The Sugilite Prince -
6 - Our History
As the night progressed, Jimon learned that they were all raised in the palace. As children, they played together running up and down the halls fighting with little swords and other rambunctious games. They had their schooling together, sharing their misery at being cooped up, consequently making a strong bond between them.
But all did not stay innocent, with three young people left to their own devices during the long afternoons. They laughed and reminisced about their childhood escapades and the trouble they would get themselves into. At some point, something happened and they were separated, but the bond remained and whenever possible they would replace a way to meet in the woods. Hidden by the trees they would go swimming together. Their secret meetings, with the fear of getting caught, were even more fun enticing their adventurous spirits.
On one of those warm lazy days, Sugi found himself aroused by her innocent touch and little kisses, as they played in the water. He was ashamed and embarrassed so he hid from them, while Fae and Vante warmed themselves in the sun at the edge of the water. After a while, they looked for him briefly but assumed he had already left, as he secretly watched them go.
When they came back home, without the prince, they found their worried patents along with guards searching for the missing prince. That day, they were punished and not allowed to see him again. Sugi was very upset with his parents, blaming himself for getting lost saying it was not their fault, but the damage was done. They had taken a risk and had paid for it.
Fay retold the story of how Sugi stormed out of his parent’s room his face wet with tears. He told her he was not allowed to see her or Vante. “Sugi squeezed me tight and told me I would always be his first love.” She smiled up at his eyes hidden by the mask. “That was the last time I saw his violet eyes.”
She continued, “We couldn’t escape the fact that we were never meant for each other. He was a prince and we were just there to keep him company so he wouldn’t be lonely. We didn’t know this was going to happen. Our lives changed, going to a proper school and living in the city. I couldn’t imagine how much our separation would hurt. I thought of our time together every day. If it wasn’t for Vante that kept me sane, all I could feel was pain.”
“I still love you,” he said leaning over to kiss her lips.
“And me?” Vante asked.
Sugi got up and wrapped his arms around his friend. Hiding his face in his chest he said, “I love you too.”
