The Unwanted Luna
Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 71

-POV Conri-

Staring in the mirror, I couldn't unsee my mate running towards us when we found her in Prince Chaz's castle. She looked so...broken, but so happy to see us all at the same time. Then she shut us out shortly after because she thought she would have to do this alone. She thought she was going to become a monster after spending three long weeks with one because I couldn't save her! I just had to go by the rules. The damn rules. I grit my teeth and balled my fist on the onyx countertop while my hair fell on either side of my shoulders. "You have to fix this, Conri. She doesn't need us anymore and she defied us earlier! This is not our Ayame. Chaz broke her! I want my Ayame back!" My Lycan growled the same thing I'd heard from him since shortly after we got her back. Initially, I fought him about his accusations, but now...I don't know anymore. My own brother attacked me because of this new Ayame.

Our Luna.... Why is she fighting me about this? Why is she fighting me at all?! "I will not allow you to put other pack members at risk for my safety! We didn't do so well last time. Get over it! Charlie's heart is more important than seeing Richard get what he deserves. I want to make sure I still have a family when we are done with him, or he's won! I will not let the villain win!" My muscles tightened and looked at my eyes shift to obsidian. She really thinks I would let Richard win. That human. That child?!

"She's the reason our pack is turning against us!" My eyes grew when I really saw myself in the mirror. Am I really allowing my spirit to take over? I've heard about the need for a Lycan to always have control, but I never thought our spirit would ever get this angry at our mate to maintain his control. He's forcing me for control and I'm letting it happen while he bashes our mate.

"Daddy, please, if you can hear me, I just want to make sure you are okay. We are in the living room watching a movie if you want to join us when you get back." Her wolf's voice rang through my mind while I was running around the territory border. She was just trying to reach out to me, and I completely ignored her.

"You should have ignored her! She wants to be Alpha... Edon wants to entertain all this pressure, then let them. Let them be alpha!" Okay, now my Lycan is just being a spiteful ass because he knows Ayame is right. We have her because it is important to replace balance. The balance we are severely lacking. I can no longer allow him to have this ridiculous tantrum. No matter how angry we are, we need to stay in control.

"Get your shit together!" I stared at myself and forced my Lycan down while I remembered my brother's words. I do need to get my shit together.

"Shut up! She is our mate! I know your angry, but I don't' want to hear it anymore. We've caused enough damage. We are to blame here. This is their pack as much as it is mine. We need to put our pack first! We swore on that oath! Stop being selfish!" I growled back and pulled off my towel. I was already dry at this point. I yanked on my sweats and pulled my wet hair into a bun. I'll deal with it later.

When I stepped out of my bathroom, I was expecting to see my room, silent as ever, with no lights on and an empty bed waiting for me. What I got was my mate staring back at me with tears in her eyes. My eyes grew while my Lycan smirked. "You asshole!" I shouted at him before blocking him completely. I cannot believe he allowed her to hear all of that! In my twenty-eight years of life, my Lycan has been quite the hard ass, but I have never seen him act like this and I have never blocked him from my mind, but Edon's right. We were out of line and he is completely out of control.

"Hello." I said, keeping my expression even.

"C-Conri...I'm sorry.... I...I didn't mean to make you so angry at me." She whimpered.

I made it across the room in seconds and pulled her into my chest. "I told you Lycan's have issues. Specifically, control issues. He's just angry because you are right, little one. I was careless because I wanted to make your pain go away. I didn't think about the consequences of how that would affect the others."

She nuzzled her face into my chest and held onto my sweats tightly. "But I overstepped. I know I overstepped. I'm seriously sorry."

I pulled her up and made her straddle my lap, so she had no choice but to look at me. "Little one, remember what I said about our spirits?"

"Th-They are our primal instincts." She managed through her tears.

"And?"

"A-And they are not the embodiment of the person, they are the embodiment of the spirit."

"So?"

"So, your spirit is being a meanie." She pouted and I smirked at her childish response.

A small grin formed on my lips while I felt the anger dissipate. "Sure, we can go with that." Sighing in relief, she wiped the tears off her face and took a shaky breath.

"Does that mean that you're not angry anymore?" She slipped down lower and rubbed her core against me suggestively.

I pursed my lips and flipped us over, making sure my leg was locked in between hers. "No, I'm not, little one. Now, hold still."

