Chapter 866

Chapter 866 Keep Some Mystery

Wilder, Derek’s manager, drew a sigh.

He couldn’t recall where he had heard Janet’s name before, but he knew it sounded familiar.

Title of the document

Wilder had been abroad with Derek to attend fashion shows all over the world. Between the two ofthem, they knew little about the domestic affairs.

“I don’t think Janet is just any other woman,” Wilder whispered to Derek. “Even Mr. Jenkins haschanged his perception of her. It looks like this woman isn’t as simple as she appears.”

Wilder initially thought that Janet was just another assistant designer. Apart from her strikingappearance, he didn’t think there was anything special about her. At best, she was Draco’s favorite.

But now that Axel had such high regard for Janet, he felt there was something strange about her.

What made matters worse was that Derek also appeared to have been smitten with this woman.

“Why are you being nosy today, Wilder?” Derek said, looking irritated at his agent, u

Wilder was taken aback by Derek’s reaction. He took a deep breath and told him gently, “I’ll look intothis woman’s background. Before we know more about her, don’t mess with her.”

Wilder knew that Derek was a playboy. But he could sense that Janet wasn’t the kind of woman whowould want to trade her beauty for a successful career. It was highly likely that she was not even awoman Derek should be involved with, for it would just lead to something disastrous.

Derek scowled at his manager. “Don’t spoil my good mood right now. I’ve finally met a gorgeouswoman I like, and she’s a rising star in the design industry. Look, I’m drawn to her and I want to pursueher. I don’t want to know her based on information from your inquiries. Could you please leave me withsome mystery?”

Wilder didn’t know what to say. “But…”

“Stop it, Wilder!” Derek said in a stern tone. “Why don’t you just bring me another glassof wine?” Wilderfelt compelled to do as he was told since he had no other choices.

The party was upbeat and congenial.

After changing into a new dress, Kathie left the restroom. She was ready to start mingling again whenshe noticed Janet talking to Zuri and Axel. Though Kathie couldn’t tell what they were saying, she couldsee they were smiling broadly.

Around them were other influential people, seemingly enjoying their chat with Janet. The womanappeared to be the star of the show tonight as she stood in the middle of them. She was dazzling, andyet, quite irritating.

Out of pure envy, Kathie gripped the wine glasstightly. So tightly that the glassshattered and she cuther hand. Kathie didn’t care at all. Jealousy was gnawing her. She gently picked up the tissue on thetable and wiped the blood between her fingers.

Janet beat the Gem Studio and attended the Iridescent Show. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be the center ofattraction in today’s celebration.

Kathie turned around with a sneer. She must teach Janet a lesson tonight.

The party was already halfway over, but the lively atmosphere did not dim.

Axel raised his glassand sipped the last of his vodka. “It’s late, and I usually fall asleep around thistime. I can’t keep going any longer. You’re all younger and more energetic than me, so you cancontinue having fun for the rest of the night.”

“Good night, Mr. Jenkins.” Everyone nodded.

Axel had rarely appeared in public in recent years, so it was a great honor for Zuri that he accepted theinvitation to the banquet tonight.

“Let me send you back,” Zuri said as she set her glassdown and walked over to Axel’s side.

She turned to face Janet and bade her farewell before leaving.

The banquet’s two main characters had left, and the lively atmosphere had faded a little. Janet plannedto leave after finishing the orange juice in her glass.

At this moment, several beautiful female models surrounded her.
