Chapter 230

Dylan clung to Melanie as if she was holding onto a lifeline. “Sally!”

When Melanie’s grandfather heard what she said, he threw his cane beside Dylan and shouted, “Sally, get her out of here! I don’t want to see her again!”

The caregivers and the director who had remained nearby rushed over upon hearing the old man’s voice. The director pulled Dylan away, saying, “The old man is not in good health. Please leave for now.”

Only when Dylan was led away by the director did Melanie’s grandfather raise his hand and hit his head. Frustrated and angry, he muttered, “What sins have I committed?!”

Melanie also snapped out of her stupor then. She rubbed the hand that Dylan had grabbed and then calmly went to support her grandfather.

The old man waved his hand. “You should go back first.”

“I’m worried about your health,” Melanie said.

“I’m fine, really.” Despite the fatigue evident in her grandfather’s tone, he shook his head, not wanting Melanie to accompany him.

However, when they reached the room door, he stopped and slowly turned back to look at Melanie with a gaze full of sadness. “Mel, this has nothing to do with you. No matter what she says or does, don’t get involved.”

Melanie felt a stir in her heart. She closed her eyes briefly and finally said, “I’ll come to pick you up to visit Grandma tomorrow.”

After her grandfather went back to his room, Melanie stayed for a while before leaving. It was not until she got home that she took out her phone.

She quickly glanced at her messaging app. Finding no important messages, she then put her phone down to rest and sleep. She was very tired.

Dealing with the pile of work at the company was already exhausting, and now Dylan had come to cause a disturbance. It would not be an exaggeration to say that she was mentally and physically exhausted.

Melanie had not been asleep for long when she began to feel a dull ache in her stomach. Her eating habits had been irregular lately, and she did not even have dinner the night before. She fumbled to check the time and saw that it was only four in the morning.

Melanie got out of bed and went to the living room in search of some medicine for her stomach. After taking a pill, she lay back down.

By the time she left the house, her stomach was still uncomfortable. She grabbed a cup of hot water and placed it on her stomach to warm herself.

With no reply from Cameron, Melanie had to change her strategy. She checked the article posted on Blue Inc’s public account this morning, took a screenshot of a part she did not quite understand, and sent it to Cameron. She was humbly seeking advice.

“Melanie, hey!” A crisp and lively voice rang out as Viola entered the office holding several cups of coffee. She placed one on Melanie’s desk and said, “Good morning!

Melanie glanced at the coffee, his expression unchanging. “I’m not feeling well. No coffee for me.”

The bright smile on Viola’s face immediately faded. She muttered a low apology to Melanie, Sorry, Melanie, it’s my fault.”

“I

Coincidentally, a colleague who had just arrived overheard Viola apologizing to Melanie again. and could not help whispering, “Why is Melanie scolding Viola again? How many times has it been?”

Although the voice had been a whisper, the office was quiet in the early morning, so many people heard it.

Melanie remained expressionless and silent while Viola hurriedly explained, “No, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have bought coffee for Melanie’s breakfast.”

Flipping through the documents, Melanie’s actions paused. She looked up at Viola casually. ” Did I ask you to buy breakfast for me?”

Her tone was calm as she continued, “Also, refrain from doing anything too smart for your own good or it’ll just make you look foolish.”