She shook beneath me, and her arousal was almost immediate. "Yes daddy."

I woke up with a start while my door raddled. "Hey! Wake the hell up!" Vil shouted. I winced and rubbed my eyes before letting my hand drop. The subtle movement had Ayame snuggle closer to me. I looked down and kissed her head before slipping out of the sheets and pulling my sweats back on. Maybe I overdid it last night.

I shrugged and walked up to the door, pulling it open. My brothers walked in and the reprimanding started almost immediately. "Now, Ayame may have forgiven you, but we have not!"

"Sorry guys." I said, but they didn't hear me.

"Kyle is not going but at least Charlie decided to give it another try, but you still should have asked them, not forced them! I do not regret punching you." Edon huffed.

"I know."

"And another thing -" Vil started with his finger pointed at me. "Wait, what did you say?" He asked. Then his jaw slacked, and his hand fell. "Did you just say you were wrong?!" The shock in his words was obvious.

"I didn't have control and I royally fucked up. I'm sorry." I said again.

"Damn...did not see that one coming." Edon walked over to the couch and flopped on the cushions. "Did Ayame talk to you last night? He asked, nodding to the bed. She was still knocked out...after all that noise? Yeah...I overdid it.

"Yes, I did. My idiotic spirit put my conversation with him on full blast and I did not even realize she was in the room. When I came out of the shower she just started apologizing. I told her it wasn't her fault."

"Well, she seems...comfortable. So, I'm sure that conversation went well." Vil hummed like the cocky know-it-all he is.

I grinned and grabbed a shirt for her. "It did, but why are you two in here so early?"

"Well, that is how we were going to get you back for being such an ass yesterday. We were going to make sure you saw the sunrise with a good argument." I turned towards the window and as Edon said, it was literally dawn. I growled lowly. "I'm going to kill you two."

Vil smirked. "You wouldn't. We are too entertaining to live without."

I was ready to deck him before I heard the sheets rustle. She's awake. I left Vil where he was and went up to Ayame. "Hey, I got you a shirt. Edon and Vil are here." I whispered and she jolted upright before ripping the shirt out of my hand and slipping it over her hickie-stained body. "Th-Thank you for the clothes." Edon and Vil looked over at her worriedly.

"You okay, princess?" Edon asked.

She shook her head. "N-No. I'm just a little jumpy." She darted her eyes to the door, then back at us.

"Jumpy?" Vil cut in.

"Yes. What time is it?" She pressed hurriedly.

"Unfortunately, 6:00am. Why?" I grumbled.

She sighed in relief and immediately calmed down before slipping out of bed and walking over to the couch. She hopped on the seat next to Edon and Vil and I joined them on the other couch perpendicular to the TV. "So, this is about what you told me last night?" Edon asked. He really is quite gentle with her.

"Yes, I heard that girl that you were dating before, talking to Malerie."

"What?!" The three of us shouted at once.

She shushed us and looked around the room. "Please, stay calm." Vil was pushing back his wolf and Edon held onto her as if that would prevent him from doing what all of us wanted to do to that girl. "What did she say?" Edon asked through his sharpened teeth.

"She wants to poison me with nightshade and they are supposed to do it this morning because I cannot make it to my Luna Ceremony. I'm heavily paraphrasing here, but I think that is the gist." "So, why would she be concerned about you making it to the Luna Ceremony? That isn't going to change anything from the current time." Vil said like that was the most important problem here. "Nightshade will kill her and that's the first thing on your mind?!" I bellowed.

"Conri!" She shouted and I huffed, turning my attention to her. "Focus."

I nodded slowly and turned back to Vil. The Luna ceremony.... Just then, my eyes grew. "Your connection to the pack. She doesn't want you to have a connection to the pack. If you do, you grow stronger. Alphas pull their strength from their numbers, but Lunas grow their strength from their connection. If you are connected to them, no one will get within five miles of you. You will be untouchable. You will be guarded by the biggest pack in Bodhi Cora."

Edon rubbed his face while his eyes connected the dots. "So, if she gets rid of you beforehand, she can slip in and take her place back while only hurting us in the process instead of the whole pack who would want her dead if she killed their Luna. She thinks she can replace you... our true mate...with someone else."

I think we may have underestimated her.
