The Unwanted Luna -
Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 24
-POV Vilkas-
When the four of us made it to the office, I held the door open for Edon, Conri, and Ayame. She looked up at me and winced before bowing her head and adjusting her pace to keep up with Edon. She was holding onto him for dear life. When he sat down on the armchair, he immediately pulled her to sit in his lap. "Before we say anything in this room," Edon started before kissing Ayame without hesitation. The passion behind the action wasn't lost on me.
I closed the door and locked it so we wouldn't be disturbed. I'm annoyed that she finally allowed someone to kiss her, but it wasn't me. "And, who do you have to blame for that?!" My wolf said. My number one hater.
I clenched my jaw and sat next to Conri. He looked ahead and didn't even disturb them. He didn't even wince. Dude is too controlled sometimes. Once they finally pulled away from each other, he brushed the smudge of gloss off the side of her lip and tapped her nose with his. I cleared my throat and the two of them turned back to us, remembering we were still here.
Edon scoffed and turned her head back to his. "Remember, nothing that he says changes anything." Edon said seriously.
She nodded and he kissed her cheek. "Words, princess." He whispered.
"Y-yes, Edon, but what if -"
He cut her off, resting his finger over her lips. "Nothing he says changes anything."
She blushed. "Okay." She mumbled behind his finger.
"Good, now, Vilkas, this has been the nicest weekend I have had since I was born. Say anything that will mess that up and I will tear you to shreds, brother or otherwise." Edon said calmly.
I guess Vince wasn't the only one that wanted to punch me. Edon has been itching to give me one solid smack for at least three weeks. Well, he needs to get in line. When Charlie saw us come in, I saw blood in his eyes too. I'm sure Vince told him.Enjoy this chapter for free and stay updated with the latest version on Job_ni-b.c -o m. Don't miss out, visit it now. I took a deep breath and stood from the couch. I'm not the best at calm conversations. "Look, Ayame." She shifted her weight and gave me her full attention while she sat on Edon's lap and crossed her ankles over each other. Her rosy cheeks and floral dress made her look like a damn fairy and my wolf was drooling over it. I do have to hand it to him though. She looks gorgeous.
"At least someone can be mature in our rare interactions with each other." My wolf hissed after he calmed his ornery self down, making me even more agitated.
I grit my teeth. "I'm not the easiest person to deal with and I don't like just being in relationships because it's nice." I started pacing and she nodded slowly, no emotion on her face yet, but she might as well be screaming with the elevated pace of her heartrate right now. "Out of the three of us, I'm not the easiest to get along with and I've always been okay with that!" I shouted and she flinched, but she still didn't freak out externally.
"It's because she is stronger than you make her out to be. She would be much stronger if you would just accept her!" My wolf shouted.
"Ugh!" I growled and walked to my desk, slamming my hands on the end of it. "I don't know what to say to you half the time. I don't...I don't want you to be taken advantage of, okay?! We are dangerous mates to have and I can't just like someone...and watch them get hurt because they can't protect themselves." My eyes stayed glued on the window giving me a snap shot of the frozen life just beyond the pane while my back stayed facing my brothers and my mate. "Come on Vilkas, you can do this." Edon said. He was...he was rooting for me?
I spun around and I was met with a small princess. Our princess.... My...princess. I sighed when I saw her looking up at me with such love in her eyes. She...she may not have said it, but she doesn't have any anger towards me. Not an ounce of it. "V-Vilkas." She said. "Yes?" I asked, leaning back a bit.
"Baby steps." She said and I froze.
"That means we were forgiven...right? That better be right." My wolf grumbled, desperate for her approval.
I winced, finally having enough of him, and stood to my full height. She raised her eyes to mine and I took a deep breath. "I have alphas to greet. I got out what I needed to say." I declared, before heading out of the door. I didn't even look back. -POV Ayame-
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding, watching the door close behind him. Baby steps. I will have to work on him, but I think he was trying to say he was sorry? Either way...baby steps. "Damn it, Vil." Edon grumbled, shocking me back to reality. I walked back to sit on Edon's lap, but Conri cleared his throat before I made it there.
Edon stood to his feet and kissed the top of my head. "I'll make sure he doesn't attack anyone." Edon said, heading out of the office. Attack anyone? Why would he do that?! He seemed angry, but not that angry.
