Chapter 77 - Get Away

I felt arms shake my shoulders. I snapped my eyes opened and gasped as I shot upright. I lookedaround me, almost choking on shock when I saw Mira crouched in front of me.

What the hell? How was she standing in front of me?

I sucked in a deep breath as I struggled to sit up properly. My back was aching from the boot thatcontinuously bashed me the morning before. I was aching all over.

I supposed that back talking the guards wasn't smart. But how was I supposed to know that he'dalmost kicked me to death? The bruises that covered my body weren't pretty. I was uncomfortablein every position.

"Get up, child. Quick. We don't have much time," Mira told me. She grabbed my arms and stood, pulling me to my feet. I held back a yelp of pain, and leant against Mira for support.

She seemed strong, somehow. I didn't understand how she had escaped. I didn't understandanything. My head was still a mess from all the silver.

I was badly hurt. It was my own fault. If I hadn't tormented the guard the morning before, hewouldn't have kicked my ass like he did. I was an idiot.

"What's happening?" I grunted. Mira turned and helped me towards the gate that was now open. She pulled me through it, where I saw Bodie standing at the end of the hallway. He was hunchedover, just as weak as I was.

He was probably worse off.

"I've been feeding off your energy to bring my own back to normal health just so I could haveenough strength to break us the hell out of here. Sorry about that by the way... You two need to go.Run far away and stay the hell away from Takiani for a while,” Mira demanded as she handed meover to Bodie, who was much better at holding me than she was.

He put my arm around his shoulders and held me up easily. My knees buckled and I struggled tostay upright. I way aching so badly.

"Where will we go?" Bodie asked, his voice only weak. He wasn't doing well. He was facing badmalnutrition and was running dangerously skinny. I feared he was seriously sick. I was scared hewouldn't make it.

"My old pack. My brothers will take care of us and we'll figure things out from there," I croaked out.My ribs ached, probably fractured and bruised.

How the hell was this happening? How was she being the one to help us escape?

"Thank you, for being the reason I could finally get enough courage to break free from here. Thankyou for being the one that gave me hope,” Mira whispered to me, her eyes glossed over with tearsthe threatened to spill. I stared up at her.

My mind raced with thoughts. I didn't know what was going to happen and I was worried that itwould be bad. I needed to get to my brothers. They would take care of me. They'd take care ofBodie too and even Mira.

"Go. Go to them and stay safe,” Mira told us both. Bodie nodded his head and tried to move meaway. I grabbed onto Mira.

"Where are you going to go?" I asked her weakly. She smiled warmly at me and bent down. Shekissed my forehead.

"You'll see me again, my dear. I promise. Now go. Get out of here before they catch you," Mira toldme. Somehow, I felt that her promise was genuine. I trusted her. I had to.

I let Bodie pull me away. The two of us hobbled out the dungeons that we had been kept in. Wefound ourselves out in the middle of the woods.

There was nothing but darkness. It was late. It was our only chance to sneak away whilst the guardsweren't on duty.

"Which way?" Bodie asked me. I pointed the way we had to go, and he nodded My instincts guidedus. The two of us began to hobble along as fast as we could. I began to hurt and ache even worsethan before.

I felt terrible. I knew that I wouldn't make it far. Bodie had more of a shot than I did. But I had to try.Bodie tugged me along. I could feel his beast buzzing with excitement. It was the first time in yearsthat he had been free. The first time in a long time hat he'd breathed fresh air and seen the dirt.

His blood hummed. I knew Bodie was a strong wolf. He was magnificent. But he'd been cooped up along time. He needed to be set free and he'd finally gotten his wish.

Bodie laughed softly to himself as we rushed along. He looked around him, his eyes darting toeverything surrounding the two of us. He was in disbelief. He was amazed.

I couldn't have been more happy for him. He deserved it.

"Bodie..." I mumbled out as my head suddenly became heavy. I wasn't going to make it.

"No, come on Alison. You can do it. We need to make it over the border,” Bodie told me, pulling meup straight again. I winced at the pain all over my body. It felt like fire.

"We won't make it. It's a three day trip if we walk," I mumbled to him. Bodie kept me going, pullingme along as fast as he could go.

"Link to your brothers. You have to try. I'm not going back in that damn cell,” Bodie told me. Iwinced and hissed in pain as my breathing hitched. My chest was burning intensely. It was agony.

I tried to link with Beckett. I tried linking with all of them. The first few times, nothing went through. It all faded and turned to ash.

But finally. It worked.

"Beckett!" I cried out to him. I felt tears in my eyes as I began to cry from the pain andoverwhelming emotions.

"Beckett! Please answer! I need you!" I cried out again. I tripped on a rock and fell into Bodie. Hestruggled to hold me up but grunted and kept me upright.

I wept, my tears spilling down my cheeks. I couldn't stop crying. I was scared. I didn't want to die. Ididn't want things to end this way.

"You can do it. Come on, Ali," Bodie told me. I blinked back the tears.

"Ali? What's wrong?" Beckett finally answered. His voice in my head sent a wash of relief over mybody.

Thank God. Thank freaking God.

"You need to meet me at the border. Get your damn car and come get me. You have to be quick. Before they replace me and take me back to the dungeons!" I cried to him. I heard a growl over the linkand then felt the panic my brothers were all feeling

"Where are you? Who are you with? Are you hurt?" Beckett spammed my head with questions. I wasbeginning to feel too weak. I knew I couldn't waste my energy on talking.

"On way to Terialta, headed East. With someone. Hurt bad," I huffed out. I clutched Bodie's arm asmy leg went numb from the pain. He held me close.

