my ward.”

Derek took a few more bites at the apple before speaking. His words slurred. “No, I need to tell yousomething. It’s important.”

Quickly swallowing the apple, he added, “I’m here to thank you and Janet. If it weren’t for you, Iwouldn’t have been sitting here. You risked your life to save me.”

“It’s good that you know it.” Brandon’s fist was really itching to punch someone right now, but he did hisbest to hold back the urge. “Are you done? If you are, get out!”

“What a rude person you are. Why does Janet even like you?”

Derek puckered his lips in bewilderment. He had such a bright and sunny personality yet Janetwouldn’t even waste a second to look at him. Her taste in men was really bad.

Brandon was just lifting the quilt to get up when Derek took another bite of the apple and sighed. “Butof course, you must have some good qualities in you. Otherwise, Janet wouldn’t love you and onlyyou.”

A glint of envy was in his eyes as she whispered, “Alas, I saw real love from you two. And I think thatdeserves to be respected.”

Derek threw his almost finished apple in the trash can, and then stood up and said, “It’s about time. Ishould go now. Have a good rest.”

He was already at the door when a thought occurred to him. Looking back, he plucked a documentfrom the bag of snacks. “I heard you haven’t found the perpetrator yet. So, I guess you may beinterested in this.”

Brandon opened the file that Derek gave him. It had information about Roger, the man he had alsoinvestigated before.

“There’s no news about him now. Where did you get this information?” A cold glare flickered inBrandon’s eyes. He wasn’t expecting Derek to investigate the matter as well.

Derek decided to tell the truth. “I’m too busy with the endorsement and modeling all day long toinvestigate something like this. But my brother found out about the accident. He was so angry so he

looked into it. He dug about everyone related to Roger, but the information he had was only up toRoger’s disappearance. It was very strange. My brother checked the surveillance footage across thewhole city and only found the last place he appeared. You can go there when you have time.”

Brandon turned to the last page of the document. The last place where Roger was seen was adeserted building in the suburbs. It was a place developed by the Turner Group.