When the door closed behind him, I made a note that we had only been this far apart three times this entire weekend. Other than Emily giving me a makeover, the other times were when he went to the dungeons. I was not going down there no matter how much I wanted to be by his side.
A warm hand gently took mine and Conri pulled me to sit next to him. I quickly grabbed the book on the coffee table and sat next to him, my back against his side while he rested his arm over my torso. He didn't say a word and looked at his phone. Like with Vilkas, the quiet was comfortable with Conri. He was working and I knew that already but he wanted to talk to me. He tends to trap me under his arm when he wants to say something but he has to finish a deliverable first.
I opened the book to the folded corner crease I had left in it the last time I was down here with Edon. I stayed focused on the words while I waited for Conri to respond, remembering the first time he did this a week ago. I was so stressed out that I ended up making myself dizzy waiting for him. I shook my head and continued to read. It was a book about Bodhi Cora. The name of a huge span of land encompassing all walks of supernatural life. The imagery was so beautiful. The shifters are the ones who protect the border. Like the entire border. Our pack is the furthest south- and the largest - but there are many others all over the borders of this land. I chatted with Edon about this and he promised me he would explain more to me after he talked to his brothers.
"So you finally stumbled upon the history of our world?" Conri said.
I looked up at him and he was staring over my shoulder, reading the book's contents. I nodded and glanced at his hand to make sure he was actually done working. When I didn't see his phone, I realized it was all clear. "Yes, I asked Edon about Bodhi Cora, but he told me you three would tell me about it later." I said.
"That was a good response. For now, it's better to have you know about our world with all of us present. Just in case one of us can console you better." He said, pulling the book out of my hands and slipping my body on his lap. "You really are...quite portable." He said with a chuckle. I nodded and rested my hand on his shoulder. I missed his scent. It's only been three days, but we left each other on such a negative note. "I'm sorry." I whispered, letting the guilt pour out. He didn't say anything but I'm sure he was hurt by how I reacted. "Didn't Vilkas tell you something about apologizing?"
I winced. "Right, but this is deserved. I acted way out of line when you all left and I didn't even tell you why. Edon could have gotten hurt from that rogue ambush and it's all because of me. I won't ever do that again. I...I love you guys too much to even compare you to someone so cruel."
He pulled me away from his chest and leaned in to try and kiss me. I was frozen where I sat. I wasn't expecting him to try and do anything but cuddle me. Then I remembered what Edon said. They are not Richard. I need to stay focused. I leaned in and our lips met. He sighed in relief and immediately pulled me closer to him. He was much more urgent than Edon and he bit my lip while he squeezed my upper thigh. I gasped, letting him have full access to my mouth. He shifted my weight and I ended up almost lying down across his legs. Once he finally pulled away, I gasped and he pulled a wayward strand of hair away from my face. "Say it again." He ordered through a sultry growl.
I blushed and rested my hand on his cheek. It looked like tall, stoic, and handsome was finally cracking. Not that forced ease that he puts on when Edon's in the room to keep up with him. Or that exhausted sense of responsibility when all three of them are together. This was Conri. Just Conri. The man of few words and one of the three men I loved. I smiled sweetly and let my thumb rub his cheek. "I love you, Conri. I love you so much." I gasped and he pressed his lips on mine again.
It was short, but feverent. "I love you too, my perfect princess." He whispered, resting his forehead on mine.
I felt the tears and I knew I couldn't help it. I did the same thing when Edon told me he loved me. The last time a person spoke those words to me.... It was my mother...three years ago. He smiled back and started grazing soft kisses from the crown of my head down to my neck gently. "C...Conri." I whispered softly and he growled deeply. That wasn't Conri, that was his Lycan.
I shivered at the sound, and he froze, pulling away almost immediately. I was back upright and he held me on his lap, but he didn't move. He was breathing heavily. I took a deep breath and rested my hands on both of his cheeks, pulling his head to my shoulder. Once he stopped fighting me, he let his head rest in the crook of my neck and he breathed in my scent deeply. He was loosing control. I never thought I would see the day. He really was letting his guard down. I grinned softly and started patting his head slowly. "You are okay Conri, deep breaths." I said softly.
