Chapter 200 The Brigands From The Black Mountain Fortress (Part One)

On the mountain road about a mile away from Valley Town, a largegang of brigands was rapidly marching towards the Town. Every one ofthem looked fierce and the gang was led by Miller, the chief brigand ofthe Black Mountain Fortress. He made his way forward on a red horseand his head bowed a little.

Only few people knew that Li was Miller's family name. Lanny, theleader of the Li Clan, was his brother. And the brigands of the BlackMountain Fortress were actually the Li Clan's secret fight force. The twobrothers were similar, since both did dirty work for a living—one wasknown to the public as a business, the other was part of theunderworld.

When Miller got wind of what was going on with the Li Clan, heimmediately made preparations to go to Valley Town to support hisbrother. But even before he left his Fortress, his spies reported that allthe principal members of the Li Clan had been killed, including theleader, Lanny.

Miller was furious, his rage knowing no bounds. He soon askedeveryone in the Black Mountain Fortress to gather and the bandimmediately started for Valley Town to avenge his brother.

With Miller were a huge number of brigands with all kinds of weaponsin their hands

"Be quick. Move forward at the highest speed! Once we get to ValleyTown, we will kill everyone belonged to the Zhang Clan! None shouldbe left alive!"

Miller's voice was full of fury, urging the group of brigands into fastermovement and more butchery.

The exhausted brigands took in Miller's anger and marched quicker. Itdidn't matter that they had been running for a whole day already. After a while, they came to a crossroads from where the first glimpse ofValley Town could be seen from afar.

Miller felt his heart race.

"We will soon reach Valley Town," he called out. "Every one of us mustlift our spirit..."

Miller's sentence was interrupted by strange sounds.

Shoop! Shoop! Shoop!

Before the brigands could recover from their shock, dozens of arrowsrained down on them from the forest that lined the road. Bodies fellhither and thither to the ground, pierced by the arrows. Soon, the airwas reeking with the smell of blood.

"Watch out! It's an ambush!"

Cries rent the air at the sudden attack.

Miller paled. 'Did the Zhang Clan know about us coming here? Werethey prepared for our arrival?" Miller questioned himself as his eyestook in the carnage.

"What do you think of my welcome, brigands from the Black MountainFortress?" a voice sounded out.

A few figures emerged from the woods and walked up to the group.

A young man and a young woman led the small band of bow-wieldingpeople.

Austin and Mindy walked ahead of the members of the Zhang Clan sentin by Zachary. Austin and Mindy had told him that they could handle it.But according to Zachary, Mindy was a cultivator of the highest leveland one who could help develop the clan into a legend, which was whyhe sent in more people with her for protection.

Miller's expression turned cold.

"You knew we are from the Black Mountain Fortress and yet ambushedus? Are you from the Zhang Clan?" he asked without preamble.

"You're right. What's the relationship between the Black MountainFortress and the Li Clan?" Mindy said furiously.

Without waiting for their response, he continued, this time talking tohis people. "Look how brave the Zhang Clan is! Only about a dozenpeople are sent in to stop us! No talking will be done today. Everysingle person from the Zhang Clan must die. Fight to kill. I repeat. Fightto kill! Oh, but spare that woman's life. You can have fun with her afterwe win!"

Miller leered at Mindy, eyeing her with ill-disguised lust.

"We will let you take her first!" the other brigands screeched in wickeddelight.

Miller's followers seemed to be heady with a lust, their excitement overthe promised “loot’ refreshing them from the exhaustion of the longmarch.

Mindy was furious. "You bloody gangsters! How dare you!" she said, hervoice quaking with rage.

"You're trying to put up a bold face before you die,” Austin said calmlyto the brigands

The presence of more than two hundred brigands standing against himdidn't seem to affect Austin's composure.

"There's no point boasting. Let's show him how to fight and kill him!"At Miller's words, the brigands began moving forward, charging atAustin and his group.

"Mindy. Violet. Tackle them for now. I need a little time to prepare,”Austin whispered.

The moment he finished his sentence, a green fog appeared, and fromit, emerged Violet.

Mindy nodded and turned to the other members of the Zhang Clan. "Ifyou don't want to cause trouble for us or yourselves, you'd better stepback and stay safe.”

Saying this, she whipped around fast as an arrow. Moments later whenthe whirlwind had stopped, her sword was shining and two brigandsnearest them were now headless.

Violet laughed softly. The paw of a black fox appeared before her, onethat obviously contained a powerful demonic force. And before anyonecould comprehend it, it had attacked the brigands, quick as thunder.

A few brigands fell to the ground, frothing blood at their mouths. Theywere dead before anyone could utter a word.

The other members of the Zhang Clan stood there, stunned, notknowing what to do.

"Mindy is right. You need to step back. If you join the fight, she willneed to take extra effort to protect you guys. All you'd do is to bringher trouble,” Violet told them.

Embarrassed, the members walked away, far from the battlefield.

A brigand rushed towards Austin, waving an enormous knife in hishand. Judging by his vital energy force, he was probably at level six ofthe Energy Gathering Realm.

Austin smiled coldly and threw a fist at the man's chest before the knifecould graze him. The knife fell from the man’s hand as he was propelledbackwards, instantly dead.
