The Unwanted Luna
Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 13

-POV

Ayame-

I gritted my teeth and looked up at him. I will not be accused of anything by someone who wants nothing to do with me. Vilkas thinks he knows everything because I'm a human? That is how he is basing his decision to hate me? I've met some pretty horrid people and the way he is so jilted towards me makes me think he has as well, but I have done nothing wrong, but be his mate. "Why do you care?!" I shouted.

His eyes grew before he controlled his demeanor again. "I'm positive you know the answer to that."

"Then why are we having this conversation? If you don't like me and you want me gone, then just reject me and get it over with! I'm...I've already been in a relationship that sucked so badly that I went to the tundra to get away from him, I might add, and I know that Edon is the only one who really wants this, but Conri is at least trying. You, however, are driving me crazy. It's only been two days and I'm exhausted just trying to keep up with your indecisive mood swings." I called. I guess that was bottling up for a while. I wasn't expecting all three of them to come to me with open arms, but after they openly talked to me yesterday about soulmates and their kind, I would have never guessed that one of them would outright hate me.

I felt my cheeks redden and I looked around the room. The aura coming from him was frightening now. "You think I don't like you because you are human?!"

"That is what Conri said." I confirmed, with my newfound confidence before it deflated any second now. "I...I don't mean to be the way that I am. For now, I'm just trying not to be a burden."

"But you aren't. The docile attitude, the constant apologies, the nervousness. That is not the qualities we need for a Luna. Your current species is not my problem."Visit Job ni b-.com to read the complete chapters for free. He sat on the armchair next to my head and started writing something in the notebook. I was expecting more, but nothing came. He was so calm when he said this.

"So, you are rejecting me because I won't be a good Luna for you and your brothers?" I gasped out. This was painful. Too painful.

"I'm not rejecting you!" He bellowed and, if I could fly, I would have jumped through the ceiling.

"But I'm weak and docile and all that. You...you just said I'm not right to be your Luna. I can't be your mate then, right?" Book knowledge to the rescue.

He winced and looked over to me. "I'm not rejecting you. I'm just pissed at the situation."

"So you are taking it out on me?" Just like Richard. I started to feel my hands shake. Maybe I didn't want to be his mate.

"No. I just don't know what to do with you. You frustrate me, but my wolf is already in love with you. It's annoying. But, you are not a burden. I'm just an asshole." He said, finally putting the notebook down. I know he wasn't one for idle chat, but I'm trying to figure out what his problem is with me. However, I give up on pushing any further. He is an asshole. I'm glad we at least have that confirmed.

I spun back around and stared at the door, begging for Edon to come back. "What did I do now? I told you why I'm irritated. That should be good enough." He sighed.

I tilted my head up and he was rubbing his eyes with his hand. "Nothing."

"It had to be something that I'm not getting here. I don't do pouting, so take that up with Edon." He spat back almost immediately. His hand dropped into his lap, and he looked straight at me. "You're still pissed. Talk."

I furrowed my brow. "No, I'm not."

Yep, I was still pouting. With him I wanted to be a brat more than ever. Especially after the conversation we just had. He wants to be flippant and angry? Fine. Two can play at that game. I...I won't be scared of him. Liquid courage...keep it coming. "I can smell it." He growled. Now I was even more confused. "Smell it? Like the scent thing?"

He sighed and tossed the notebook on the coffee table. "No, like a wolf thing. We can sense others' emotions if we are looking for them. You just got even more irritated with me. You are my mate. My spirit and I are really hyperaware of your mood swings. Conri can do the same thing. That's why he knew you were crying in the bathroom yesterday afternoon." I winced. My mate. Yeah right.

He wasn't wrong about my anger though. I wiggled my nose, and huffed. I wasn't his biggest fan right now. "Well, that and your emotions are pretty much all over your face. Again, you want to pout, go replace Edon." He added with a smirk and it was almost patronizing instead of cute like when Edon does it.

He grabbed the notebook again and started writing away. I didn't bother to continue the conversation after that. He seemed to be done with it and I'm done with him. If he wants me, he'll let me know. Until then, I won't bother. I let the time slowly slip by as the cherry oak grandfather clock ticked with time. The quiet didn't seem to phase either of us. Even though I was annoyed, and he knew it, the silence was comfortable.

"You know, you could hear a pin drop in here." Edon said, coming through the room. He was dressed in black jeans, brown boots and a long-sleeved forest green button up. He seemed relaxed, but still professional.

He grabbed a laptop from the desk drawer, then went back to the sitting area. He lifted my feet gently and slipped himself underneath them. "Go to sleep princess." He said, massaging my good foot. It felt really nice. I snuggled into my pillow and enjoyed the silence. I heard someone scoff, then, the door slammed closed and the light tapping of a keyboard commenced. Edon was already working and Vilkas had already left. I have a feeling they were talking in their minds again.

"Is she asleep?" Oh, Conri came back.

"Yeah, she's asleep. Vilkas is still a piss ant and he said their conversation you forced him to have with her didn't go so well, but you would never guess what I found though...." Edon added. I felt sleep overtake me after that and I didn't care much about their conversation. Vilkas was right, the conversation didn't go well and there was nothing I could say to soften that blow.

Once I finally woke up, I stretched and smelled bacon. Delicious bacon! I spun around, almost falling off the couch. "Woah there. Hungry?" Kyle asked, chuckling.