Edon told me it's important that they all keep control of themselves for now. If they lose control, one of them might accidentally mark me. Edon said the marking has to be done together...I'm not too sure how I'm supposed to do that, but he made it very clear that it was important that it was my decision on who marked me first. I told him I wasn't ready to shift into an animal right now and he was totally fine with that. I'm...I'm glad for it. They are still waiting for me.
"The hell?!" A nasally voice filled the room and Conri's grip on my hips tightened. It hurt a little but, I knew he didn't do it intentionally. Adolpha just decided to put herself in a place she shouldn't be...again. "Get off my boyfriend and I might make sure Vilkas doesn't throw you into the dungeons, whore!" She shrilled and from the hushed voices behind the doorway, I had a feeling she wasn't the only one intruding here.
I felt his hands start to heat up and I realized his breathing was labored. He wasn't calming down. This wasn't good. He pressed further into my hips and I winced. "C-Conri." I whimpered.
He inhaled my scent like he desperately needed a drag for his fix. Then he slowly let go of my hips. "I'm so sorry princess." He said softly, searching my eyes for any pain. "Are you okay?" He asked, rubbing my sides slowly.
I sighed in relief when I realized he wasn't running to Jessica Rabbit. He was worried because he was holding me too hard. "Conri!" Adolpha shouted.
He took a deep breath and kissed my cheek before he turned his attention back to the audience. I flinched when I realized his eyes were jet black and it almost looked like a shadow was forming on his lids. "Charlie!" He growled, raddling the room.
The Head Warrior was next to Aldopha in seconds. She had on a cream bodycon dress with a lace overlay that left nothing to the imagination. Who was she trying to impress? I mean, I think that about her, the brunette I now know is named Sawyer, and Malerie all the time, but that doily of a dress was ridiculous.
Emily called it desperation. I called it concerning. I think I look nice. The boys think I look nice and I don't have my breasts and upper thighs on view for the entire pack either. "Alpha." Charlie said, looking between the three of us. Conri stood up, placing me on his forearm as per usual.
It was fine. He needed this and I was completely fine with the contact. Our little intruder's life was at stake. "Remove her." He growled. "Now!" He shouted and even Charlie flinched.
"Yes, alpha." He grabbed Adolpha and started pulling her out of the house while she was kicking and screaming. I really didn't want to know, but...three guesses where she was going. Nowhere I would want to be.
"Ayame." I squeaked involuntarily and turned my face to Conri's while he was doing his best to hold back. I let my hand comb through his hair slowly and he closed his eyes.
"You are okay, Conri." I cooed. It just seemed like the right thing to do.
He glared at the onlookers and, thankfully, Kyle came to stand in the doorway with his back to us while Vilkas and Edon redirected the room. It would have been even more awkward to close the door at this point. I really don't want anyone to think we are doing anything too crazy in here. "I'll take you to the hospital now." He said, and I didn't question him.
He wasn't in the mood for anything but a, "Yes, Conri." And that is all I gave him as he walked me past Kyle and towards the hospital.
The eyes on me were a bit uncomfortable, but Vilkas and Edon stopped Conri before we made it out of the door. Great, I was almost to freedom. "Everyone, listen up!" Vilkas shouted and you could hear a pen drop.
"Thank you all for coming to this party to welcome Vilkas and I home. However, this was also to let those close to us know that we, the Triplet Alphas, have found our mate, Ayame Pierce. If anyone attempts what just transpired in our office a few moments ago for any reason again, they will replace themselves in the cell next to Adolpha! Do I make myself clear?!" Conri called throughout the room. Commanding a presence that is not to be messed with. "Yes Alphas!" The room shouted in unison.
"Bow to your Luna!" He growled and his voice was deeper now and I realized his fangs were barred and he was calling with his Lycan, not with himself.
They all nodded and leaned over, bowing to me with one hand balled into a fist over their hearts. "Now, continue to enjoy the festivities." Conri said. He turned on his heels and Edon and Vilkas followed suit. I looked over at Vilkas and he didn't say a word as we walked the path to the hospital. Well, I guess it doesn't matter what Vil was trying to say earlier. The announcement has been made. Conri made it final. There was no turning back for any of them.