"You can do it, tiger," Bodie said, nudging me along. I grunted at him.

I hated that nickname. He'd given it to me within our first day days of knowing he each other. Hesaid I was too feisty for my own good.

"I hate that damn nickname," I muttered as I hung my heavy head. Bodie chuckled and continued topull me along.

"We're on our way. We're coming to get you," Beckett told me. The voices in my head went quietand I huffed out.

"They're coming," I told Bodie softly. He chuckled out and shook his head

"They better have miracle doctors and the best food on the planet, otherwise I might as well crawlback into that cell,” Bodie joked. I rolled my eyes at him. He tightened his grip on my waist as Ibegan to slip from his grip.

Bodie and I hobbled slog for what felt like hours. The night air got cooler and I realised that the sunwould be rising soon enough. We weren't at the border and I feared that we'd be caught if wehadn't crossed it before the sun rose.

"How fast are your brothers? Will they take three days to get here?" Bodie asked me. He pantedheavily, completely out of breath. He'd been pulling me along, as well as trying to keep himself onhis feet. He was definitely exhausted.

It was a three day walk at the pace Bodie and I were going. If my brothers were running or driving, they'd be here in hours.

"They shouldn't. They're all...so fast,” I mumbled out weakly. I felt lightheaded and sick to mystomach. I wished that I could drop dead.

But I knew that the quicker I got to my brothers, the quicker I could heal myself and then eventuallyget back to Liam. He wouldn't cope without me around. I wondered if Henry would tell him that Iescaped.

"Ali!" I heard a shout in the distance. I looked up. My heart began to race.

I saw the group of them running in the distance. Beckett was running in his skin, the other boys intheir fur. They were sprinting towards Bodie and I at full speed.

My stomach did a flip as Bodie finally let go of me as Beckett came up to me and embraced metight in his arms. I had never been so excited to see him. Ever.

"My God. You're okay. I thought you were in some serious trouble,” Beckett sighed out as he kissedthe top of my head. I sucked in a deep breath as the tears welled in my eyes again.

"I'm not doing well, Beck. We have to leave, before they replace us," I said, pulling away from him. Ilooked back to Bodie, and heard Beckett laugh.

"No fucking way. Is that Bodie Benson?" Beckett laughed out. Bodie frowned for a moment beforehe broke into a grin.

"Beckett Grey! You sick son of a bastard!" Bodie exclaimed excitedly. My brother pulled away fromme and the two guys did that manly type of hug that the boys had always done.

"I thought you were dead," Beckett said. I looked away from him and to the other boys.

Samaya trotted over to me and nudged me with his head. I sighed as I kneeled down, my hand onhis head. He nudged my arm this time.

"Glad you're okay, sis. You look like shit though,” Samaya told me. I smiled weakly as I leant againsthim. He stood taller and held my weight as Rae and Jax came along.

Their wolves both sat beside me. I was more than glad that they had arrived. Because I couldn't runanymore. I was exhausted and too hurt.

"Jesus Christ. We've got to go. The sun will be up soon. Sam, take Ali. Bodie, are you good to run onyour own?" Beckett ordered. Samaya nudged me with his head again as I crawled onto his back. His wolf was a huge. His back reached my mid section easily. Carrying me on his back was probablynothing.

"I think. But I might struggle to keep up," Bodie said. He probably hadn't shifted in years.

"I'll get Rae to stay back with you if you fall behind. As long as you make it to Terialta, right?"Beckett said, nodding at him. Bodie nodded as Samaya began to run.

Beckett shifted into his skin and ran after us, Jax by my side. Rae and Bodie ran behind us.

Bodie was a ashy blond wolf. He was scrawny, but he was still tall. Once he returned to full health, Iknew he'd be a strong wolf. I could tell.

I clutched Samaya's fur tight and held on for dear life. He ran fast, faster than I liked. But quickly, wecrossed over the border and were on our way to Terialta.

"Get them to the infirmary. Get them fixed. I have to go and make sure sour damn security is tightenough to keep out a pissed off Alpha,” Beckett yelled as we came back to the pack. He had alreadyshifted back into his skin and already pulled on shorts. He was running off when I looked back athim.

Samaya slowed as we came to the infirmary. He rushed through the door and to an empty bedwhere he pushed me onto it. Then, he bounded out, quickly returning wearing a pair of shorts.

"You won't believe what just happened to me, tiger," Bodie said as he walked in. He was giddy andexcited. He looked more than happy.

He was wearing a pair of shorts. He must've grabbed one from the boys before he came in.

Bodie sat on the empty bed next to mine and grinned at me. "I just met my mate.”

I widened my eyes at him. He grinned proudly at me. He was more than excited that he hadaccomplished the task that some couldn't ever succeed.

How the hell had he gotten so lucky?

"Wow. That's great, Bodes," I mumbled out. I was truly happy for him. He deserved to meet hismate. Someone who would make him happy.

"We'll get you with your girlfriend once you're fixed up,” Samaya said from next to me. The doctorcame along and pushed past Samaya to get to me.

"Hi sweetheart. Long time no see,” she said. I remembered her quickly.

"Quinn, just like old times, hmm?" I smiled as I looked down at myself. She rolled her eyes at meand shook her head as she grabbed a wet cloth and wiped some of the wiped from my arms, faceand legs.

My eyelids felt heavy as Quinn started to do her examination. I shut my eyes as I felt my brother rubmy shoulder, assuring me that I was safe and that I could sleep.

I drifted off into a deep sleep. For the first time in a while, I didn't have any nightmares.