I scurried upright and looked down at the coffee table. "Sorry."

I heard someone click their tongue and due to our conversation this morning, I'm positive it was Vilkas. "Stop apologizing." He grumbled. Assumption confirmed. At least he's talking to me.

"Eat whatever you can. I made a plate for you." Edon said, handing me a plate with bacon, eggs, toast with strawberry jam and half of a waffle. I took the plate and Edon smiled. "I didn't want those scavengers to eat all the food before you woke up." "Hey! You want us to eat in here, then you should order more food!" Kyle countered.

"Dude, you are a pig." Vince sighed.

"Why you little -"

"Hey! We have work to do, so do it. We will eat in here until further notice. If you three don't like it, eat downstairs with everyone else!" Edon growled.

"Everyone else?" I asked, stuffing a piece of bacon into my mouth.

He turned to me, and his entire demeanor softened. He was still sitting under my feet. "Yes, our families live here on the lower floors. Kyle, Vince and Charlie's families included."

"Oh, so do you have any siblings?" I asked curiously. Did they hear me last night? I wanted to ask, but I couldn't.

Edon hesitated before nodding slowly. "We...have a little sister, but she is on the fourth floor with our parents when they are home." He confirmed.

I continued eating and nodded. "How have I not met her yet?" I asked curiously.

The room went deadly silent. "She's a -" Vince started.

"Finish that sentence and you will be pushing daisies." Vilkas threatened. I don't even know when he got behind Vince, but the promise in his tone made him shut up immediately. "Malerie is a character. She is not a woman I would suggest you make friends with." Conri said.

"Why not?" I pushed. It seemed like they all knew something that I wanted to figure out. Who was Malerie? I would still like to meet her. She's their sister. I can't just pretend she doesn't exist. "She's very possessive of everything, including her big brothers." Kyle said, rolling his eyes.

Big brothers? "Well, she seems like she's just young and wants your attention?" I asked innocently. I mean if she calls them big brothers, she must be a kid.

Charlie smirked. "Oh no, she isn't that young. She's twenty-four years old. She's just...young in maturity!"

"Glad to know how you feel, Charlie." A tall slender woman came through the double doors with bleached white hair and icy blue eyes, almost like Vilkas. Her features were just as cold as his, that's for sure, but her face seemed evil while his orbs were more...unapproachable. Her blonde hair was pinned to one side and her dress was basically painted on while her breasts were pretty much falling out of the fabric. The dress, if you want to call it that, was bright red and matched her studded silver heels.

"I don't remember ever lying to you about how I feel, Malerie." Charlie growled back. They really don't like her.

"Whatever. I was told that I needed to come up here to discuss something with my brothers. Take the whore and get out." She added, flicking her hair back behind her shoulder and directing the comment at Kyle, Vince, and Charlie.

"Excuse me?" Kyle added, standing to his feet. He wouldn't hurt her, right? There is no way. I mean she may look like an Amazonian ice princess, but she is still a woman.

"Kyle." Edon warned, and Kyle pursed his lips before slowly taking a seat back on the couch. "Malerie. You can wait until later. We are eating and finishing up some paperwork. Whatever you need can wait."

She glared directly at me and I'm sure I looked pretty interesting at the moment. I tend to have an almost comical bedhead. "No, it cannot." She added curtly. "Actually, it has a lot to do with you, Edon."

Edon slowly closed his computer and rested it on the nightstand next to the couch before turning his attention directly to her. "And that changes anything because? I do not care who you are, Malerie. You do not disrespect the ranked members of this pack." He growled, ushering to everyone in the room...including me?

She rolled her eyes. "Then you shouldn't throw away my friends for something so dirty." At that, time stood still. Am I doing this again? The brunette from yesterday peeked from behind the door. Yes...yes, I am.

"Get out." Vilkas said shortly.

"Excuse me?!" Malerie shrieked. It almost made my ears bleed.

"Get. Out." Vilkas repeated. It was low and methodical, but the most terrifying voice I've heard so far. Why is he defending me when he is just as bad? Ugh, just like a boy in kindergarten that likes a girl but bullies her instead.

"How dare you speak to your own sister in such a manor! And over some stowaway at that. Ugh, she even smells like a human." Malerie continued. Oh geeze. I felt like I was in high school again. Edon rested his hand on my leg and the gentle movement calmed me down almost immediately. I was even able to eat again. "Wow, she even eats like garbage."

At that, she was pinned to the wall and I was shocked who it was. It wasn't Vilkas. "Disrespect our mate again little girl and I will charge you with treason. Get the hell out of our office and take that tramp with you. I see heads or tails of either of you on this floor again, without permission, there will be hell to pay. How dare you disrespect your future Luna?!" Conri growled.

Malerie gasped for air as she was more surprised than ever. I'm sure she has done this more than once and gotten away with it. Especially with her cocky attitude. I mean she did get away with calling me a whore, but I guess calling me trash was the last straw. Conri dropped her to the floor, and she scurried out with her 'friend' close behind.

He slammed the door and went back to his desk. There were three in the room, but the other two didn't look like they were used much. Conri's was in the middle and I think he's the only one who actually acts like this is his office. "Like I said...piece of work." Kyle said, rolling his eyes and breaking the silence.
